I saw this myself.Clayton on ESPN just said he'll likely start but not play much
They still have LeRon McClain, and they tipped their hand during the preseason to the possibility of going with McClain at TB and Neal at FB. If McGahee plays very little or if he's inactive, then expect Rice to get most of the carries but McClain to get some work, too.I'd be surprised to see him as OUT considering they've only got two true RBs on the roster (Rice, McGahee + Lorenzo Neal). He practiced each day this week and there's nobody else behind the rookie. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he's active.
ESPN's John Clayton reports that Willis McGahee (knee) looked good in practice Saturday and will likely be active Sunday. There is next to no doubt that McGahee will be active because the Ravens have only two backs on their 53-man roster and need McGahee for at least backup duty, but he is unlikely to get a large chunk of carries. Do not play him.
My question is, why even play Willis if he isn't "going to play much". If he's in such bad shape that he can only play on a limited basis, why risk losing him for the whole season?Either he can play or he can't.Clayton on ESPN just said he'll likely start but not play much
Maybe they want him to get into game shape, so they will play him sparingly just to give him some time on the field to help him along. My question is, why even play Willis if he isn't "going to play much". Have him get in there and take a couple hits and let him run. Pull him after a couple of series and then see how his knee reacts so you know if he really is healed going into next week. I expect him to start and get about 5 carries, maybe a catch and then they put in Rice. If everything goes well this week in practice and there is no swelling in the knee I expect him to start next week and get 75 % of the carries. They're using this week to see what they've got with McGahee and to see how the knee and McGahee react to actual playing time.GO FLACCO!My question is, why even play Willis if he isn't "going to play much". They are saying Ravens likely to ease McGahee in the line-up today due to lack of contact in pre-season. Rice likely to start.Sorry no link, just listening to radio on internet.Seems like they are suggesting the Willis is basically in a reserve role today.WBAL radio is reporting McGahee and Ed Reed will play today.Didn't say how much yet. Still listening.
this is just the kind of game where all the conventional wisdom ends up being flat out wrong and McGahee ends up running for 120 yards and a score. They are saying Ravens likely to ease McGahee in the line-up today due to lack of contact in pre-season.
