Per source, Antonio Brown is close to picking a new helmet, and his decision will include a custom-made model and an endorsement deal. So, silver lining.

I still worry from a fantasy football perspective that the missed time getting valuable reps and building chemistry with his new quarterback will have an early season impact on his on field production.

Interesting thought hit me today - what's his exit price? Without turning this into an AC convo I got an offer for him that made me realize I have absolutely no idea what it would take for me to part with him.
1. I'm a raging Raiders homer, so having possibly the best in the NFL at anything on the Raiders hasn't been a reality for like 20 years
2. I'm a definite contender in this league and I'm stacked for another run - Bell, McCaffrey, Cook, Hopkins, AB, Tyreek, etc.
I got offered picks only, so that's a non-starter for my team but I bet there are other contenders out there that would move him for the right price.
So, what's YOUR price?

I was able to trade for him when he was threatening retirement. Traded Miles Boykin and Josh Gordon to a Ravens fan for him and I think it was a steal.

I think it's a buyers market for AB so my price would never be met. I suggest just keeping him and enjoying the ride with him on your favorite team.

Man I’m torn on this crazy *******. I have the 8th pick of 10 with a stable of RB’s from last year so my first two picks are undoubtedly going to be receiver. The ones I see consistently there at 2.03 are AB, Thielen, Diggs, Allen and Cooper. Just so happens - I’m not real high on any of them! Prob comes down to Allen and AB but I think it may be just instinct on draft day. I didn’t like how Thielen ended the year last year, Diggs is too inconsistent, Allen I don’t really have anything against him, and I’m not a fan of Cooper seeing as his track record is much more underperformance than the numbers he put up in Dallas. I see some regression for him this year. I really like Woods tho so maybe I’ll go Chubb here and Woods next round. Sorry thinking out loud!

I took Brown over all those WRs. Honestly I think you are second guessing things too much. Hes ANTONIO BROWN for Gods sakes, one of the best WRs in the history of the NFL and showed no signs of decline last year. Sure hes a nut job and Carr isn't Roethlisberger but I really don't see a huge decline. That being said I wouldn't pass on Chubb for any of those WRs either.

Regarding the first bolded, I'm not sure if it was a physical decline, or a lack or effort, but AB absolutely took a step back last year.
As for the second bolded, I'd be careful in underestimating the impact of these issues, and the many other ones that are piling up. AB has a lot working against him to continue to be anything close to the #1 WR in football. Mid to end of 2nd round seems about right.

AB is one of the best receivers of all time but was never known for running the sharpest routes. What made him great was the chemistry he had with Big Ben. It will be interesting to see how quickly can he establish that with Carr because if it doesn't happen right away AB will start throwing temper tantrums.

Exactly. All his numbers were pretty much in line with his career #s AND he had a career high in TDs. Don't see how that is a step back. I had him last year and every week he was capable of putting up 30 pts for me.

Figured someone would point to that, even though we all know how TDs can fluctuate year-to-year. His YPC also dropped by almost 3 yards last year, anything we can take from that?
I'm basing my comments on the nuances I saw during the actual games from last year, which was the first time I found myself questioning AB. Including a few times last year where he failed to keep his feet in bounds on sideline catches, not running routes full speed (when he likely wasn't the primary WR) and Ben throwing in front of him, a general lack of second-effort in run blocking, and times where he had the right angle on a CB but didn't have as much success getting by them.
I'm not trying to say he fell off a cliff, but I will stand by my statement that last year was the first time I noticed a general decline in his play, as slight as it may be.

Ben complained about Brown rounding off a few routes but generally he has been regarded as one of the best route runners in the NFL.

You're comparing his YPC to his career high YPC in 2017 which was clearly an outlier.
Edit: Actually his career high was in 2011 but since then 2017 seems like a clear outlier.

I’d be more concerned about how committed Brown’s effort will be when his team is 1-5 or 2-7 than I am about his skills diminishing.

Means they will be down late in game, perfect for garbage time stats. I'm not sure that even Brown is dumb enough to think he could go from the Steelers to the Raiders and the team's win/loss record would improve. He went for the cash.

He didn’t hand pick going to Oakland though. Brown just doesn’t strike me as a guy who’s going to be full throttle in a 31-13 game in week 9 when his team is abysmal. I can totally picture him sulking on the sideline rather than being out there battling in that scenario. Will be entertaining nonetheless.

Of the few teams that were willing to trade for him, yes. My point is that he wasn’t a free agent with the ability to sign anywhere. I’d have to think there are at least a dozen other teams he’d rather be on right now, and that’s probably a conservative estimate.

I don't think he cares about winning as much as you think he does. Week 17 last year is Exhibit A. The helmet issue is Exhibit B. The guy is about one thing and one thing only... HIMSELF.

We shall see. We don’t have a sample of how he deals with being on a really bad team. Maybe he doesn’t even know how important winning is to him. I won’t own him anywhere this season, but I’m definitely interested to see how this plays out. Good to see you Shady, hope all is well.

He wanted to wear a non certified helmet. Pretty sure that's not what his grievance was about.
It was reported that the reason he wanted to keep the old helmet was because of peripheral vision problems with the new ones. If you can't see as well to the sides you're at higher risk for blind side shots. Pretty clearly a heath and safety issue (from his point of view, this does not take into account whether or not any helmets are "safer" in regards to concussions).

I really could give a #### about any of his antics. All I care about is what he does on Sunday for my FF team.
And he has never let me down. I expect elite production again this season. Guy is still in the prime of his career and is the centerpiece of that offense. Plain and simple. Just #### and play.

Carr can't hold Roethlisberger's jock strap. But one thing that AB has going for him is that the Raiders have no choice to feed him the ball. If AB is not getting targeted 10+ times per game, he will freak out. They'll absolutely give AB his targets just to minimize the drama.

Totally agree, from a fantasy perspective his DIVA attitude is the biggest concern. It's top of list, right above the big drop-offs from Big Ben to Carr and from Steelers O to the Raiders.
Below those is his inevitable slow physical decline.
And regarding keeping AB happy by feeding him targets, that only works if it results in big stats. He will not be happy if he's targeted 17 times a game but ends up with a 8-89-0 stat line.

Not a fan of editing quotes. If you disagree, state your reasons why. If he could be making the same money on another team, he’d rather be elsewhere in my opinion.
