WR Jauan Jennings, SF (1 Viewer)

Assume Ive been living under a rock. It’s just the contract situation keeping this guy’s ADP so low right? Cause if he signs seems like he’s a steal where he’s currently going.
That in combination with

- Kittle, healthy CMC, 2nd year Pearsall and expectation Aiyuk will return might put a target squeeze on him for the 2nd half of the season.
- He is a 28 year old 7th round pick so those guys don't usually get a lot of hype (and to be fair, it's not an archetype that usually rewards for fantasy)

Why did he sign that contract in 2024 if he thought it was bad? Like I said, the ink isn't even dry yet.
No offense, but this whole boomer shakes fist old man yells at clouds why’d he sign the contract schtick is way past its expiration date.

Teams will drop players like a bad habit & NFL contracts often aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.

It’s time everyone got on board and stopped hating on players - especially the fringe guys who’ve been great team players and are playing for less $. If they have an opportunity to get a pay raise, let em try. It’s not your money, why die on this hill?

But players get a (often large) portion of that money guaranteed. Teams don't get any production guaranteed. They could end up paying all that money for absolutely nothing, whereas the players are guaranteed to get a nice chunk of change.

Like everything, it's a trade-off.

Players: Can't quit the deal, but get a guaranteed payday even if they don't ever produce
Teams: Can't get any guaranteed production, but can get out of the deal

Sometimes it ends up working out fairly and the production matches the deal. Sometimes the team comes out ahead, and gets more production than the deal is worth. Sometimes the player comes out ahead, and ends up getting more money than they earned for their production.

I would say the latter case is probably the most common.

It seems to me a deal should be a deal and I don’t care for when players go through hysterics to complain about a deal for which they already agreed. Work on an extension with your team if you’ve got the really goods longer term or go test free agency.

Left practice today with a calf injury which aggravated him in the spring.

Injury seems legit but if I were in his shoes I'd sure be playing it extra extra safe on my return without an adjustment to my contract.
