WR Byron Pringle, CHI (1 Viewer)

Years ago, another wide receiver left KC after his first contract was up and went to the NFC. Last 2 years in KC - 35/586/6, 14/198/1. Pringle's last 2 in KC - 42/568/5, 13/160/1. Very similar numbers. Who was that other guy? Joe Horn. Not saying anything just stating a fact.

You never know
Joe Horn was one of the best FA signings ever. He had 94/1300/8 his first year in New Orleans. And it's not like he was young, he was 28 his first season with the Saints.

Cool stat.

I will say Joe Horn had shown more than Pringle to that point, considering he was catching passes from Elvis Grbac, not Patrick Mahomes. People around the NFL at the time, thought Horn was underutilized, and while the level of his breakout in NO was much more than expected, it was expected a bit.

As a Bears fan, I couldn't be more underwhelmed by this signing, and really this offseason in general, and am hoping they draft 2 WRs with their first 4 picks. Its gonna be really hard to judge Fields if his top-2 guys are Mooney/Pringle and it doesn't work. Of course on the flip side, if it does work, the conversation of whether Fields is a top-5ish QB in the NFC begins.

He had a pretty extensive and serious criminal history as a kid, which is part of the reason he’s relatively so old compared to his NFL experience.

he wasn't really a blue chip prospect coming out of high school....looked a lot like all the others at the same position...there wasn't really anything separating him from the rest....
As a teen, Pringle served four years of probation and 100 hours of community service for burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft.

TMZ reports Bears WR Byron Pringle was arrested in Florida for doing donuts on a public road with a suspended license.

Pringle, signed by the Bears in March after three years in Kansas City, reportedly had a child in the vehicle. Pringle, 28, was "verbally confrontational" with police at the scene, according to TMZ. Pringle could be subject to punishment by the Bears or the NFL, depending on the outcome of his case.

It won't happen, but I hope the Bears cut him. Its not like he's a good WR anyway.

Mooney is in line to get 200+ targets this year unless the Bears make a big trade. They don't have the draft capital to get a WR in the 1st round.

Jarvis Landry would be a great fit
Yep, so would Will Fuller or Cole Beasley. Julio too, but I'd imagine he's more con concerned with playing for a contender. All of those guys (and other vets like Hilton, Sanders, even Watkins) are/were better options than Pringle.

Deep WR class though, and still some quality FAs available.
True - although relying on a rookie as the #2 for an inexperienced QB is not a good luck. Good point about FAs though - guys like Landry (mentioned above) and Fuller could help.

Unfortunately, I really haven’t seen much evidence that the Bears front office wants to make any moves to compete this year.

I agree, but the Bears seem to not really be interested in doing logical things right now. Its too early to say for sure, but I'm really not a fan of anything I've seen out of the new FO.

Or, what he said.

Step 1: draft player in 20th and final round of BB Tourney as a what the heck dart throw

Step 2: give it about 15 minutes and then read that said player was arrested that morning for doing donuts with kid in the car

Step 3: facepalm

It's illegal to do donuts with your kid in the car?

That's the most ridiculous thing I'm taking from this whole mess.
I think they just threw in that his kid was in his car as an extra "WTF?".

It looks like a reckless driving charge and driving with a suspended license. I doubt he gets any kind of suspension from the league for something as minor as this.

In my neighborhood it’s just called “a Thursday “

Byron Pringle caught 1-of-2 targets for 22 yards in the Bears' Week 1 win over the 49ers.

Pro Football Focus charted Pringle playing just 10 snaps in this rain-soaked game, 13 fewer than Dante Pettis, who scored a 51-yard touchdown. Although there will be more passing volume going forward — Justin Fields attempted just 17 throws as the rain swirled — Pringle doesn't seem to be a consideration in 12-team leagues.
