"As a result of an NFL investigation, it came to our attention that a few of our players had violated the league's gambling policy," said Detroit Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager Brad Holmes. "These players exhibited decision making that is not consistent with our organizational values and violates league rules. We have made the decision to part ways with Quintez and C.J. immediately. We are disappointed by the decision making demonstrated by Stanley and Jameson and will work with both players to ensure they understand the severity of these violations and have clarity on the league rules moving forward."
They are allowed to participate in all activities, including pre-season games. They will be suspended after final roster cuts are made. Will he be allowed to work out, attend OTAs and TC, then serves the 6 game suspension?
Or will he be locked out until 2 weeks before the suspension ends?
(I think it's both based on Watson last year but not sure)
And like I’ve been saying, WR is a huge need for Detroit![]()
If I was one of these dudes who got suspended, and didn't really have a career, I would find an ambitious lawyer who wants some camera time. The NFL are hypocrites but what else is new.
Still need a big body X, they have a great slot in St. Brown and EVENTUALLY Jamo. And like I’ve been saying, WR is a huge need for Detroit![]()
While that is true, doesn't mean there can't be rules around the players gambling. I'm sure the players were made aware of these rules, they just have to follow them.Yes but it's in the rulesThat is kind of f-d up.If he had bet from his home there would be no violation.

At this point, I am counting Jamo as a bonus. People know the concerns I had before this suspension.Still need a big body X, they have a great slot in St. Brown and EVENTUALLY Jamo. And like I’ve been saying, WR is a huge need for Detroit![]()
Stupid either way.College games of some sort, not sure if football or hoops.
Hello darkness, my old friendThe NFL are hypocrites but what else is new.

"I embrace the darkness" - Brad Holmes, April 20
April 21, darkness came calling.

Holy crap - the culture was just starting to look good in DET.
I mean, it puts him on a very short list of problematic players that the NFL will be hawking with scrutiny for the rest of his career. As a Jameson owner, I don't figure it as a big deal, prospect-wise. If he was your WR2 or 3 it sucks, yes.
Cephus & Moore have already been released.
The good news is that they’re now free to gamble on any sport to their heart’s content.
I hope they at least won their bets.![]()
Every team, every year. Also IIRC, rookies get a special session from the NFLPA.Doesn’t every team, every year, have a 1-2 mandatory presentation during TC clearly outlining the gambling policy? Did teams stop doing that?

And if he was logged into the Lions WiFi it would show up on their records also.Every team, every year. I imagine this was laughably easy for investigators to identify with FanDuel/Soortsbook/whatever (I don’t bet) supplying the logs.

He may have been distracted during that while betting on the Bama game.Every team, every year. Also IIRC, rookies get a special session from the NFLPA.Doesn’t every team, every year, have a 1-2 mandatory presentation during TC clearly outlining the gambling policy? Did teams stop doing that?
True. It's a blemish you don't want. Makes him look stupid amd untrustworthy.I mean, it puts him on a very short list of problematic players that the NFL will be hawking with scrutiny for the rest of his career. As a Jameson owner, I don't figure it as a big deal, prospect-wise. If he was your WR2 or 3 it sucks, yes.
And it is TBD how he’ll handle this mentally, or if it will have any effect on his play.
I’d say it’s a bit up in the air right now.
Router logs will get ya every time. And if he was logged into the Lions WiFi it would show up on their records also.

And also possibly Swift to some extent.Yikes. Bump the Sun God even more, I guess.
Yep. After the Ridley thing, only an idiot would even tempt fate. This dumb dummy.
Makes me feel better about a recent trade offer for Williams that was rejected
JSN shareholders rejoice!
I've got him WR4 right now. Over guys like Diggs and Lamb.Yikes. Bump the Sun God even more, I guess.
My old IT director used to scour those logs to find new sites that he hadn't heard of yet. There were a few really niche ones over the years.Router logs will get ya every time. And if he was logged into the Lions WiFi it would show up on their records also.
Signed,
-Former IT manager who could have blackmailed so many executives for just so, so much porn on company time.![]()
That was a brain fart. Meant to type ARSB (who I roster) - too many acronyms.I doubt highly doubt JSN is going to Detroit. Could maybe increase Bijan chances.
It's now highly likely that he will suffer from a soft tissue injury upon return, so that could be another chunk of the season lost to this stupidity. It's amazingly stupid, but it's 6 games. He could have pulled a hamstring to the same effect. I don't think you re-shape your whole draft strategy over it.
Here’s the thing with that reasoning though - he could still pull a hamstring and miss another 6 games. It's amazingly stupid, but it's 6 games. He could have pulled a hamstring to the same effect. I don't think you re-shape your whole draft strategy over it.
Lions don’t really feel like a team that would do that though.Alternatively, maybe Hopkins, or even Mike Evans could be available for the right price, I just leaned Kupp, because he's better than those guys, and Brad Holmes has his Rams ties.
Yeah, I'm just throwing ideas out there, though I do think Kupp makes a lot of sense for both sides.Lions don’t really feel like a team that would do that though.Alternatively, maybe Hopkins, or even Mike Evans could be available for the right price, I just leaned Kupp, because he's better than those guys, and Brad Holmes has his Rams ties.
just a gut feeling.
Why would the NFL care about that?Maybe he was playing poker,

Sitting out those 6 games doesn’t guarantee a healthy 12, it only guarantees he misses at least 6.
I’ve seen this logic used for drafting hurt players & I’ve seen it bite people in the asa many times.
"Ain't no way the Lions take Jalen Carter, not with the culture that Man Mountain Big Daddy Dan Quinn is building here!"Holy crap - the culture was just starting to look good in DET.
Perhaps Jameson took the under on this wager?OBJ woukd have been the ideal pickup, since odds are he will only last about 6 weeks before blowing up.
I'm not really seeing the argument that the NFL are being hypocrites here.@ChrisBurkeNFL

I get the apparent hypocrisy, but as someone implied or stated earlier, there's really no reason that there is any actual hypocrisy. Different things are appropriate at different times and different places. A fast food restaurant constantly advertises for people to come eat their food. But they reprimand the cook for eating the very food that they're advertising (while he's cooking). Things are just different.@ChrisBurkeNFL
