Almost did this. Wife was on board but couldn't convince myself it was a wise decision for my liver. I live 2.5 blocks away from this place.

Have a couple friends that did it. One hit the break even point a few months back. Place has 3 dollar happy hour pints so I think he even based it off when he was drinking.

Its a good place. Beer is excellent, food is OK. Owners are good people.

How do they make sure that he isn't giving free beers to friends?

they don't give their friends free beer cause they don't want to lose their privileges. its a pretty small place. would be totally obvious if you were getting beers for not yourself.

and as someone said this was more about helping out friends and a local business than drinking gobs of beer. sure some people drink tons of "free" beer but most investors go there once a week or so and still spend money on food or their friends spend money on beer
