Who should be the shark pickup in this deal that will be the Patriots started in Moss' place? Tate seems mentioned alot-

I've seen Endelman mentioned but I believe he's more of a Welker type slot guy...

What kind of #s are we talking? I was thinking of trying to trade for Wallace, but I am tempted to package something for Tate now.

the whole offense would change - Tate has speed but is built more like a slor receiver - his value goes up, but the more likely outcome is that the extra targets would be distributed to the others equally. For example, Edelman (when healthy) would get a lot more snaps . . .

No one. I would guess the production would get cut into smaller pieces and divided among the other options but no one jumps up to a 1200-1400/15 TD guy.

:football: Shark move is to listen to all the crazy offers for Tate in the next 24 hours and take the best one, all the while going and getting Hernandez.

No one becomes the next Randy Moss. He drew double teams that would not be necessary for Brandon Tate. Could Tate get 1,000 yards and 6-8 TD's? Sure. Could he become anything close to Moss? Very doubtful.

Losing Moss would hurt the offense bigtime.

I know DY will chime in but I think that Tate is obviously an add, but dont go overboard with your expectations . . .

Correct answer.Might bump the running game a bit.

More interesting question to me is not who gets Moss' numbers (one or several players), but does this help, hurt, or not impact Tom Brady's numbers?

My sense is that Brady is great, is going to spread it around regardless, and going to be a productive, top tier QB. BUT, if Moss leaves, Brady's ceiling gets capped considerably. Those long TDs and those huge chunks of yardage that Moss could gobble up (literally with one hand) go away.

Just my two cents.

 Tate is still unproven as an every down WR in this offense. Brady will spread the ball around to the open man. I was at the game last night and saw they lined Hernandez up as a WR on several plays. Him and Gronk will replace Moss as red zone targets.

Fair point, but at the same time, you have to imagine the NE organization would not be trading away Moss IN MID SEASON if they weren't confident on some level that the player they're replacing Moss with - Tate - will be effective as an every down starter.I mean, unless Moss has done some terrible stuff behind the scenes in the locker room, you don't go trading the guy in mid season without being pretty comfortable that you have a credible replacement for him.So Tate must have shown Belechick something real. Of course, that's not to suggest Tate will come anywhere near Moss's normal production. But he will be effective.

Tate seems like the obvious choice. I don't think he'll ever be a dominant WR1 like Randy, but he can be a good starter in the mold of Donald Driver or Derrick Mason. Those are two players that I compared him to when he was a draft prospect. After watching some of his NFL returns, I think he might even be more explosive than those two.

i would think hernandez. with brady just not having not nearly as good statistics and the WRs getting the ball a lot less. Circa 2000-2005 pats.

He was compared to Josh Cribbs out of college, a potentially dominant special teams player but a work in progress as a WR.

Am I the only one thinking that this could boost Danny Woodhead's value?

He's listed as a RB-only in my league but I still think he could be productive now. He just seems like a perfect fit for this offense - the "Welker" of the RB core.

Yep, you're the only one. Woodhead has a nice niche right now, but you're asking for trouble if you try to expand that role. Small guy - can only take so much of a beating.

Would be the "Welker" for any other reason then the fact he's a white boy? Can't he be the Woodhead?

My question would be, what does this do to Tate for KR leagues? Will he continue returning kicks? If so, his value is huge now for leagues with KR points.

That's sort of how it seems to me too.J
I thought that too, and while I think Hernandez will gain value, I believe they still need someone to stretch the field to keep the middle lanes open. I think Tate is that guy, and I think he becomes a serviceable WR2.

Who will step up in place of Randy Moss? I no Welker will see his #s go up but who will be the outside threat?

Tate has got to be the play here if Moss honestly gets traded. He had a pretty good game this week even with Moss in there.

I am not sure if you have noticed but Moss's role hasn't been that big this year. The Patriots have changed their offense to take advantage of the their two young tight ends.

I'd imagine Tate will replace him on the outside but his numbers probably will only stay on pace with what Moss's numbers have been so far, which isn't much.

I actually think Gronkowski's role will increase quite a bit and Hernandez is a given to produce a lot more.

With who? Sorry but the BGE is an average talent. He needs a great passing game to allow running lanes to emerge. He's a very average RB.
Average talent or not, he can, has, and will continue to be productive in this offense.

I think Tate fills Moss' spot but I agree with Yudkin when he says that its more of a bump for all Patriots weapons than one major bump for Tate. That being said, if you own him in a return yardage leagues he's already a low end WR1 so this probably moves him to an every week starter

I think it's Tate, and it's Tate in a big way. :lmao:
 I can see top 20WR #s from him....now.
Tate is still a work in progress as a WR and he will NOT be a top 20 WR. People are expecting him to step into Randy's shoes and post big numbers. He is a nice pickup but I would temper expectations.
Keep in mind that Tate was the best WR on a north carolina team that included Nicks until Tate suffered a knee injury. They ran a pro style offense so he might not be that much of a work in progress.
