WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (2 Viewers)

I was listening on the radio and there was a throw in the late 3rd or early 4th where Eli over-threw Odell and it went out of bounds, the announcers were saying that if he had thrown it on point that ODB would have had a 70+ yard TD as he had nothing but daylight ahead of him..

Definitely true. There was no one near him. He looked very good yesterday. Runs a nice route and people are saying that he looked faster at the stadium than on TV/video.

To the person who doesn't think he can be a stud due to his size, you should watch this guy move. It isn't difficult to see that he has the ability with his route running to take it downtown just on his speed. He mad e adouble move yesterday that faked a defender out of his jock.

I expect ODB to usurp many of Randle's targets. It seems like any time Randle becomes the focus of the offense, they get bogged down. The trend appears to be that when Cruz has a good game, the Giants offense as a whole has a good game.

Concern with Beckham hasn't changed I don't think..lot of mouths to feed with Donnell, Cruz, Randle and RBs. If Cruz or Randle were to miss time Beckham becomes a high end WR2 though.

To me, the cream rises to the top. The way I view it is that the Giants knew they had these guys in house already and specifically targetted him in the draft with the #12 pick. Look at A. Jeffrey last year...who would target him because they already have Cutlers 1A and 1B target in Marshall. Things change quick and if he can make plays like he did in his 1st ever NFL game they will get him the ball.

35/68 snaps
ok...more than I would've thought and more than was anticipated. The guy helped them win the game though...he's only had a handful of practices with Manning but he drew a key pass interference penalty, was missed on a potential bomb and got the game winning TD in essentiallly his preseason/regualar season debut. He didn't look too slow for the game and would take time to get up to game speed...quite the contrary. If he would've played all preseason I'm sure he would've had the Benjamin, Cooks, Watkins hype...he's right in their class...he was just injured.

Dropped CJ1K in a 14-teamer I have a ton of RBs in for Odell. I'm an anti-homer so picking him up says something. He looked real good yesterday and the CBs were straight sprinting away from the LOS when the ball was hiked.

Was real high on Randle before the draft and I can't imagine some of the 10-targets he's getting a game not going to Odell just based on the fact Randle keeps dropping passes.

One interesting thing was the announcer talked to Eli and quoted him saying he tries to get the ball to Randle early and often to get him going because he's often coasting. You can see his first read in many plays is to him.

Announcer also quoted Coughlin in saying how Odell should be on a snap count but he (Couglin) often loses track of snap counts, jokingly obviously.

I suppose the Steve Smith thread and some realizations have carried over in my thinking and I didn't convey that well. I think he looks great and wrote as such I thought, but I'm saying he won't be Calvin-ish there's a limit in today's game if you don't have the height. I did mention that TD.

you almost have to trade Randle. His value could be gone so quick

I have to disagree. With all the rule changes and how prevalent "small ball" works in the NFL these days, we've come a long way from the days when Wes Welker came into the NFL undrafted. Height is only relevant if you can't get open (see Antonio Brown).

With a decent QB, I have no doubt Kendall Wright could have 100 catches a year for at least a few years and be a top receiver.

You mentioned Antonio, he's been outstanding.

Smith has been great for much of his career but the gist of the conversation is he either is or isn't HOF worthy-when people bring up other WRs in his era(who are all taller) he seems to lose out in the debate. Quickie-Would you rather Moss or Smith? Owens or Smith? But he's sure had a great career, there's a ton of respect for him.

Anyhow this is a theory I'm fishing through because on the surface it's like meh yeah ok, then when you compare them to the taller guys it actually has some weight.

I don't want to move that thread over here or hijack this one. I think Odell has "it" and is going to be a special player

Odell Beckham - WR - Giants

Giants coach Tom Coughlin confirmed Odell Beckham's hamstring emerged from Week 5 unscathed, and his role will grow moving forward.

Along with Rueben Randle and Victor Cruz, "OBJ" will get favorable matchups with the Eagles and Cowboys over the next two weeks. "He seemed to be fine today, there wasn't an issue," Coughlin said Monday. "We will push him along even further now." Beckham played just over 50 percent of the Giants' Week 5 snaps, registering a 4-44-1 receiving line on five targets with a long PI penalty.

