What a dichotomy. WRs are super important to their team but their stats are greatly affected by poor QB play or lack of targets. Therefore, this is used Against them in future earnings / contracts negotiations. I wish it weren’t but the reality is that it probably is.Based on his time in Pit DJ is short to mid game possession receiver. Good separation and route runner. Hands could be better. Not a deep threat.
One thing overlooked is he pouts and becomes disengaged if not getting “enough” targets. His attitude is a significant reason why IMO Pit traded him in the offseason.
So, what is the break even point? Do you put up with diva WRs that perform, and then dump them a year early (Diggs is a prime example.) When is it no longer “worth it” for a team even though it’s a good player? There is nothing to suggest DJ play is falling off, but Pittsburgh is usually well managed in the sense that it’s better to be a year early than late.
