WR Keeper Dilemma (1 Viewer)

Should be a pretty easy answer but...... 12 team .5 ppr league. 1 QB 2 RB 3WR 1 TE lineup..
Keep up to 3 players, 2 is norm, 3 will cost you 1st round pick, 1 will give you extra 1st round pick...
Options are:
Puka Nacua
Garrett Wilson
Davante Adams
Trey Mcbride
Joe Mixon
Nick Chubb
Rachaad White

Nacua and Wilson are who Im leaning towards.. any reason to keep anyone else/different?
Thanks in advance!

Look at each team.
Try to Identify their top 4 players.
There should be a list of 48 players + rookies right?
See who you believe is their keeper 1-3 keeper.
Look at your draft spot
Play out scenarios

Scenario 1.
1. You keep 2 players Puka, Wilson... Who do you get to draft... from example #5 spot? Should be Top 29-30 player if every team keeps about 2 players. Is that player an upgrade to Puka or Wilson? This year/Next year etc. Can you still get that player if you keep 3 players? Is that player better than Mixon?

Scenario 2
2. Keep 1 player... get extra pick. Do you pick twice in a row? Is there a player you get to draft that is better than Puka, Wilson? Like does the extra pick move you up in the draft slightly somehow. Let's say PUka kept you drop wilson. Draft a top rookie or other player. Then in the 1st round with second 1st round pick.. you pick up Wilson. I don't know if that scenario exists or creates unnecessary risk of losing wilson vs keeping 2 players. But worth asking. Are the 2 players you draft in the 1st better than Wilson, Puka, _ ??? player ... in scenario 1? Are the better than mixon or McBride?

3. By keeping McBride or Mixon as a 3rd player... is there any replacement out there that you'll be able to draft? OR are they a different maker? So it's worth giving up players.

Going through this process should give you added confidence in what you're already thinking. Like. Yeah I don't like that... or oh crap.. it's not worth the gamble... or is totally worth the gamble. Depending on how you rank some players.

Good luck

We don't do the draft order until everyone turns in their keepers. Then we usually dont know the keepers until everyone turns them in. So its a little bit of a guessing game. I do look at the rosters and make an educated guess to who everyone will select. And usually the top 25-30 are gone with a few left to pick from when the draft starts.
The draft is randomized each year with extra picks as well so if you get an extra pick with only one keeper, it doesnt guarantee a top pick.

I think I keep Wilson and grab the other 1st.

Worst case is you get Puka back. Best case is you get somebody better.

Correct?

So if everyone only keeps one player then everyone gets an extra 1st round pick? How does that work? By sheer numbers they aren't really 1st round picks. The only way they are truly 1st round picks is if there are equal number of teams keeping 3 players as there are keeping 1 player. I guess I don't really understand the logistics here.

Anyway as far as who to keep (assuming keeping two players has no cost to it - IE you don't lose a round pick or salary cap space or whatever. You just get two players) then I go with Puka and Wilson. i need further clarification on the extra 1st rounder situation to know if I change that to only one keeper.

So technically the 1st "round" could be 24 picks if everyone just keeps one player. Usually there are 2-3 teams that keep 3 so they dont have a 1st round pick and a couple that keep one player, so the round is 14-15 picks.
After the keepers, there are usually only a handful of actual 1st round value picks available. So if I dont keep Puka, there is no guarantee my 1st round pick is equal or better to Puka. Id have to have a top 3 pick and i wont know my draft position until after keepers are turned in.

I just keep two guys then. Wilson/Puka are easily worth the potential 15th pick after 20-30 keepers are already off the board.
