WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (4 Viewers)

I'll just say it. I think Beckham is about as safe of a long tem investment you can make. At the absolute worst (barring injury like any player) he will be "very good".

He is right there at the top of the WR rankings, which means he is a 1st round dynasty startup pick, and I would not fault anyone for ranking him as their #1 WR or even #1 player.

Yeah if I were to compare him to the other rookie WRs, hes far above them all IMO. Benjamin & Evans both have a little Mike Williams in them (yes I know they are more talented than Williams. What I mean is they seem to be great red zone weapons but I fear what happens once defenses adjust to them over the offseason). Watkins is talented but has the biggest QB question mark.

Odell is great but Cruz will eat into targets once he is healthy, and when they have a healthy RB that can catch passes that will eat into his targets as well.

Fortunately for people who have to play against him, this week is not the best situation. That is not to say he cannot repeat the performance, it is just unlikely. Last two teams he has played have been giving up huge games to 1 wrs the last few weeks too... Was gave up 156, 134, 137, and 209 in the last five weeks. Tenn gave up 100, 130, 238, 155 in the last four weeks. St. Louis D is actually playing defense, so I would not look for a 25 point ppr game this week. I am sure he will be in the 20 range, but I have a feeling that there are a lot of teams who have advanced the last few weeks with weak teams because ODB put up 30 and 40 points.

This is just pure logic, if he scores another 30 plus points this week we might need to start carving out his bust for Canton.

Cruz's injury is one that players don't often have 100% recovery from. He may not be the same player, it could be a down year for him as he gets back healthy. Also he'll turn 29 next November, so Cruz is nearing the down turn of his career while Odell is ascending his.

"while a handful of NFL players have returned from this injury, none have rediscovered their truly elite form."

"In 2011, the American Journal of Sports Medicine released a study of 22 NFL players with patellar tendon ruptures between 1994 and 2004, and it found that it’s possible for players to return. But the study defined a “success” as any player who appeared in a game post-surgery, and it couldn’t quantify whether players retained their dynamic skills."

It wouldn't be a shock if the Giants take a WR in the first round of the draft.

My ankles just broke watching that play. At first I thought it was just busted coverage but the replay shows just how sick his move was. He is so good it's not even fair.

He a top 5 pick next year and not too far a stretch to say the #1 pick . Dude puts up 30 points a week. The way I got burned the last 2 few years by running backs like McCoy etc maybe its a safe play.

I am in awe.

Another owner gave me so much #### for spending a nice chunk of my FAAB back in week 5 ("...for a rookie WR, who wasn't even the best in the draft, who missed all of camp plus first few weeks of regular season.")

And to think I reluctantly took this guy at 1.07 this year in my rookie draft. Sometimes the FF gods smile on you.
Same here, went with him after Cooks and Ebron were picked ahead of me. Looking for so far, too bad he's stuck on my taxi squad though.

I don't think I'd trade him for anyone right now, no point with his talent and age.

Exact same situation except he might win me a few hundred dollars.

There is not a player in a ppr dynasty that I would trade ODB for.

At best, you have the next Jerry Rice. A superstar at the highest level.

At worst, he's a top 5-10 wr.

Time to start carving that bust!

He single handedly won the team tha had him in my longtime Fantasy League the championship this year.

Fantasy Football MVP of 2014. And he missed the first half of the season.

I have to ask, is this kid the #1 PPR dynasty WR now? He is just incredible.
For me he is, I could understand people still ranking Julio, Dez, Green, and DT ahead of him, but that is personal preference. He is a no doubt top 5 receiver going forward and a top 5 or 6 pick in any start up

I'd take dez, ajg, julio and brown over him. I know he has had a great half of football, and he is legit. however, they have no other decent WRs on their team right now and his targets have been very high. Cruz back next year will eat into those targets.