He absolutely blew by the defender on this play.

Considering over Kelvin Benjamin. Benjamin @Cincy is about as tough as a matchup gets, and WRs are just feasting on the Eagles. Give Beckham 50 snaps and lets see what happens on SNF.

Debating picking him up and starting him over Quick. Love his upcoming schedule.

Considering over AJ myself. Houston Thursday game isn't too feasible for me and I don't want to see an underperforming AJ prove me wrong on how low he can get

That's a tough choice! Im assuming Re-Draft? If so its almost Apples to Oranges.

I mean Quick is almost the only targeted WR.

While, Beckham may see coverage/limited snaps/injury reoccurrence , combined w/ a player or two who may be hhell bent on keeping their playing time.

However, I agree and Im rolling Odell out w/ real confidence this wk. I do realize that We may need to consider Eli's lack of composure on some matchups (I dunno)

Incidentally for other posters, if ya cant Trust us on Odell, read this Link: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000405178/article/giants-odell-beckham-set-to-make-nfl-debut

The rookie receiver was billed as a great route-runner who should add dynamic plays and take attention off of Victor Cruz.

To get a different perspective on Beckham, NFL Media's Kimberly Jones said on GameDay First that she talked to the wideout's former LSU teammate, Tyrann Mathieu.

Honey Badger described Beckham as quick, fast and a great route-runner with "hands like Larry Fitzgerald."

p.s. I realize its been posted, but Im not sure it was well read.. I believe role and route running limit Rookies. (Odell shouldn't have such limitations)

Starting him over Decker and Patterson. Also have Randle, and starting him as well over both those guys. ODB or Randle will go off against that weak Philly pass D..it's just a toss up on who.

I just grabbed him and Justin Hunter off waivers and will probably star both. My receivers are weak as I've had to rollout Marques Colston as my #2 due to Patterson flop season, and started flexing Kelce but he is on bye too. None of my RB 2's can be trusted as flex.

You think OBJ has the edge on Quick since he has a better QB and easier schedule?
I traded Quick and kept Beckham this week largely because Quick has more value. I view them pretty similarly....Looking at the players I think Beckham has more risk due to the unknown of how they'll use him but he has an awesome schedule while Quick has an awful schedule over the next few weeks.

One very minor thing that may work in Beckham's favor for next few weeks with Rashad Jennings out, Andre Williams is known to not get any receptions, so maybe there are a few extra targets for the others to share.

I'm starting him..makes a great Fanduel play too.

This is the points allowed by Defensive units vs, WR2 of a team. OBJ great talent couple with this data, It seems like OBJ gets an even higher boost against this secondary while Victor Cruz pulls the hard coverage.

Are we considering him a WR2?
I am because I have no other guys on my roster who can be considered a viable #2. I have to figure out who I can afford to deal away.

Currently contemplating starting him over the likes of Benjamin and Patterson. FBGs has them all ranked w/in 3 or 4 spots of each other. All hovering around 12 pp in PPR. I like the matchup with PHI this week.

I had him in a couple leagues come draft time and am now up to 3 shares in 4 leagues. He's getting at least one start for me this week, and maybe two depending on how I feel about Benjamin and Asiata. Great matchup, and looks as good as I hoped he would.

Would you guys start him over Wes walker or Jeremy Hill as a Flex ?

Am thinking about it
In over Welker and Allen Robinson for me. I feel naughty doing so but I am swinging for the fences, yo.
I have a few shares of Robinson, so I hope he blows up, but I don't really see either of those plays as that much of a risk as far as vs Beckham. (My opinion means diddly poo, but whatever). Is this a flex spot or a WR spot?

Beckham certainly seems to have a lot of talent, but will it come to fruition this year? He could the type of player that breaks out in his second season instead. There's suddenly a lot of viable targets for NYG...

OBJ vs. Rueben Randle rest of season is a very big question for me. I probably had a chance to get OBJ on waivers but opted for a RB instead since I had Randle. And now I'm wondering if I should offer Randle for OBJ straight up in a trade.

What do you guys think, OBJ or Randle going forward?
