WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (5 Viewers)

Odell Beckham Jr. told The Athletic’s Dan Pompei that he’s viewing 2023 as his final season.

Beckham didn’t fully rule out playing in 2024, saying, “I’m going to give it my all this year. And then, if something happens after that, we can go from there.” Beckham, 30, has dealt with his fair share of injuries since entering the league in 2014. He was arguably the best receiver in the game early in his career, but two ACL tears and a lost 2022 season left many wondering what he’d be able to offer in 2023. Now with the Ravens, OBJ hopes to turn in a productive season alongside Lamar Jackson and new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who he worked with previously in Cleveland. He won’t turn 31 until November and should have plenty left in the tank should he opt to continue playing beyond this season. At this point, OBJ’s biggest hindrance is his injury history.

Can he run anymore? That's really the big issue -- whether he's slowed down or not. I'd hate to see him be a shell of himself in the Ravens offense.

Weirdly, my gut tells me he'll give you a few useful fantasy games if you have the nerve or need to start him in some capacity.

Anyway, this guy could have been one of the all-time greats but didn't seem to use his headspace to his own benefit. Though having Baker as your QB can do that to you. Really, Gettleman nuked this guy's career by sending him to Cleveland after signing him to that huge contract and denying he wanted out from under it. What a terrible GM.

Odell Beckham (knee) has “no real limitations” in practice.
“I don’t know percentages; I just feel good,” Beckham said of his health. “I feel like I’m going to continue to work to get back to who I know I truly am.” Beckham’s next appearance will be his first since getting injured in Super Bowl LVI in Feb. 2022. It’s been slow going, but both Beckham and the team say he has bulked up since even last month’s minicamp. There is a chance Beckham returns to WR3 relevancy in an offense set to be far pass heavier in 2023, though the target competition is as stiff as it has been in years in Baltimore.

So what? So he can fight off press coverage because now he's too slow to beat it?

What on earth does bulking up have to do with anybody this side of Anquan Boldin.

Odell Beckham (ankle) was removed from the Week 1 injury report and will play against the Texans.
Beckham seemingly tweaked his ankle in practice Thursday but was back in action for a full session to close the week. Though it’s unclear how the targets will shake out in Baltimore, Beckham is a solid bet for FLEX-worthy numbers against the lowly Houston defense. His stock could also rise before kickoff if Mark Andrews, who is listed as questionable, is ruled out.

^^^All a ruse to catch Demeco Ryans sleeping on OBJ. I'm expecting fireworks tomorrow right out of the gate between Lamar and Odell. Hundo and a tuddy minimum. :moneybag::popcorn:

Odell Beckham Jr. caught 2-of-3 targets for 37 yards in the Ravens’ Week 1 win over the Texans.

It was the plays Beckham didn’t make that proved valuable to the Ravens, as he forced two pass interferences that totaled 43 penalty yards for the Ravens. OBJ eventually connected with Lamar Jackson on a beautifully thrown deep ball that resulted in a 29-yard gain, beating his defender to the ball for the big gain. Beckham will have his chances to shine, but the story of the day was Zay Flowers, who surprised with a 10-target outing in his debut. Beckham will still have some deep flex appeal in Week 2 against the Bengals.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is “managing the issue and if all goes well, it shouldn’t affect his availability going forward.”

Head coach John Harbaugh said after the game that OBJ’s ankle injury didn’t appear to be serious. This latest report from Rapoport, while encouraging, doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on heading into the Ravens’ Week 3 matchup against the Colts. We’ll see how OBJ is feeling when the team takes the practice field on Wednesday to prepare for the week ahead. The veteran receiver attempted to play on the injury before being sidelined in Week 2, so a week of light work may be all he needs to get right in time for Week 3.

Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.

Beckham suffered an ankle sprain in the Ravens’ Week 2 win over the Bengals, and has now missed back-to-back practices to start the week. Head coach John Harbaugh downplayed the severity of Beckham’s injury on Monday, but his absences suggest there’s at least a chance he could miss Week 3 against the Colts. If Beckham is unable to go, Rashod Bateman and perhaps Nelson Agholor could be in line for busy days. Agholor surprised everyone last week with a 5-63-1 line in the Ravens’ win.

Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Colts.

Beckham missed all three practices this week despite head coach John Harbaugh downplaying the severity of his injury. OBJ did try to play on his injured ankle in Week 2 against the Bengals, so it’s possible he’ll only miss one or two games, but we know he’s at least out for Week 3 against the Colts. Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor could both benefit from OBJ’s absence, but it was Bateman who led all receivers in second-half snaps (21) after OBJ was ruled out.

Odell Beckham (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.

An ankle injury once downplayed by head coach John Harbaugh how now led to five missed practices and one missed game. Beckham has one day left to log a practice before Week 4’s matchup against the Browns, but will be seriously questionable if he’s not able to get on the field — assuming he isn’t ruled out before the weekend. If he’s active against the Browns, OBJ would be hard to trust as anything more than a fringe WR3/WR4 .

Odell Beckham (ankle) will not play in Week 4 against the Browns.

John Harbaugh initially downplayed the severity of the issue to reporters, saying it shouldn’t affect his ability going forward. That was last week. he has yet to practice and did not play in Week 3. Nelson Agholor will start in his place versus the Browns. Beckham’s timetable to return is unclear at the moment.

Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) said he expects to play in Week 5 against the Steelers.

Beckham will probably still be listed as questionable heading into Sunday, but the optimism coupled with two limited practices to stop the week is encouraging. According to OBJ, the two games he missed was “more preventative” and an attempt to be cautious with his injury. Beckham will be a fringe WR3/WR4 against the Steelers, whose defense was torched by the Texans last week.

Odell Beckham Jr. said his ankle feels much better heading into Week 6 against the Titans.
Beckham missed two games with his ankle injury but returned in Week 5 against the Steelers. Despite a brief scare where he exited the field after a tackle, the veteran receiver returned to finish out the game and was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. Beckham appears ready to go for Sunday’s contest, but he’ll be hard to trust as anything more than a WR4 given his limited usage on the season.

Beckham: I'm not dead!
Fantasy Expert: 'Ere! 'E says 'e's not dead!
Fantasy GM: Yes he is.
Beckham: I'm not!
Fantasy Expert: 'E isn't?
Fantasy GM: Well... he will be soon-- he's very injury prone now.
Beckham: I'm getting better!
Fantasy GM: No you're not, you'll be back on the injury report in a moment.

Odell Beckham (ankle) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday’s practice.

Beckham being upgraded to a full participant falls directly in line with what he said earlier about his ankle feeling better than it did in Week 5. The Ravens hope production will follow OBJ’s restored health, as Beckham has just seven receptions for 79 scoreless through three games. Operating as the third option in the Ravens’ passing game, OBJ is hard to trust as anything more than a WR4 in Week 6 against the Titans.

wow what an overpay by Balt. At least its only 1 yr
Who could have predicted this as an outcome? The list of WR that struggled to stay on the field for 3 years with multiple injuries, averaged 30-something yards a game when they played, and returned at age 31 to fantasy (or NFL) prominence is quite lengthy. There are just so many.

Real easy to join the chorus bagging on him but I actually think he's a solid free/buy low especially in deeper leagues and/or if you need WR depth.

Obviously I acknowledge health has been his biggest issue but these things change and not sure how anyone did not expect him to start slow. I think he's got a really good chance to turn things around and be a solid WR3/4 type.

Odell Beckham Jr. played on 29-of-71 offensive snaps in the Ravens’ Week 6 win over the Titans.

Beckham’s 41 percent snap share was his lowest of the season — including games he exited due to injury. The veteran receiver was presumably playing at full strength after being removed from the team’s injury report, but was behind Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor, and Rashod Bateman in regards to snaps and routes run (16). He still managed four targets on the afternoon, but for a $15 million receiver, we’d expect a lot more from OBJ than what we’ve seen so far. He’ll be hard to trust in Week 7 against the Lions outside the deepest of fantasy leagues.
