Why would you draft Reggie Bush in the early 3rd (1 Viewer)

To follow up with my point above, over the past 3 seasons the Saints are averaging about 310 receptions per year.

Pencil in the following:

Deuce (RB): 30

J Horn (WR): 70

Stallworth (WR): 70

Bennett (WR): 10

C Horn (WR): 15

Henderson (WR): 10

Campbell (TE): 10

Hilton (TE): 35

Other FBs/WRs/TEs: 20Total receptions before Bush: 270

Unless the Saints are going to pass for their highest total in I do not know how many years (I went back 10 and stopped counting) Bush will not get more than 30-40 receptions unless he significantly takes away production from someone else.

So who is it?

I think everything in bold drops a little with Bush in the mix.

how useful is this past data when the coaching staff and QB are all new this year?how have things been in San Diego with Brees or on Sean Payton-coached offenses?
looking at historic info for the saints would be more indicative than historic info for other factors i would think. so you think brees will pass for more than 310 completions per season? because that is right on his average in san diego.so who takes the hit in favor of bush?

i don't necessarily disagree. just curious what people think or if they have thought about it at all. because with all the hilton nonsense going on here bush will certainly take some production away if he gets to the 60 rec level.i personally think it will only come from bennett, deuce and the other RBs so his rec. upside is less in my book unless deuce goes down and then all of a sudden he could be at the 60 rec. level.

So Stallworth is going to match his career high? A career high he got when the #1 WR was injured. When they add the #2 pick overall whoever who's main asset is receiving ability? So no, Stallworth isn't going to catch 70 balls. Probably 50, at best.

So there we found our 20 catches to put Bush at 60.

I do see them making an effort to get the ball in Bushs hands. He's a big play talent. Screens, swing passes, working him against safeties down the middle. Bush is a matchup problem.

The main worry for Bush is his TDs. I don’t see him getting more then 2-3 rushing TDs and maybe 2-3 receiving. In PPR he’ll still be pretty good, but I can see Deuce eating the TDs Bus style.

:goodposting: I especially think Hilton, Campbell and Deuce will see declines (Deuce b/c he'll be out at times for these plays) but mostly Hilton and Campbell - I think the TE's suffer the most when Bush shows up at camp.

And take a few from the Other FBs/WRs/TEs as well.

I also agree with the dude who said Stallworth won't reach his career high again this year.

Most important to me is to watch camp and see how Brees and Bush (both 'new guys' in town) click or don't.

If Bush becomes a favorite outlet for Brees, he'll see more targets.

If Brees can't rely on him to hold on when he gets dumped to, then Bush will be relegated to more carries and less pass targets.

But hell, it's early....

I didn't look it up. I was just asking.I read recently that they are implementing a west coast offense. At first, I thought that didn't make sense b/c Payton doesn't seem to have any experience in that type of system.

I'm not a Bush-lover though, so I'm not really arguing one way or the other in this thread. I like his upside, but I honestly have very little idea of what to expect from him this year.

My guess is Stallworth. Anyway, Brees is the QB now, he has thrown complete passes to his backs an average of what 80+ times/season the past 3 years? More maybe? That doesnt include hitting his TE 90 times, which he won't do in NO. Its a different QB now, one who like the short stuff.
