Would this be the biggest upset ever (1 Viewer)

You are talking about the team tied with the most SB wins ever 5 second in appearances 7, vs Arizona who is getting there for the first time ever and nobody gave a chance to get outa the first round of the playoffs. I got much respect for Arizona but this would be a big upset, yes or no. History does mean a lot, the franchises with the history and know how of getting to the big game have an advantage I would think.

An upset, yes, but no where near the biggest in history. Hell, there was a much bigger one in last year's Super Bowl.

If this game were in the northeast and it was cold with precipitation, it would be a huge mismatch. In perfect weather, it wouldn't really shock anyone to see Arizona win.

Based only on the historical merits of the franchises, maybe. But I can think of several I would say were bigger (last year comes to mind).

Not even close. Denver beating GB, NYG beating NE and NYG beating Buffalo were much bigger upsets. Hell, the line in the Denver/GB game was double digets!

Not even close.

NYG over NE

NYJ over Balt

NE over Stl

Arizona over Pittsburgh wouldn't come close to being as big of upsets as those three SBs were.

No one has even mentioned the Pats (as 16 point underdogs) beating the Rams.

ETA except for the guy directly above me.

Denver over GB really wasn't that much of an upset. The spread was only so high because a) Denver had gotten beaten badly in their last three Super Bowls, and b) the NFC was still on a run at the time of crushing the AFC in the SB every year. Denver's win broke that streak. An upset? Sure, a mild one, but not a huge one, despite the high spread.
