Will HOU Trade #1 to TEN at #3? (1 Viewer)

I'm not a huge draft guru guy, but looking at the Top 3 picks#1 HOU#2 NO#3 TENIt make an overabundance of sense for HOU to trade #1 to TEN for a similar package to what SD got for Eli.HOU ground game is not the problem. Its David Carr being on pace to shatter the all-time sack record for a QB after 4 seasons.They can get OT Ferguson at #3 and HOU can get Bush at #1, re-uniting him with his old USC OC in Norm Chow.If TEN gets Bush, that offense could be real good real quick. They had a real good crop of rookie WRs and two good TEs. Put Bush in there in a Mini-Thunder-Super-Lightning RBBC with Chris Brown and everyone wins.Not to mention NO would be glad to sit back and watch it happen as they'd prefer to stay pat and take Linehart.

Chris Brown is an above average running back, and although Bush is a pretty big upgrade, is it worth trading the #3, a 1st rounder next year (likely to be top 7) and another pick? Foolish. I would say Chris Brown is maybe an above-average RB when healthy. Only problem he is not healthy often.Bush is the perfect RB for the offense Chow wants to run. And the brittle Brown is a nice complement, he can get tough yards and minimize his exposure to potential injuries.

I agree they would be fine with taking DBrick, but OTs don't sell tickets, and like it or not the NFL is a business and some owners have more of an eye on filling seats than winning immediately.

If TEN takes Bush, they will start selling season tickets in April much like Atlanta with Vick.

No way. For starters, the likely #3 pick is either Vince Young or D'Brick. Either would be a good choice for the Titans. If, however, things work out that the Saints pass on Leinart, then the Titans could get him.They stay put and take either Leinart, Ferguson, or Young at 3.ETA: I would also not be surprised to see Jay Cutler ise to the #3 spot. Keep in mind that at this point last year, most people (including Kiper) had Alex Smith as a fringe first-rounder.COlin

Offensive tackles don't sell tickets, successful teams sell tickets. If they give up an extra 1st rounder and another pick, the Titans would be foolish.

Exactly. Everyone who says Houston should trade the pick act like they can't get OL help unless they trade away the best player in the draft. They'll have six other picks and FA's to shore up their line. I think everyone agrees they aren't going to turn it around in one year so they have time to put an OL together. To give away the best player in the draft because you screwed up your line for the past five years is stupid IMO. Of course, if you feel differently about Bush then that is another matter entirely.

Not sure about the contract obligations to Travis Henry, do the Titans have an out in the deal where they could let him go without a big cap hit?Otherwise, this move wouldn't be too crazy. A lot of it would depend on Chow though and how much pull he has.I think I remember though that Chow wasn't too happy in Tennessee? Or, the team wasn't too happy with him? Beuller?

Noting the above bolded section, you might check to see how many games in a row the Titans have sold out vs. how many the Falcons had pre-Vick.The Titans don't need ticket sales, they need to improve their team.

Trading away a shot at DBrick and other high picks to get Bush and the right to pay him #1 OA money would be both incredibly stupid and INCREDIBLY out of character for the Reese-led front office, which has always focused on drafting talent and stockpiling picks, not foolishly trading them away.

After the Babin trade, Houston from a PR standpoint can't afford to trade again with the Titans unless it is an obvious onsided (in Texans favor) deal. Letting the Titans have Bush (or the first pick in general) would be worst than another 2-14 season.

you touch on something most have missed. many in houston still have hard feelings about losing the oilers to tennessee, especially how it happened. it could be a pr nightmare.

I can't see two division rivals, who most likely will be back in the thick of things in a couple of years, doing much business together. Also, Houston bailed Jacksonville out of cap hell in the expansion draft and that completely backfired on them and did nothing but bail the Jags out and help put them where they are today. I'm sure they will be cautious when dealing with a division foe.

No way the Jets trade up to the #1 spot. Terry Bradway isn't that smart (or dumb depending on your point of view). Besides, the Jets need too much help in too many areas to concentrate on just Bush...

I could easily see The titans trade down from the #3 spot, even if their target is a qb or OT.If Cutler and Young both declare you have three potential franchise qbs which means at least one, probably two is available at #4.On OTs there are atleast three names being banded about just after Brick - then there are the top flight defensive players vying for top ten honors, Jimmy Williams, Mario Williams, A.J. Hawk and Kiwanuka.Trade down inside the top ten and one of those guys would fall in the Titans lap.Jets, Raiders, Lions and Cardinals might need a qb.Jets probably need a DE more so they might also trade down a bitRaiders need OT but they just took Gallery - how much is Al Davis willing to pay? Could also use a runstopping DT - but IMHO they will not address that at #6 thoughLions need QB and OL help as wellCardinals need OL - anything to help in the running game - would have to be a all round guy. They are likely to resign Warner - is he a great teacher - if yes, qb could be lower.

Throwing a stud QB/RB at a position when it's not a top need would be a joke. I'm betting that neither HOU nor TEN are that stoopid.
