With Fitz signed, could Boldin be on the move? (1 Viewer)

As a Saints fan, would LOVE to sign him but doubt it's possible. Same suitors as for Fitz? Eagles back in the race?

Boldin is not going anywhere. He's currently got a reasonable contract and played WR like a LB. He is the heart of that team.
"NFL Network's Adam Schefter believes the same teams that targeted Fitz in trades could now pursue Boldin. He hints at the Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles as possibilities. Q would fit terrifically in a West Coast offense."

Like Pat said his contract is great for the next 3 years 2.5 in 2008, 2.75 in 2009, and 3.0M in 2010......Boldin is a steal at those prices when you look at what FA wr's are getting this off season.....I see no reason Zona would trade him

well, Q can force their hand, he wants to get paid, and he is underpaid, so a holdout could definitely loom. They can't pay both.

And why cant they pay them both??? I could see them paying both the WR's and letting Dansby walk after this season. He is playing on the franchise tag....

As a Cardinal fan I would rather see them move Fitz than Boldin. This guy is a beast! Not only does he catch the ball but he can block! Reminds me of a younger, better Hines Ward!

Boldin is out of there. No way they can guarantee $60 million to WR's. His agent will have him complaining any day now. And he's not gonna play for 2.5 when Fitz is getting 10. Remember, Fitz had a contract too.

Fitz had a contract that the TEAM wanted to change. Boldin has a contract that HE wants to change. Huge difference.:slownewsday:

PFT has expanded on what we already knew...

POSTED 10:30 p.m. EDT, March 11, 2008ANQUAN BOLTIN'?Now that the Cardinals have locked up receiver Larry Fitzgerald at a more affordable (or, as the case may be, less unaffordable) price over the next four seasons, they might have to deal with another thorny issue at the position.According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Anquan Boldin could want more money and/or a trade in the wake of Fitzgerald's $10 million-per-year contract.Per Schefter, some in the Cardinals organization actually regard Boldin as the better wideout. But Boldin will make far, far less than Fitzgerald over the next three seasons -- he's due to earn base salaries of $2.5 million, $2.75 million, $3 million. In our view, Fitzgerald and Boldin together is a luxury that the Cardinals don't need, especially with coach Ken Whisenhunt presumably trying to bring a Pittsburgh-style power running vibe to the desert.Assuming that the Cardinals have a plan (which could be a dangerous assumption because we're talking about, you know, the Cardinals), the huge deal given to Fitzgerald should be regarded as evidence that they've opted to keep Fitzgerald over the long haul, and to get what they can for Boldin.Throw in the fact that Boldin is represented by Drew Rosenhaus, and the stage is set for Boldin to start making noise about moving on.Possible destinations are Philly, Dallas, and the Redskins.

Boldin's agent is Drew Rosenhaus....oh he gonna get paid! I see a training camp holdout coming, with a late August trade to Dallas.

lol this is funny....i swear Schefter just pulls crap out of his #### to make it look like hes breakin some huge story

Yeah, I can't believe they list Philly as a possible destination when Rosenhaus is his agent.

a hold out is a tuff sell with 3 years left on your contract.......with one year left you have some leveragea(you can sit part of the year and come back and get credit for the whole year)....but with 3 years left you got nothing

This is an interesting situation Boldin now finds himself in. His partner in crime just got the HUGE chunk of cash. Some of which should arguably be Boldin's. Because we all pretty much see this 2 as being at the very least near equals. But for Larry to get 10, and Boldin only 2.5, that's just not right. Im sure we'd all agree. But its nevertheless a contract he signed, so he's bound to it. Doesnt mean he has to like it. But it also doesnt mean he needs to start holding out. And Im quite sure he's pretty happy for his boy Larry for getting paid. But he's also gotta be in possession of his own bigger picture. And Im sure he understands what it ultimately means. That he can stay there and play for relative peanuts in comparison to his running mate for the next 3 years, or he can play a year, put up some #s, and put a little heat on the FO to either pay up, or let him find another suitable team willing to pay him what he no doubt feels he deserves.

As for his immediate prospects entering next season with the Cards, I wouldnt worry. He'll be a good solder and do his part. But after '08, Id really expect him to somehow make his way to another team. I cant see AZ paying similar players at the same position off the charts money. But you never know. Its worked well for Indy, paying 2 receivers large money, as well as the Rams to a degree. I just wouldnt hold my breath. And every other team in the NFL could use a player like Anquan Boldin. The man is a stud playmaker, and should be worth atleast a 2nd round pick in a trade, if not a late 1st.

Last night Schefter said that the Cardinals approached Boldin earlier in the year about re-doing his deal, Boldin’s response was he wanted to wait to see what happen with Fitz 1st.

Wow. Id be interested to hear Boldin's take now that Fitz' deal is done. Id think he may be kicking himself a little because Im sure he'd want similar money as Larry. I just cant really see how that's fiscally possible though and keep balanced talent on that roster.

This morning on NFL Sirius they had on Karlos Dansby, and he talked about how his agent was going to try to get a longer term deal even though he's got the tag on him now that Fitzgerald is taken care of.They asked him, what if Anquan Boldin's agent pipes up and starts making noise for a new deal for him, how would he (Dansby) react? He said he'd hope they'd treat him like he's next in line (paraphrased) but they already tagged him, so if Anquan wants to get a new deal, then maybe they will focus on him and deal with that.FWIW, he seemed a bit envious of Calvin Pace's new deal with the Jets, but he said it was a good thing, that that kind of money is available but sad that he is tagged and doesn't have a long term deal with a lot more guaranteed (yet).

He's actually relatively reliable with the stories he breaks.

You poeple just talk and have no basis to your claims. Why would you even say this? Link? Logic? BS?

Either way, the team wants their players to be relatively happy. I think the team will make some effort to rework the deal. The bigger question is how did Q get in that deal to begin with?

Who is this team giving money to that they can't afford to pay both Fitz & Boldin? Would be curious to see what the cap breakout looks like ...

Boldin will play his ### off this year...ask for a new contract and if he doesnt get it then ask to be able to seek a trade.

Cards can live without him given Whiz does not want the team to be a pass happy offense...though in this case trading fitz might make more sense.

 Whats Boldin going to do? Sit out til midseason through 2010?If the Cards want to be nice, they'll give him a modest bump, but they aren't going to give him even Bernard Berrian money for at least another season.

Exactly. I like him to stay in Arizona. They are building a nice nucleus there.
