WR Jauan Jennings, SF (2 Viewers)

I have Jennings and Bourne and have to start one or the other, and if Jennings plays I don't know what to do. Ideally play Jennings but don't want to start him if he's not fully recovered.

God you would hope San Fran wouldn't rush him back if he wasn't 100%, especially after doing so just the other week with him, but who knows.

If Jennings plays I lean him.

same issue - im going Bourne as he seems to have a connection with Mac and Jennings has been gimpy all year. Could be wrong but need to have Jennings show it on the field to crack the lineup

Agree.

I'm skeptical lightning strikes two games in a row with Bourne.

I think it all depends on who is playing QB, imo. With Mac Jones in there, I would not be surprised to see Bourne lead this receiver group again.

2 of Tampa’s top 3 corners are out. Dean is supposed to be back but he was hurt last week and could easily leave early if he plays.

Whoever is up for SF is probably a nice fantasy play.

If Jennings plays, I guess I could start both Jennings and Bourne and bench Harold Fannin JR (Cleveland TE) who I have in a flex (wr/te) spot.

I'm starting both Jennings and Bourne. Lost Nabers and Rashee Rice is still suspended. Garrett Wilson 1 point is killing me. Other starting WR is Waddle. Starting 4 WRs this week. Start 3 league with 2 flex, I start a 3rd RB in the other flex, at least my RBs and QBs (start 2) are good.

I saw him today but he disappeared the last few series right before the half.
He got into it with Shanahan before the half...not sure what the issue was..

This is the peril of incentive based contracts

Jennings probably shouldn't be playing and potentially is shot up to do so, so when you dont get to see the field, its going to be extra contentious

WR Jauan Jennings says he has five broken ribs, a high ankle and low ankle sprain that he’s been playing through

I feel like this is BS, otherwise if its not, I don't think he's tough, I think he's stupid for playing.

Can't imagine he's better in that condition than whomever would get those snaps otherwise. Yes, even if its MVS.
Guy is an enigma this year.

Sounds like he should be in the hospital and not on the field. And he's arguing with Shanahan on the sideline.

Thought he was going to be a great mid round sleeper, maybe he still will be, but with Bourne emerging, Pearsall getting healthy at some point, and Kittle back possibly this week, not sure I can wait around on him.

what were those bonus incentives he negotiated in the offseason??
2025 Escalators
50% Snaps: $1.5M
60 Receptions: $666,667
600 Receiving Yards: $666,666
6 Touchdowns: $666,667

is that why he's out there when he shouldn't be playing?
That would be my guess - probably arguing with the coach to get enough snaps/touches to hit the incentives.

If this is true about the ribs the niners should lose a draft pick

And these incentive contracts once again, very contrary to player safety
I didn’t take that as what he was saying. I think he was listing examples of injuries guys fairly routinely end up playing through as opposed to saying “I have all of this right now”

He might be playing with bruised/sprained ribs, but there is a 0% chance he's playing with 5 broken, or even fractured ribs. He would barely be able to speak the way he is in that interview taking full breaths, let alone wearing that backpack. Broken ribs are not a matter of "toughing it out", you physical struggle to breath. You would not be able to even wear pads which strap tight across your chest, let alone take physical body contact from a professional athlete. Not to mention broken ribs risk de-alignment injuries where they can pierce your organs and cause internal bleed outs that can kill you in minutes. And claiming 5 of them means the entire integrity of his chest structure is at risk. Even for an athlete with the "best" medical care and a ton of pain killers and injections is missing 6 weeks+ with 5 fractures/breaks. This is the "I walked 5 miles to school in the snow, uphill, both ways" kind of remark. And on Jennings in particular, he has a pretty decent history of missing games for various soft tissue injuries, hip stingers, and a random "shin injury". Not exactly the history of a "tough it out" kind of guy.

I think people are spot on, he's only fighting to play through obvious injuries right now because of incentives. And those obvious injuries don't include 5 broken ribs lol.
