WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (3 Viewers)

Talent trumps target (to a certain extent).

I would start Huff.
While Huff may or may not be a better talent, i'll take the guy who will get 2x's the amount of targets if ODB is out every time. It isn't like Huff has shown he's some kind of great player.
you're assuming that Harris gets twice as many targets. That's a big assumption.

Also, Philadelphia's defense is tougher.

Just a difference of opinion. Agree to disagree.

You and Shady could be right, it's not like Harris is some stud lock. It's just that Huff has never gotten over 5 targets in his career so far. Maybe that will change Monday, just not willing to bet on him over a guy who has gotten 6-8 targets last couple games even when ODB was playing.

Harris isn't a no-brainer over Huff, but odds look better for him to get more targets IMO.

agholor was ruled out so huff would start and giants have the #2 run def and #32 pass def
Being the "# 2" receiver on the Eagles doesn't matter that much. They're going to spread it around so it's anyone's guess who will have a big day. It could be the tight end.

I'm projected to win by 20 in my std league so I'm taking the safer option of starting John Brown for Beckham. I think he'll likely play but don't want to risk it. If something changes before 1pm in beckhams favor I may move it back.

ha literally the same situation and lineup decision for me, probably will make the same call you did

Same situation in 2 leagues. I had the big game from Freeman so I am playing it safe with Brown. The other I am waiting it out.

I wish I had as much faith in projections.

I don't buy into projections much but fwiw Yahoo has me basically the same as my opponent.

So my decision is ultimately Moncrief Sunday night or ODB Monday night.

Rotoworld:

Odell Beckham says his hamstring has "gotten better."

Beckham has just 11 catches for 96 yards over his past two games, but his hamstring hasn't appeared to be the reason why. He sat out only four snaps on Sunday, and two in Week 6. Beckham has an appealing Week 8 matchup in the Saints, and remains a top-five wideout.

Remains a top 5 wideout? Potential wise sure. Reality top 20
Has there been any analyses of how defenses have been playing him this year vs. Last year? It seems easy to blame the hammy injury...
That's been the issue. Increased defensive attention that he is having trouble overcoming. And the Giants offensive minds are not smart or good enough to scheme plays that will get Beckham open frequently. Very vanilla offense. Look at Antonio brown. The steelers find ways to get him open and focus on him. Look at Hopkins in Houston. They make him the focal point of the passing game and scheme to get him involved. The Giants would rather pass the ball to the likes of Larry Donnell and Reuben randle than to their star wr.

No Bueno.

Too bad he showed his weakness..which is he doesn't like to be hit...The DB's of the league will be in his head from here on out. In fact the dude has a short fuse and that will come into play as well.
How did he show his weakness?
By admitting it bothers him when the DB plays body instead of the ball. You don't think that they will be leveling shots at him all day long.
Teams aren't going to let him dominate like he did last year. They've had months to prepare and learn how to exploit his weaknesses. Will it stop him completely? No, but it may slow him and frustrate him to the point he becomes manageable.
but he won't learn more about cornerbacks tendencies, defensive coverages or develop a better repore with Manning having a training camp this year? Learning doesn't only impact one side of the equation.
Apparently not.

Before coming to any conclusions based on Week 7 it should probably be noted how weird that game was overall. The Giants barely touched the ball in the 4th quarter thanks to two long Cowboy drives interrupted by a kickoff return for TD. They ran only 49 plays in the entire game and threw just 24 passes, which is really unusual. Even when they were getting their ### kicked in Week 6 they ran 61 plays and threw 38 times.

My conclusions on odb come as a die hard Giants fan and someone who has watched every game this season. And watched him completely disappear from the game plan for long stretches of almost every game. Maddening.

It seems like the Giants are being "smart" and it seems like they see the defense doubling ODB and they throw to the guy singled up whether it be Parker, Harris, Randle which often times ends up in a drop. When they need a play, need a 1st they'll often looks Beckham's way but he's not getting the targets that he did last year...the hammy the last 2 weeks hasn't helped. Over the 1st 5 games he avg'd 10.4 targets/game..the last 2 it's been 7 and they seem to be using him more as a decoy.

meh...Julio has his games like this, Hop just did, everyone does. If he catches the one hander at the pylon it's a whole different narrative today. Last week, if Eli throws to his inside shoulder he has a 75 yard td and he's still immortal. relax.

What's a little different this year is that Randle is hurt/horrible. Nothing to lose by doubling ODB constantly.

Actually Randle is playing much better than last year. A slow study, he isn't great by any means, but has become a respectable second option.

Aren't all stud WRs doubled up or at least have a safety roll over the top against them. Odell won me a lot of money so I'm a fan but how does the coverage he's facing different that what guys like Julio, Antonio and AJ face every week?

I think Odell's been fine...maybe a little underwhelming but last years number where absurd and not going to be seen again.

Yep. My biggest concern about ODB this year was Eli being inconsistent. That is still a problem, imo.

Eli is always inconsistent, the other thing is , Grandpa Coughlin has new toy in the run game, this New Orleans character.

I would lower expectations for ODB for ROS.

I understand your point, bur Orleans is not new. He was on the team last year as well.

ETA: Darkwa played HS football here (Nashville) so I hope he finds more success with the G-Men than he did with the Dolphins.

Nice. I have him in 2 of 3 leagues, but of course I play him in the 3rd. Love the fantasy gods, can't let me enjoy a nice weekend. Love him though, ridiculous ceiling.

The only thing holding him back is his own health and the garbage vanilla play calling of Ben Macadoo. They need to scheme to get him open on every play. Treat him like the steelers treat Antonio brown
