Dude, no one I know (yourself included, see above) expected them to continue this tear at this pace in the face of their injuries. You might consider chilling out on the rhetoric, I was just posting a prediction, and gave my reasons for it. They are playing almost at (yes, almost) the pace of the Rockies last year, finding ways to win night after night. In light of the recent run I gotta say I have a hard time seeing the Sox surpass them for the division.
Stay the course. You can't backtrack now. You may as well just hold onto your prediction. We have seen September collapses before, they still have a tough schedule.

Sox will win the division.
btw, still want those tix for 9/2? Lemme know

The division will be decided in the 6 games they play each other.

As I said before though, I just want to see the Rays make the playoffs. It would be cool to win the division and an easier road once they get there, but just get in.

The Rays are gonna win!

Signed,

Matt Hasselbeck

Hide the women and children tonight - Jackson will get lit up

I can't believe I'm bothering to respond to you, but what do you suggest they do? Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria AND BJ Upton are all hurt. That's 3 of their 4 best offensive players. Stop being an idiot.

Wow, Timlin is beyond awful.

Blown game 2 nights in a row. That said, credit to the Rays, great series by the team.

Good night

Capella, did you happen to catch Mike & Mike this morning? Greenie was ripping the Rays fans for only filling 32,000 seats last night at Tropicana Field. A couple of Tampa and St. Pete guys e-mailed in saying the Trop was too far from Tampa, and that the stadium is a dump with no parking and in and unsafe area. Greenie wasn't having it.

Am I mistaken, or isn't a new stadium coming? Where in the metro area will it be?

The new stadium has been shelved for at least a year. It is planned for the site of the Rays old spring training field, Al Lang Field, which is on the waterfront in St. Pete. There would be less parking there than at the Trop.

They're working supposedly on a new spot near the HoFra bridge...closer to Tampa and easier to get to for the Hillsborough County and Orlando people.

Any reason you haven't bumped this tonight, wilked?
:goodposting: I think I know the answer.
lol at bitter Yankee fans :rofl:Rays got the division, they certainly deserve it. Kudos to the team.Silver lining is that Sox can rest their guys, set the lineup...Frankly, to win the WS they would have had to travel to LA to beat the Angels one way or another, whether it is the ALDS or ALCS is sort of irrelevant.

It's not over yet, but it may be close after this weekend.

DougB - to answer your question, I don't worry about what people outside think about the team or the attendance. There's a lot of excuses why the team isn't better in attendance, but all I say is the Bucs have sold out every game since 1997 and the Bolts are top-10 in the NHL in attendance. The USF Bulls pulled 60k in Friday night. I have no doubts this team would draw great crowds if located in Tampa or closer to it, and I live 10 minutes from the dome.

Btw, 32 and 36k the past two nights.

And a lot of them were Sox fans.
No, they weren't. I was there both nights. But it's funny seeing you clinging to whatever you can at this point, seeing how consistently and amazingly wrong you've been about the Rays.
There weren't a lot of Sox fans at the game? I didn't say there were more Sox fans, I said there were a lot of Sox fans. How does Tampa draw when the Sox aren't in town? Are they still hitting the 30,000 mark?

No there weren't a lot last night. I'd say 90/10 and 75/25 Tuesday. Wasn't there Monday.

As for their attendance, I really don't care. I have no financial interest in the team. People can cling to whatever they like though.

I hope so, got them at 35:1

Just mainly Wilked and Jefferson. They were particularly wrong. Over and over and mindnumbingly over again. I'd like to go back and find some of Jefferson's quotes about how the Rays will forever suck and their prospects will never pan out, but there's enough hilarity in here to keep me busy.

After a while, you'd think someone would realize they were being routed and just give up. There's fighting to the end when you have a chance to win and then there's trying to go Alamo when you have no shot. Congrats to the Rays. Enjoy the ride GB.
