WR Jonathan Mingo, CAR (1 Viewer)

From Week 1-3, Mingo had a 27 percent air yards share in the Panthers offense, with a healthy 12.5 air yards per target. Most recently Mingo saw 23 percent of Carolina’s air yards in their Week 5 thrashing at the hands of the Lions. On the season, his air yards are comparable to CeeDee Lamb and DK Metcalf.

It’s all been for naught, unfortunately: The Rookie has 13 catches on 26 targets for 112 scoreless yards in four games. That’s thanks largely to Mingo sporting the league’s lowest rate of catchable targets (53 percent). Only Tee Higgins has a lower air yards conversion rate.

The kid is definitely raw and a project to which the end result is TBD but he’s a decent redraft end of bench stash and hold for the balance of the year. With the coaches all canned maybe the interim guy makes an emphasis to try to get him going. Mingo’s had a snap rate of 90% plus every week since week 6. The production of course has not been there but maybe something breaks, making him flex worthy. There are worse dart throws.

I really like the back half of a season for rookie and sophomore WRs that can be acquired inexpensively and matured on the bench. Unfortunately in the shorter bench redraft leagues, that might be 1-2 players. Established players like Jonathan Taylor that are injured or suspended are good for that too.
