Women's March on Washington (1 Viewer)

A reply of mine in another thread, but worth noting here:

If your fallback is calling out protesters for being on the wrong half of the offdee scale and saying they need dicking, maybe you are part of the reason we need these protests in ####### 2017.
Probably should have read this before my last post

Just saw this posted... " ATTENTION MARCHERS! Text the words COUNT ME to 89800 if you marched today. Organizers are trying to get a city by city count. (This is for all marches in all cities)."

23-page Cliff's notes?

I was originally booked to march in DC today but had to cancel; ended up doing the Seattle march instead.

I was worried about going because I didn't want to be in the midst of a bunch of anger - I might feel some anger but didn't want to dwell on that.  What I found instead was the most positive, uplifting experience I could have imagined.  Beautiful, beautiful day.
It was a beautiful day...Didn't watch any news ,was outside enjoying the weather , working in the yard , drinking beer.... Nobody else around , wonderful just wonderful..

Speaking of petulance and immaturity, can you explain to me how your side accepts the fact that Trump's press secretary just lied to us all about the number of people at the innaguration?  Who does that?  Why do they feel a need to lie about something so stupid and obvious to everybody?  This is Iraq press secretary level bad and we all laughed at that.  Do you have any answer for this?  It's so stupid.
Just setting the record straight.., Don't worry, things will be much different when the state run media is in place. We won't have these inconsistencies.

You Republicans are a funny lot. You want to spend billions to build a wall and keep Mexicans out, but you don't want to spend millions to give them access to birth control for the ones who are already here.  The logic is.....well, the logic is weird.  Do you want more Mexicans or not want more Mexicans?  Which is it?  Pick a lane.

29% of Latino Vote

I mentioned it for two reasons:

1) while the gap in votes may be a measure of popularity, it wasn't enough of a detriment to keep him out of office.  So whatever detriment Higgs is claiming wasn't all that meaningful, especially since Trump has spoken in favor of all sides of the issue, depending on the time and the audience.

2) I knew it would trigger a Pavlovian response from some of the Trump supporters, highlighting even further how far they missed the point of my post.  And look at them!  I could have put on an Admiral Ackbar mask and yelled "IT'S A TRAP!" and not been more obvious it was a setup. But they can't help themselves.
Ok. My 6 word sentence "triggered" this 2 paragraph explanation. Lol. You still don't see it...

See Trumpkins, a confirmed 10 in attendance.

Yeah, she's an idiot and I cringed as soon as I saw that she was given the floor. Knew she would find a way to make it about her.
I watched a portion of Ashley Judds ,,, silly ...We are nasty ????

Nasty definition: highly unpleasant ; especially to the senses; physically nauseating

Why protest Trump if you in fact agree with him?

wouldnt be more effective if they said "we are not nasty, we are beautiful, wonderful people"

I think getting regular citizens to be active in our political dialog is a postive thing, even more so if it is women. However, a single march will do nothing to change things. It would be great if this leads to women becoming more politically active at the local, state and federal level. We could use an infusion of women candidates to run for office of all shape and sizes.  Politics is dominated by men and people who make careers out of being a politician.  I suspect women politicians are less likely to be corrupt and would be more focused on doing what is best for the people.  I know a lot of people saying great things about this march have been very critical of populism recently but perhaps this might get them to view it a little less so.

Trump has 4 years to win over his detractors.  If he doesn't improve in just about every way, he'll get swept out of office bigly.  It's clear that the reality of a Trump presidency has motivated those who may not have been motivated prior to the election.

He won't change of course and with the momentum of the county working against him the odds are he'll go down as a failed president.

Yeah, it's still early to say, but I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more people motivated to take action at local, state, and national levels in the coming months and years. More so than I've seen in my life.

I'll believe it when I see it.  People need to get off their ### and vote.

I did not attend, but everybody I know who did (DC/NYC; and it was a LOT of people) came away with similar comments. They were blown away by how overwhelmingly positive the tone was. No anger to speak of.

Trump called Clinton a nasty women on a debate stage which was a totally inappropriate statement. This is turning that type of rhetoric against him. Not hard to see that.

So glad that's over, women were acting real stupid at the bar yesterday.
This is actually true from my perspective. We had lots of women going bat####crazy last night.  Fighting each other and being ssaholes in general.

Threw out a bunch. Once outside, some had to eat pepperspray.  lol   But we typically see a night like this about 3 times a year. Not just lesbians either.

I promised a hotness report from the NYC march for our cheeto abusing conservative trolls.

We left for the march at 2:30 after our 1 year old woke up from his nap. It took 45 minutes to get to Manhattan from Brooklyn because weekend subways are the suck. Half of the riders had protest signs and were a mix of 5-7s with their husbands/boyfriends, 7-9s in groups of 2-4 with protest signs like "I'm a Nasty Girl" and things like that. And yes, there were a few 2s and 10s too. NYC has a mix.

We got off at 51st and Lex and headed to the start of the march at 46th and 2nd.  We did not get very far. We joined the crowd at 49th and the march was at a complete standstill. As far as the eye could see in all directions there were 8s and 9s and 7s, 3s and 5s and 6s. There were whites and blacks and asians. There were topless chicks, gay guys, straight guys, moms, dads, muslims, christians, atheists, old broads, old dudes, babies, children, disabled people, nurses, students, bodega workers and doulas. People were chanting and singinging and laughing and supporting each other.  There were great signs including my favorite "Grizzlie just wants to learn." No one caused any problems except a lot of trash. (It's NYC, trash kinda comes with it).   It took us 2.5 hours to walk 7 blocks where we had to exit and take the subway home to feed the kids and put them to bed.  Just a mind bogling number of people.  I've never seen anything like it.

Overall hotness rating: 10.
Solid work here.

Quick question about the "march".  I read and heard that some women were marching because of the lack of equal pay.  Why didn't they do this when Obama was in office?  Do they think Trump will change it?  Not really sure I understand this logic.

He has promised to stand up for the little guy, the people who have been forgotten and are being treated unfairly. That may mean something different to some people, though.

So on the first full day of Trump's presidency, millions of people turned out to protest him. Crowds in at least 3 cities were larger than the crowd  at his inauguration. That is just galling for him and for his most thin-skinned fans. So galling, in fact, that Trump sent Spicer out of the bunker to give the Trump-approved message to the media.

Secondly, photographs of the inaugural proceedings were intentionally framed in a way, in one particular tweet, to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the National Mall.  This was the first time in our nation's history that floor coverings have been used to protect the grass on the Mall.  That had the effect of highlighting any areas where people were not standing, while in years past the grass eliminated this visual.  This was also the first time that fencing and magnetometers went as far back on the Mall, preventing hundreds of thousands of people from being able to access the Mall as quickly as they had in inaugurations past. Inaccurate numbers involving crowd size were also tweeted.
One day in.

I have a question. What was the purpose of these celebrity women(Madonna, Ashley Judd) to take the mic and spew all of those vulgarities and other nonsense? Was that suppose to help their cause? It seemed like a big turnoff to me and something not to be taken seriously. Couldn't they get their point across in a more civil and respectful manner? Were they trying to stoop to the level of their competition or is that their level?

OK. That was more than one question. Sue me.

You know, maybe it's me.  But I don't think it makes you a hypocritical feminist to say that a woman who submitted a sworn affidavit saying a sexual assault never happened might have some credibility issues.
