World Series starting time (1 Viewer)

It is ridiculuos that these games have to start so late. Us on the East Coast have to stay up past midnight (last night 1 a.m.) to watch the Series. Why? Is it to appease the West Coast? It is very frustrating, this makes it so that my kids aren't able to watch the games like I was able to as a kid. I am assuming that the games start so late so that people on the West Coast won't miss the beginning of the games. I would rather miss the first few innings of a big game than miss the final few innings because it's 1 a.m. I understand that the almighty dollar is the determinate of this, it is just unfortunate for us on the East Coast who consistantly have to put up with this wether it's the World Series or MNF. Just wanted to vent.

prime time = :thumbup:I know what you mean though

Oh, please. I hate to break it to you, but the world does not revolve around those on the East Coast, even though ESPN thinks it does. :goodposting: :fishing:

The bigger issue is why every damn playoff game seems to last around 3 1/2 hours. That is ridiculous.

I'll give you the weekday games because it would be difficult to start a game while people are at work. Actually, #### that. You could catch the start on the radio or find a TV. The end of the game is much more important than the beginning and I can't remember the last time I saw the ending to a late baseball or football game. Makes the attempt at the start of the game pointless because I always wake up to check and see who won.Yesterday was Saturday. There is NO reason why that game should have been started so late. Same for tonight. Oh well, it's done for money and ratings and I'll be glad when Fox and MLB get screwed with only having 4 games.

The start time is only partially to blame for the games running late into the night. Game 3 took 4 hours and 19 minutes for a nine-inning game. Fox is cramming an extra commercial or two every half inning and pitching change, which really takes a cumulative toll.

I know that the NFL tried moving MNF to an earlier slot (8 versus 9) one year and the ratings were lower. In essence, the loss on the West Coast was greater than the gain on the East Coast.

I agree with the concept though, its on too late. I'm a Red Sox fan and I only stayed up for the end of Game 2 and that was only because I was AT the game.

Why the Saturday game can't be earlier is baffling to me. I know that baseball loses big time when it goes up against the NFL, hence why the game is on Sunday night and there is no NFL game.
