WR Martavis Bryant, WAS (2 Viewers)

I've thought all seasons they'd deal him away for peanuts like they did with Holmes.  I think he'd be better for fantasy if he left but as a Steeler fan I want to be wrong and this is encouraging news, would much rather have another year of Martavis then some 5th round or worse round pick.

I'm not trying to persuade anyone, so there's no argument.  My question is way to general to start an AC thread.

Looks like DLF has his ADP at 92.17, which according to THIS site is like 1.8, 1.9 territory.  I don't see it, personally.

He'll be out of Pittsburgh after this season. You gave a redraft rationale to a dynasty question.
Next year still matters.  In fact, it's more important than any other year, currently.

I agree he is probably gone but:  https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/nfl-pittsburgh-steelers-news/2018/1/16/16894012/in-a-stunning-change-of-direction-martavis-bryant-wants-to-stay-with-the-steelers-trade-rumors

Funny quote from the article: "After all, which team is going to part with a significant player, or a high draft pick, for a freak wide receiver who is just one bad urine test away from his NFL career going the way of Josh Gordon’s.

Not many would be buying that stock."

That's pretty much how I feel.  The talent is enticing, but the risk is too much unless heavily discounted at this time. I don't see his stock going up in anyway from now till drafts, so even if a buyer is interested for sure, it behooves them to wait, IMO.

Interesting NFL Rumor: Steelers and Dolphins have discussed Martavis Bryant trade..

Some interest in DeVante Parker from Steelers side Just talks nothing close to done.

Jets/Redskins/Colts also have varying degrees of interest in Bryant

"ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Steelers have been "quietly listening to offers" for Martavis Bryant.

Bryant tried to force a trade at the deadline last season, but the Steelers had no interest in moving him. With Bryant entering the final year of his deal, perhaps Pittsburgh would be more willing to trade him now, but he is still a dangerous weapon for a team with real Super Bowl aspirations. They probably need to be blown away to move him during the draft."

So...where are the places that make the most sense?  Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, Indy, Buffalo all come to mind off the bat.  As an MB owner, any of the above other than Buffalo sound just fine.

Add San Fran to that list as well.

Bryant to the Raiders for a 3rd rounder. Al Davis is doing whatever the opposite of rolling around in his grave is after that deal.

Nice haul for the Steelers in my opinion. High 3rd rounder for a contract year #3 WR with 2 strikes.

This makes him a lot more relevant this year. I doubt he puts up anything more 55/700/6. It's better than the 35/500/3 he would've put up with Pitt.

Recently traded him (before this trade) in one dyno for the 2.01 and the 2.10. Was happy to hold him in my either main league. Already gotten a few offers for him tho (less than two 2nds)

Gruden overpaid because he has lots of draft capital thru trade downs and other deals. And b/c he clearly likes and wanted Martavis. He sounds very excited about getting him. He's a huge upgrade over Seth Roberts as the Raiders WR3.

Excited about what this current crop of receivers  -- Cooper, Jordy, Bryant -- add not just to the offense, but to each other. All 3 are credible threats, and are the best group of 3 we've had as wideouts in some time.

I think this signing is a huge gift to Bryant, who will be motivated (I hope) to rebound his career with a fresh start. IT certainly is an old-school Al move ("You can't teach speed") and brings back big-play ability we had in some ways with Crabtree and Patterson. But more than just a deep burner, I think his presence will bring a lot of the dynamicism the Raiders and Gruden are trying to install. Bryant will help open up the field with just the deep threat alone, but will be interested in how much we move to incorporate more multiple trips formations. Add in Switzer and you have a fast, speedy, dynamic set of weapons I think we'll be using a lot -- especially if Beastmode doesn't declne and we have an every-down running threat. Will be hard for Ds to cover, and easier for us to create the mismatches we want.

Bryant, like Nelson and Coop, can play outside or in the slot, and I think the threat of lining our WRs across multiple different slots alone provides flexibility and benefits other receivers as well by opening up the field more than we have been able to in the past.

To the points made above, this may make it hard to really determine who the Raiders #1 WR will be -- across and within games. And while this may dampen the FF impact of any of them alone, it certainly will help raise the game of all three in an NFL (as opposed to fantasy) perspective. There will be plenty of balls to go around, and with the Raiders focusing on bolstering the O-line in our draft more than some expected, it's a clear commitment to giving Carr everything he needs to sling away.

Roberts is a curious guy that does nothing and then makes a clutch catch. Amani caught the drops virus last year and for one single first down, I'd probably figure Roberts is better for that one play. Unless there's some developmental guy they like, Roberts should be handy to keep around.

I've never thought Bryant was a complete WR, in fact, he reminds me of some classic Raiders WRs that can blaze deep but not do much else. I'm super curious of him on that team now.

lotta weed in the bay .... raider fans concerned?
Lotta weed anywhere the guy goes.  He either chooses to toke up or he doesn't.

One interesting dynamic, and a recent new Bryant owner, I get a quick flash of terror every time I see this topic at the top of the page.  How fun.

Austin Gayle @AustinGayle_PFF

New #Raiders WR Martavis Bryant drew some rave reviews in OTAs and hauled in a deep touchdown from Derek Carr today at minicamp, per multiple reports.

Bryant also led 63 WRs with 20+ targets on 3rd/4th down in conversation rate at 61.9 percent in 2017.

That’s #good.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Raiders fear imminent league discipline for Martavis Bryant.

Per the Review-Journal's Michael Gehlken, Bryant's imminent discipline is believed to pertain to the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Bryant, of course, missed all of 2016 due to substance-abuse-policy violations. Gehlken confirms any further substance-abuse infraction could cost Bryant another year, or longer. With ex-broadcaster Jon Gruden replacing Reggie McKenzie at the Raiders' personnel controls, Oakland dealt the No. 79 overall pick for Bryant in late April.

Sad if true. Another example of how powerful addiction can be. On his last straw, millions on the line and unable to stay clean .... sad. Again, assuming true.

The Athletic's Vic Tafur reports that "as of Wednesday" Martavis Bryant had not been notified of a pending suspension.

Tafur also reports that Bryant "did not fail a drug test or miss a test for that matter." The report that the Raiders were fearing a suspension was from extremely reliable beat writer Michael Gehlken. Clearly something is afoot, but no one knows what. Tafur does report he caught wind of a similar report "a couple of months ago" that ended up getting killed. There was apparently a "complication" with one of Bryant's tests that was "cleared up when Bryant visited the NFL offices." It does not appear that and this are related, however. As always with Bryant, sit tight.

With training camps about to start up, I would think we would know by now if a suspension was coming. There have been a few announced already and nothing on the Bryant front.