I'm sorry man, but even healthy Cruz has looked totally out of sync with Eli. If anything, Cruz will just make it easier for ODB next year. I see zero reason downgrade him because of an overpaid guy coming off a patela tear.

Hahaha.....he was uncoverable out there today

I've seen this said now around 10 times. It doesn't make any sense. If anything, Cruz will replace Randle as the #2 and steal his production. Anyone who thinks they're going to throw any less to Beckham hasn't been watching. Think of it this way, what's Eli's passer rating throwing to Beckham? It's got to be over 120. So by all this Cruz logic, the Giants are going to start ignoring a guy who can't be covered to throw to Cruz who will be lucky to be as effective next year as the current version of Ruben Randle.

Cruz is the #2 at best next year. Randle would be the one who suffers. And Randle has been getting tons of targets during this breakout by Beckham. There have been plenty of targets to go around. Cruz's name shouldn't even be brought up anymore.

How do you win the championship of your 18 year redraft league when you start a QB that only scores 9 points?

Odell Beckham, that's how.

thanks ODB! No coal in your stocking this year.

He's the #1 WR on my draft board for next season. And it's not a PPR league. The guy is an amazing talent, and he's still learning. He was the only weapon on the Giants this season. Everyone, every week, knew he was the guy that absolutely had to be stopped. And still nobody could do it. I think this WR class is going to go down as one of the best ever, and Beckham is at the top.

:goodposting: Got him at 1.11 :pickle:

he is the best thing to ever happen to Eli.
This is true. Eli has looked…awesome with ODB. Can you imagine if they get him another guy at WR in the draft? Holy shnikey.
I don't think they'll get another WR next year. Randle, Parker, Cruz and hopefully Washington should be good enough to fill out the WR2/WR3 spots. Running game is sufficient if Jennings can stay healthy. Draft some lineman for both sides of the ball and a linebacker and they are a playoff team.

He a top 5 pick next year and not too far a stretch to say the #1 pick . Dude puts up 30 points a week. The way I got burned the last 2 few years by running backs like McCoy etc maybe its a safe play.
You guys are nuts. We see this every year. An unknown or young guy comes out of nowhere and impresses big. But this league adapts quickly. He may be a legit top 20 wr in the league going forward but you guys are piling up the hype way too far.

6 months ago, we would say the same about Gordon. A couple of years ago it was Cruz and nicks.

It's been a great run and he's good, maybe great, but you are setting yourself up for nothing but a letdown if you keep up with all this talk at this level

WTF are you talking about? Do you watch him play or just look at his stats? He's uncoverable on short, intermediate, and deep routes. He has sprinter speed, leaps out of the building, and he catches everything thrown in his vicinity. The reason everyone is convinced he's an elite NFL player going forward is because he's the rare combo of great route runner with the catch radius of a WR a half foot taller. Add in his speed and hands and what you have is a more athletic Antonio Brown.

Thanks for handling the WTF work here.

fantasy MVP for me and certainly many others.

I will own him at all cost next year and I believe this is just the beginning. It's not like Gordon last year where he had an optimal situation. The dude is virtually unguardable. Dismiss what you've seen at your own risk.

Can certainly have your opinion but couldn't disagree more. This kids going to be a star. He already is.

I agree. If he was just making circus catches that would be one thing. If he was only catching short slot passes and just out running defenses it would be one thing. If he was just a deep threat it would be one thing. If he was just a great route runner it would just be one thing. He's elite at every aspect of being a WR. Do we expect him to go over 100 yards and multiple TD's every game for the rest of his career? Obviously not. Will he lead the league in receiving multiple years in his career? Very likely.

This isn't Peyton or Brees finding a new toy. This is Eli Manning and a struggling Giants offense that he is producing with. He is wide open all the time no matter the route they have him running. And if he's covered well for a jump ball...he wins it too. I just don't see any way that he's not a top 5 WR barring injury pretty much every year going forward.

I don't think it's far fetched to say that he is the most well rounded WR in the NFL right now.
