WIS V All-Time Baseball Draft: HARRRRRRRIFIC (2 Viewers)

i will be playing softball till 7ish, so if it gets to me, call me:  571-643-3150
what position?
If I had to guess, rover.
Nah, 3rd base. Cannon arm.
I was thinking more along the lines of the little nerdy chicken that always beat Foghorn Leghorn at baseball by calculating everything with a sliderule.
:lmao: "Nice hit....I say nice hit Aaron."

"Yeah, I know"
LinkApparently, his name is Egghead Jr.

1909 honus wagner
...and the winner of the fifth-best available Honus award is...
It's funny because this is the 4th one drafted.
oh, i meant 5th available right now. it's 8th best honus overall, in my opinion
:lmao:
Actually, after '08 Honus, there isn't a huge seperation between the next 7. I think they are definitely distinguishable, but I don't think any great errors have been made.
Also, one of the remaining Honii can't play SS.

With Wagner's D fielding rating, there will be plenty of errors once the league starts

Can someone tell me how many pitchers I'm going to want to draft? How do the SIMs do relief? Do you identify starters and relievers? TIA.

you can set all kinds of combinations of starters and relievers.aim for at least 1500 innings.

The way these lineups should end up ... you could have Nap hitting like 7 or 8.

Have to see with Nap. His raw numbers are not as good as the + numbers (176+ slugging for example). So I have to determine how that will work itself out. Definately not a Homer Heavy lineup, but by the end it should have enough pop. A lot of XBHs... but some of these lineups are going to be simply grotesque.

If it wasn't for the DH, I'd probably carry 12 pitchers. All offenses are going to be outstanding, significantly moreso than in previous sims. The DH is going to be a major factor as are the multiple Ruths, Bondseses and Hornsbys. Bullpen pitch count matters more than just IP. There will be many games where all available relievers are used. Plus, nobody's ever been able to totally nail pitcher projections. Some pitchers who look good in the database just plain suck in the sim. This may be a factor of small sample size, but it happens to almost every team in every league.

He was one of two guys neck and neck with Speaker, however that would have meant I definately needed an OF next as I have a 1B. So I went Speaker to give me a little flexibility along with some more walks. This way I can either go OF or DH later in the draft.

Can we agree on a pick posting format? Would make coppying and pasting much easier.

How bout the front page format:

Player, Position (year)

i.e. Albert Belle, OF (1994)

:nerd:

1. 2B 1925 Rogers Hornsby R 640 533 39 143 5-3 39-83 12.9 .403 .489 .756 D/B

2. 1B 1994 Frank Thomas R 741 572 38 101 2-3 61-109 10.5 .353 .487 .729 B/C-

3. OF 1994 Albert Belle R 688 590 36 101 9-6 71-58 11.4 .357 .438 .714 C/B

4. SS 1996 Alex Rodriguez R 681 604 36 123 15-4 104-59 16.7 .358 .414 .631 A/B-

5. C 2003 Javy Lopez R 495 457 43 109 0-1 90-33 10.6 .328 .378 .687 A/A

Insane to think that right now, that's probably one of the weakest lineups in this thing. Should get better though, since I have my rotation and thinner positions filled.

Yeah, the walk thing held me back some too, and I'll be moving Aaron to DH now. I couldn't ignore the speed and the average anymore though.

That's why I got me an A-Rod. That and the power hitting.
