His yards per game average this year is high enough that if sustained, and he played a full 16 games, that he'd hit 2,000 receiving yards next year.

I read an article (NFL or ESPN I think) that says it is not certain that Gordon is one strike away from a season long ban. I will see if I can dig it up.

Interesting how no one really researched the policy before reporting the season long ban. It was all just off Gordon's words, which were not even definite themselves:

When I saw the headline, I instantly believed that someone had spoken with Gordon and laid out what he faced if he screwed up again. But when I read the actual article, here was the basis of the "confirmation" -- when asked if he faced a season long suspension, Gordon simply replied "I think that's what it is, I believe so".

 
I think that it is even more impressive when you realize that Gordon is tearing it up with the revolving door of underwhelming QB talent throwing the ball to him and the lack of consistent weapons around him to help take the pressure and defensive attention away from him.

This is the most amazing part. Kinda why I wanted to see Tanney in there. Would have been nice to see if even he could get this guy the ball.

I like Cameron and his talent, but Cameron did disappear for a stretch this year and what I was more driving at is the lack of other significant WR & RB talent that would cause defensive coordinators to need to account for when they were game planning against the Browns offense.

Wasn't his NFL suspension for Codeine that he said was for when he was sick than many assume was actually "Purple Drank".

So for all we know, he hasn't smoked pot since being in the NFL. After this breakout year, hopefully he knows that he can make millions if he can avoid the green stuff.

He had a strep throat, took the standard medicine prescribed for it, and didn't have the foresight to notify the NFL that he was taking a prescription medication that would cause him to fail a drug test. He really should have known better, seeing as how he came into the league with concerns about his past substance use...but I really doubt that Gordon was sippin' on sizzurp.

 
And to think that I was harbouring some fanciful hope earlier in the season that the Lions would make a play for Gordon, when those silly rumours were doing the rounds.

The thought of Stafford throwing to Megatron and Flash is boner worthy.

That's my point. People keep saying 1 failed drug until a year long suspension (which seems to be incorrect anyways) and he hasn't failed any drug tests since coming to the NFL other than a prescribed one.

I know people never want to believe these "thugs" have grown up, and you can all say "I told you so" if it happens, that's fine. Maybe somebody told him what he's throwing away and he actually listened. People refuse to believe people change and grow up.

For Weeks 11 through 14 in my PPR league (where I own him) Gordon has outscored the next highest scoring WR (Jeffery) by 53 points!

 
Gordon positioned to break the NFL record for receiving yards per game...

"Gordon, who was suspended for the first two games of the season, is currently leading the league with 1,400 receiving yards. That average of 127.3 yards a game puts him in second place on the all-time yards per game list, dangerously close to breaking Chandler’s record.

For Gordon to break the record, he would need to gain 407 receiving yards over the last three games of the season, and finish this season with 1,807 yards. That's what almost everyone was saying last week when he was matched up with Talib. You know what happened. Just enjoy the ride. I am. If it comes to an end, so be it. I've had the best four week stretch in the history of my league, due in large part to Flash Gordon.

 
Anyone happen to hear Pat Kirwan's interview with Josh today at about 5:40 EST on Sirius/XM's "Moving the Chains" show? I was blown away. I'll be honest, with all of his off-field troubles, I expected him to sound like a dummy. On the contrary. He sounded very intelligent and mature, giving thoughtful answers. He talked ball with Pat and gave detailed, strategic replies. Totally not the kid I expected to hear.

Pat was taken aback as well. He commented twice on how evident his maturity was since he interviewed him at Cleveland's 2012 training camp.

Great to see that he's evidently starting to get it. :thumbup:

I agree. I posted an interview a page or few back and I was very impressed with how well-spoken he was.

If anybody gets that radio interview up, definitely post it.

“You take a kid, I believe had some blemishes on his record, some character issues coming in, seeing him really get it early — that’s what I’m most impressed about,” said Marshall, a four-time Pro Bowler. … “What I can see is him maturing right before our eyes, and that’s impressive.

“Sometimes we get caught up so much into the limelight and the money and the jewelry and all the women and things like that and we lose focus. Sometimes it’s from an ignorance standpoint where we just don’t know. The advice I would give any kid, a young kid going into the offseason, is really surround yourself with good people and understand that one wrong move, one wrong turn, can lead to disaster.”
