Will LT Finish the #1 Back this yrear if not (1 Viewer)

Usually it takes over 2000 yards and 20+ TD's to become the #1 back. I don't know that Travis Henry could do that unless he ran for 1700-1800+ and that's a stretch.

Frank Gore can get the yards but the Niners offense is offensive so the TD's will be limited. I don't want to count LT out yet as he has still has the best chance to reach those numbers.

Joseph Addai is getting a lot of work and is in one of the best offenses in the NFL so I think he has a shot at #1. It's still way to early to reach one way or the other. But I think so far Addai, LT,SJax (if the line can get fixed), and maybe Gore can be number one. Travis Henry has an outside shot.

Are we talking about #1 at the end of the season or #1 for the rest of the season? Obviously LT's chances are much better in the latter case.

:wub:Look people who drafted LT (like myself) understood that when drafted he would have a rough two weeks against maybe the two best run defenses in the NFL. This thread will be gone by next week when LT scores three times against the Packers. Give LT sometime. He may not get the 25+ TDs, but by the end of the year, he'll be the top RB.

I wasn't sure if LT should have been ranked #1 rb going into this season but I couldn't figure who to bump him down for. After two weeks I'm still not sure.

Edge? LaMont? While they could finish as the top rb, I'll still take my chances wtih Tomlinson. Addai, FWP, Henry all look to be possibilities thus far but we've got ourselves a very long ways to go.

IMO, you can expect a down week for LT again, he might get some yardage, but TDs are not given up too easily by GB.

Mine Goes to Travis Henry. He has the yds and if the td's come he will be hard to beat.second place would go to Probably Gore
This question would be answered better around week 5...not before week 3...there are RB's with good stats against weak DT's and RB's who are good with weak stats against good DT's so far...so it's needs more time to be answered (my opinion)! Two Rb's in the top ten now won't be there at end of season (J.Lewis, M.Barber) shows stats now hard to judge to early.

Well, I wouldn't count him out just yet. I traded for him week 5 last year, and it worked out pretty well.

Here are LT's numbers in my league last year

Weeks 1-4

Avg. 15.75 ppg

Weeks 5-8

Avg. 30 ppg

Weeks 9-12

Avg. 41.75 ppg

Weeks 13-17

Avg. 30 ppg

That's 15.75 ppg in the first quarter of the season. Then 30+ for the remaining quarters. If I could do it again this year, I would. I don't think the LT owner will make that same mistake 2 years in a row. Here's to tryin though...

I didn't have a chance to draft LT, so I enjoy every week watching his struggles. I hope this goes on for week after week. The worse the top 3 do, the better chance I have a chance to win! LT and LJ continue your suckiness!!

Frank Gore

SF's offense is not firing on all cylinders yet, but once they get D.Jax and V.Davis established....Gore should flourish. I think this kid is the real deal, reminds me a little of Emmitt.

Love those stats!! :cool:Having the #1 draft pick in my draft I actually looked real hard at trading down to where I could get Henry cheaper--figured he was the one in a situation most likely to threaten at the end of the season and the other pick upgrades would benefit. Couldn't make a trade work though with the projections and my leagues scoring, so I'm looking forward to LT taking off again.

After the early bye week (week 4). I look for Portis to go on a tear the rest of the season. I'll give my shot at either him or Gore. I do like the SA call as well.

Yeah, if you drafted LT thinking he was going to repeat last year's performance, you're just not being realistic. Last year was a historical year, one you will rarely ever see again. This year, LT was the consensus #1, and it is well-deserved. When I drafted him in a few leagues (or had him already in a few dynasty/keeper leagues), I knew it would be a rough season overall, having looked at their schedule. That schedule is absolutely ridiculous. To answer the question, will he be the #1 by the end of the year? Sure, it's possible. Will he? Not so sure...

Count me in the Henry camp. If the TD's start coming, which I think they could, he's gonna be tough to stop this year.

LT will finish as the #1 RB barring injury. Book it. He has at least 2 or 3 multiTD games in him, including one or two that should top the list of fantasy performance by any RB this year (something in the 3-5 TD range). LT is fine, he hasnt lost any of his moves or burst, he doesnt appear to be hurt. The team just had a tough matchup in week 1 (and he still had 2 TDs, 1 passing), and they were just buried in week 2. No RB does well when their team is down 17-0 before the fans have finished their second beer.

how about the guy who's topped LT 2 out of the last 3 years: shaun alexander (maybe 3 out of the last 4, i can't remember)
that was when he had a great line and those days aren't returning. He's on his slow descent down....
obviously, there is risk and shaun isn't far away from the decline, but given the candidates, i'd say alexander has a good a shot as any to turn in a #1 season. hutch is gone, but walter jones and the other 3 linemen are still there (to my knowledge). shaun's 170+ yards and 2 TDs so far are similar to the other guys that everyone's going ga-ga over (and henry hasn't crossed the goal-line yet). for his age, shaun's got less wear and tear than most backs his age and the team is the same as the '05 team except for hutch. he still has a coach that will shamelessly allow shaun to pad his TD stats (that's huge). there aren't many backs that you can say without a shadow of a doubt that they will get the ball everytime inside the 5. sure, it's likely that other backs will top him, but shaun (as he's always been) is over-looked. the first 2 weeks have shown that he's got some of that fire back, and, unlike most of the others mentioned, he's done it before. he could still get respectable yardage, but more importantly, he's the guy who could go off or 20 TDs.

I am glad to see so many people picking Portis too... I snagged him up in the draft to go along with Frank Gore, who I also have... and they are both doing great for me right now, and look to have great things coming in the future.

Top 5 at season's end:5. L. Jordan
That would be interesting.. and I think great, too. He had a great 2005 season, but a horrible 2006 season. People discounted him, and called him a flash-in-the-pan. But I think he's a good back. He plays on a team with a not-so-great passing game. I actually feel sorry for him in Oakland. Imagine him in Denver or elsewhere.. Not so sure about Top 5 for him though. When Rhodes comes back, that will cut into his touches a little. Once their passing game picks up a bit, that will also cut it down (though they ARE using him a bit more in the passing game, which is nice)...
