Will DHB be suspended? (1 Viewer)

I know this falls under the league's substance abuse policy, but will he simply be fined or is he facing a suspension too? He just pleaded guilty and will receive probation and mandatory DUI counseling by the state. I'm curious if we need to watch out for a league suspension when considering drafting DHB this year.

Can anyone clarify or add insight here? Any prior recent examples of players who did not get suspended after a first time DUI?

Neither. First time substance offenders face no punishment. Jared Allen wasn't suspended until after his 3rd DUI.

Hines Ward was never suspended for his DUI.

no worries, hes pretty much got a clean recorded

It depends. If he had a first strike in the substance abuse program, he could be suspended for up to 4 games. We have no way of knowing for certain if he had tested positive for something prior to this, as that information is not disclosed to the public. If this really is his first strike, he most likely won't be suspended unless there are some other mitigating circumstances that the league would consider his situation an extreme case (aagain, not likely).
