I can't remember how many horn players they had.  However many they had (let's say 2), he was the first alternate.  If that makes sense.

Sure- he wanted to be the starter but instead rode the bench and barely saw the field. When the starter moved on- instead of promoting him to the starting lineup, they drafted a new kid to start instead.

That makes sense to us. I am sure if we said that to the horn player he would be looking at us like

I'd encourage getting an education or a trade first. After that, talent wins out.

Would I support it with money? Probably not in excess of the support I'd normally give.
