WR Josh Palmer, BUF (1 Viewer)

Opportunities. Lots of balls that once went to Allen and Williams, Josh Palmer could be a big beneficiary with a big time QB tossing the ball.

Buy low now !!

Vanilla rules.

There is a reason it's always on the menu and isn't a seasonal flavor offering .

Josh Palmer is not vanilla, he's pumpkin spice. No one likes pumpkin spice.

My son loved Baby Spice. He's 36 now, but I still get to tell him every now and again, just to piss him off.

Expecting 1000-1200 yards this season.. He is going to be the steal of many FF drafts.
He’s one of the guys nobody believes in. For good reason. Similar to Diontae Johnson. You have to expect the volume is there and both were dirt cheap to draft… or acquire after the draft in 10 team leagues it seems.

hes on my list. I'm pretty sure he has himself a nice season. I look for him about one round earlier than his ADP and still feel I'm getting a good deal at that point in the draft.

What are your reactions after the first game for Palmer? Looked like it was Palmer and QJ as the first reads through the first 3 quarters, then in the 4th it was a lot of McConkey.

If Herbert's first read is only getting four targets, I would be concerned.

I own Palmer, and need him (or someone else) as a Flex or a WR2 as I lost Puka... and unless he does something this week, I don't have much confidence in him yet.

@Faust

not to be nitpicky but pretty sure my man goes by Joshua these days

elite sideline catch last week

bit of a disappointing Week 7, we thought JP would see a major uptick; instead we got a ho-hum 5 targets 4-63

instead TE Will Dissly was the featured receiver - career high 11 targets, 7-81; his previous high was 8 targets

does that seem repeatable? maybe he's having an age 28 breakout, but we have to go back to 2019 to find that kind of production from Dissly

but let's not miss that FF disappointment doesn't mean Palmer didn't have a great day last week

78.3 PFF receiving grade led all Chargers
80.7 PFF offensive grade was 2nd to Herbert

per usual the LAC went with a lot of 12 and 13 personnel - 22 snaps

they ran 11 personnel 43 times (65%)

*M*A*S*H unit aka the Chargers WR room for Week 8:
  • starting WR Quentin Johnston (ankle) DNP-DNP-LP (doubtful)
  • starting slot WR Ladd McConkey (hip0 DNP-DNP-LP (questionable)
  • backup WR Derius Davis (hamstring) DNP-DNP-DNP (doubtful)
  • backup WR DJ Chark (groin) LP-LP-LP (questionable)
Chargers elevated two players from the practice squad for today's game at home versus the Saints:
  • wide receiver Jaylen Johnson
  • wide receiver Jalen Reagor

IMO Palmer is a JAG in a low-ish passing volume offense who won't be on the Chargers in 2025. As such, IMO he will not be a strong fantasy play in 2024.

I say this as a Chargers fan who has watched every snap of Palmer's career.

YMMV.

:goodposting:

Hard to believe the Bills gave him 3 years, $36M. I'm really glad the Chargers didn't do that.
Seems like the perfect guy to replace Gabe Davis.

He's no better than Gabe Davis and probably worse.

I'd take Palmer over Gabe Davis, but yeah, either way its a #3 WR, and not a particularly exciting one. I wonder if this means Buffalo lets Curtis Samuel go.

Samuel is a $9m cap hit now and would go to a $12M cap hit if they release him. Unlikely to let him go this year.

Crazy the Bills keeping giving these types of contracts to these types of guys. I’d rather give a few dollars to keep Hollins around again and then see what Kupp wants if he’s cut.

It’s not like Palmer had a bad QB situation or had a bunch of healthy stud WRs ahead of him all this time.

Agreed. Personally, I think Samuel was underused last season, and is better than Palmer, but that's over 20 million this year, going to WRs who could easily be replaced by a random 3rd round rookie. They REALLY need one of Kincaid or Coleman to take a huge step forward in my opinion.
