Woodson and Burnett; crowded safety position? (1 Viewer)

With the recent release of depth charts, Woodson is listed as first at CB but with (SS) next to his name. Then you have Morgan Burnett listed as the strong safety. Given recent DB rankings (with my scoring system in place) both are in the top 5...I thought Woodson's ascent was based on the possibility of SS...but what does that do to Burnett's projections. Should I move them down in rankings based on the potential uncertainty at strong safety?

burnett will be fine, woodson and the packers secondary is a fluid situation where he will just be lining up wherever he's needed. packers play a ton of nickel and woodson drops to cover the slot so burnett will be manning his normal position most of the time regardless. what you have to hope for is that the defense plays as poorly as it did last year to give everyone more snaps/inflated stats

Heyward sounds like he will play dime packages. I would suggest keeping an eye on Davon House (good size/quickness)during the pre-Season. I wouldnt call him a ballhawk, but he does have a nose for the ball (knocked on recovery). http://packerupdate.net/?p=21939 Heck it also might not be a stretch to say Shields could play FS.

Im just trying to look at how GB could possibly improve its defense from a fans perspective. Hopefully Walden and/or Perry provide some motivated play. The Coach has spoken of desiring to have RB's rdy 2 go, imo it wouldnt hurt to have six DB's takin rep's.

fwiw Jerron McMillian (longest dreadlocks) http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20120804/PKR01/120804031/Notebook-Rookie-S-McMillian-springs-into-special-teams-spotlight

Niner pretty much answered your question though. Id still love to know Jene's take. I mean I know Bishop can be labeled top 5 LB, But Burnett and another DB top 5 seems a bit of a stretch.

I think Dezman Moses is the other OLB to keep an eye on after Perry. Walden/Zombo and anyone else that tried playing opposite Matthews has been weak at best, I expect Moses to get a lot of looks in pre-season and we will see if he is for real. He was a DE in college at Tulane, but seems to be a very smart and hard working young man, so hopefully we got a steal.
