Gordon just doesn't get it.Reports that Gordon offered Rog a nice spliff, you know, sort of as a symbolic olive branch are as yet unsubstantiated.
Now I think you're just stirring the potgeorg013 said:Hopefully he has been able to weed out his questionable decision making. But if we are being blunt, I have to question whether or not he will be able to roll up on the competition and smoke DBs the way he did in 2013. Just because he talks to the commish and signs reinstatement papers doesn't mean this opportunity won't go up in a cloud of smoke. He has never been known as a high character guy. But like the pot calling the kettle black, let he who is without fault cast the first stone. I hope he rises to the occasion and crushes/burns the haters.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports reports commissioner Roger Goodell would not have met with suspended WR Josh Gordon unless he was "taking the necessary steps to get back into the NFL."
The meeting was just a preliminary step, but one that wouldn't have happened unless Gordon appeared to be on the straight and narrow. The next step will be Gordon formally applying for reinstatement on August 1. Even if Gordon is allowed to play in 2016, he could still be slapped with a shorter ban. It's also not a guarantee the Browns will take him back, but reporter Mary Kay Cabot believes they will.

Cleveland Plain Dealer reports suspended WR Josh Gordon can be reinstated after August 1.
Gordon met with Roger Goodell in New York on Monday. The meeting was initiated by Goodell, potentially a sign that Goodell is at least considering reinstating Gordon before Week 1. Gordon can formally submit for reinstatement on August 1. Gordon's initial reinstatement application was denied on April 12, and "he was told to come back and try again on August 1." Gordon hasn't played in an NFL football game since December of the 2014 season.

Mid 1st round. So, if reinstated, where does he go in redraft? He's an intriguing player to consider. I definitely want to keep an eye on this situation since my draft is a week before the start of the season.
I don't take him until rd 4-5 probably if I even touch him. He was unreal, but that was two years ago, and he hasn't exactly been hanging out at church. For what you'll probably have to pay for him I'll let someone else draft him.
In 2013, Gordon had 117.6 receiving yards per game, which is the 2nd most since 1999 . He averaged 10.35 yards per target, on an offense that threw for 4.59 YPT when throwing elsewhere, which makes it the best season by any WR in Yards Per Target Relative to Teammates. There were some good things about his situation and some bad things (Campbell/Weeden/Hoyer at QB), but his production was way too good to just chalk it up to a good situation.Gordons big season the Browns had Norv Turner, no running game to speak of (Richardson traded to the Colts, Dion Lewis injured in preseason) they had to bring a washed up 32 year old Willis McGahee in and convert their FB to RB.
2013 the Browns had 681 passing attempts 159 of which went to Gordon, not likely to happen in Hue Jackson offense.
The following season with Jay Gruden as the OC he played 5 games 47 targets 24 receptions 303 yards. 6.4 yards per target not impressive at all.
I wouldn't bother with this guy as anything but a last pick of my draft. Chasing a lost 2013 season and circumstances that are unlikely to be repeated is fools gold.
Or what kind of shape he is in.The last two season Hue Jackson threw the ball just over 500 times with a 50/50 run to pass ratio. Similar balance if you go back his Raiders teams as well.
Best case scenario for Gordon would be 8 targets per game which would be 25% of the targets. With his career catch rate of 53% would be 70 receptions over 16 games. That seems like his ceiling.
He could certainly be worth starting and the play action passing game good for him. More valuable in a standard league than PPR. His catch rate is pretty poor but this is offset by usually high yards per reception.
I'm just not confident in him being reinstated or of him staying out of trouble long if he is.
Agree. It's a headache. You ignoring Gary Barnidge?Trying to project what will happen with the Browns gives me a headache. I haven't thought about the possibility of Gordon also being in the mix. If he is I have no idea how many games it will be.
About the only two Browns players I have thought about projections for are Coleman and Duke Johnson.
If Gordon is reinstated I would expect him to be the top WR and in AJ Greens role, which could reduce Colemans targets if he was then the WR 2. So that is kind of annoying.
I was thinking Coleman gets about 130 targets as the WR 1 but if Gordon is involved I suppose that might only be 100.
No. But I think what he did last season was a fluke.Agree. It's a headache. You ignoring Gary Barnidge?
All the medical people I heard said the hernia is no big deal. Watch his highlights, didn't look like a fluke to me. He looked really good and we know Hue loves his TEs.No. But I think what he did last season was a fluke.
I read earlier that he was having a hernia surgery. I was not planning to draft him.
No chance I'm taking a guy suspended for the 1st 4 games of 2016, that also hasn't played in a game since 2014 in the 5th/6th.Now squarely in rd 5/6 of redrafts.
Got him in rd 12....
Time to parttttttttty!!!!

WRs currently going in the 5th/6th according to FFC:
Donte Moncrief
Michael Floyd
Jordan Matthews
Allen Hurns
Larry Fitzgerald
Emmanuel Sanders
Eric Decker
DeVante Parker
John Brown
But what are we going to see from him? He's played 5 games the last 2 seasons. How many guys have missed 27 of a possible 32 games and come back and been fine? Granted, it's not like it was due to injury, but we have no idea what he's going to do or how he fits into the offense now.I would take Gordon over every one of these guys.
Gordon+ 4 week replacement WR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this list.
He actually looks about right on that list without the suspension. The suspension puts him just after it for me.I would take Gordon over every one of these guys.

Good point. I think if you're the Browns and a team offers you something for him, you take just based on the fact that he hasn't proven he can stay out of trouble.Does he play for the Browns this season? Or trade him for a conditional pick or something?
Steelers should trade for him. He can slide into the M. Bryant role, and as a bonus, fit right in with the pot culture there...Good point. I think if you're the Browns and a team offers you something for him, you take just based on the fact that he hasn't proven he can stay out of trouble.
