One guy GWB wants, one guy I want. Should make the morning interesting.
neither one is a starter
I had a feeling that was coming.
 it's true
Seriously, I know.
It makes me feel better when harrier doesn't consider my player a starter.
I've made 4 picks and haven't received a NAS grade yet
sorry to hear that.

I don't think innings will be an issue this time around, so you've got that going for you :coffee:

I will be interested to see how yours plays out against ours. We are saving pitching till later, you the opposite. I hope you get some sticks that will drive Bonds in after he walks.

I feel like a lot of pitchers underperform in this thing. You're taking on a ton of risk with this strategy.

I'm surprised you're going this route given your propensity to find good pitching later in the draft. I would think it would be even easier to do so this time around.

I agree completely--but that's the reason I went with this strategy. Last time, even Dean Chance underperformed for me. This time, I went only with proven winners, rather than relying on metrics to find good guys later in the draft.

Harder, I think. It's certainly possible, but it seems like with hitting being as strong as it is here, most pitchers will underperform, so it will be harder to find value among lower-level pitchers. Opening the sim up to all batting seasons makes WAY more good batting seasons available. It doesn't make that many more pitching seasons available, though--in the best 50 pitching seasons, there's only a couple names that get repeated.Edit: If I find a pitcher later in the draft that I think is great value, I can hold on to him, and trade either Sutton or Brown for a bat. They're proven value, so people won't try to undercut in trade offers for them.

BTw, Miller Park is f'ing beautiful. Great food too. I HIGHLY recommend a trip there. I hope the new Twins park is even close too as nice.

Boston homers, what's the likelihood that Papelbon is closer again next year? I have a chance to acquire him at $11 for 2007.

Time limit yet?
Yeah, time limit is 4hrs, starting at 10am Eastern and running until 10pm Eastern. It's a big time limit because we've been moving along well and we don't want to skip people for these important picks. It'll drop to 2hrs, then 1hr, later in the draft.

I'd say Slim, depends on Hansen's development. I know they are stretching out Hansen right now but I think that's only to provide short term flexability. Pap will be much more valuable long term to the Sox as a starter IMO. Hansen is the closer of the future due to his lack of a third pitch.

I'll be interested to see how it works our for you.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks. I guess it will have something to do with how it plays out. If keeps this up it'll be hard to justify switching things around.

Either way I think he's worth the $11

If the last sim is any barometer, it will be difficult to win by saving hitting for later.Look at my team and RnR's as examples. I went pitching heavy and early. In contrast, RnR had some crazy hitting early and filled in with pitching later. As it turned out, my team was first or second in nearly every pitching category, but near the bottom in most hitting categories. I finished out of the playoffs. My plan of playing station to station small ball with high OBP (players I was able to obtain later in the draft) failed utterly. Pathetic slugging killed me.

At least based on the last two SIMs, the more successful teams seem to go with either a balanced draft or hitting heavy.

I believe RnR finished near the top offensively and his pitching was good enough to carry him through.
