WR production the 1st game after they complain (1 Viewer)

The last few years we may remember certain WRs complaining in the media about not getting the ball, e.g. TO and even the likes of Roy Williams. I remember having certain WRs on my roster over the years who were underproducing and then complained about not getting the ball. Most of the time, I left those WRs on my bench for the 1st game after they complained only to watch those WRs blow up that week. Am I imagining that most times when a good WR complains about not getting the ball, the team makes more of an effort to get him the ball at least for the first game after the WR complains? I could be dead wrong on this one. In any event, my own bad decisions have made me pay more close attention when WRs complain about not getting the ball.

This week, Holmes has openly complained about not getting the ball. Does anyone remember other situations where WRs have openly complained about not getting the ball and what happened the first game after that?

If I remember, in between weeks 2 and 3, V. Davis spoke out about wanting to be more involved, and went off in week 3 (last week).

This is exactly the kind of situation I'm asking about and whether this happens more often than not. Also, the difference between the TO situation last year, the V. Davis situation above and James Jones is that Jones is not the caliber player that TO and V. Davis are.

I've been thinking about this exact topic a bit this week as it relates to Santonio Holmes.

I have him and a few other guys ranked very close to him in the weekly rankings and its a real tough decision who to start.

I'm thinking a bit along the same lines as the OP and kind of leaning towards putting him in the lineup over another guy of similar talent with a better matchup on paper due to Holmes' speaking out. But I'm not sure if I should just play the numbers straight here or try to account for Holmes' complaints as a factor in the numbers (i.e. he gets a 2 catch, 25 yard bump in my projections due to being the squeaky wheel).

The problem with figuring this one out is that the question is based on when a receiver publicly complains about not getting the ball. For all we know Santonio Holmes is waiting outside Rex Ryan's office every morning to bug him about getting more targets. (And isn't that "my ball" mindset part of what makes the good ones good?)

So the question seems to be whether or not you can publicly shame an NFL coach into getting you more involved in the offense. Seems to me that game plan, flow of the game, coverage, the everyday ups and downs of receiver performance, and luck would factor in more.
