WR Randall Cobb: Really worth a first round pick? (1 Viewer)

In redraft people would rather own Nelson I assume, but in dynasty who would you rather own? Nelson or Cobb?
This really has nothing to do with your question, but it got me to wondering how many white WR's Chris Wesseling had ranked on his Top 300 Dynasty Players list. By my count, his list contains 119 WR's - 8 of those are white. They include:WelkerCollieJ. NelsonAmendolaRiley CooperEdelmanK. WalterHartlineYes, I am bored! ;)
so what are you trying to say here

This guy is really tempting as a pick-up in my return yardage league. Question is, how often will returners be able to take kicks out, let alone take them to the house? The majority last night were kneel-downs and this kid only got a few looks in the passing game. Worth a roster spot over someone like Deji Karim or CJ Spiller if it's a point per 10 return yards (as well as PPR)?

Hmmm. Now that would make you think that? The guy has great hands, good size and dominates outside when given the targets. But somehow he "looks" like a slot receiver....
To me, he looks like a deceptively fast, blue-collar fan favorite. You know- a tough, gritty possession receiver. Someone in the Eddie McCaffrey/Wayne Chrebet/Joe Jurevicius/Matt Jones/Brandon Stokley type of mold.
I think he's more like the Austin Collie/Ricky Proehl/Brian Finneran type.
Percy Harvin type.
We were talking about Jordy Nelson. Hence all the ridiculous comparisons to white receivers.

One thing I noticed about Nelson is that he's got a really high motor. I think he should play defense.

First, you should know that questions for your team belong in the Asst Coach (just remember where your posting, you may get funny answers) Its not what you say, its how you say it.I really dont want to be a kill-joy, but Cobb is currently penciled in at both Punts & KO's. I believe you know that usually WR's are known for one type, while RB's another. I believe it prudent to know that GB also has Alex who has been mentioned for returning KO's. Another point to consider is the additonal QB rule, Alex could be active just because of the extra man allowed. Ive already read that {}packers: MM: Wrong decision for Cobb to return kick from 8 yards deep, but he was decisive.{}

imo GB is similiar to the NO situation of a few Seasons ago (ball will be spread around) cept Finley, He may not lead, but odds against a zero are pretty good.

I like to think that I may know something about GB, but that doesnt always help me in anyway, shape, or form. On the other hand, I dont know much at all when it comes to Pittsburg. But Pitt from the way I understand it, has a 2nd yr player named Antonio Brown who is also inked for rtns (Im kinda thinkin WR3 least 1st wk) I dont want to get in any kind of comparison as to ability, but the opportunity is worth mention imo. In some respects this could turn out a bit different then I expect. E. Sanders had some success last Season and could not only regain WR3 role (if he hasnt already, foot inj) but be involved in the rtn game again. (could also be similiar to McCluster/Arenas for last Season)

There's also another player having been hyped during camp in Oakland D. Moore (catching everything, big news was a drop)<<Moores responce to the drop "it was actually my 2nd drop" Moore's name is supposedly also mentioned about rtn's. I know it dont make sense to most, but Id rather take a chance on 3rd yr DHB (currently not listed as a stater even) and probably no chance hes out on return team too.

Lets not forget Spiller was drafted 9th overall, if the OLine develops & gells, we might only see 12 touches, but it could be lights out type plays.More or less, I cant or dont want to answer your question, and would much rather share what you may already know, or most anyone who cares to offer an answer will know.

Now the don't part may sound strange, or wrong, but how about this fact: I almost feel like I just hit on a machine, why should I pump money back in for the next jackpot, when I just seen someone walk away from another one. Now theres a good chance I do in fact start him, but it would almost be more for the fact of hearing from someone who knows I have Cobb on my team, the next day, over the fact that hes just so darned talented.

p.s. Chicago has been quite vocal about their views in reguards to KO's. imo Im not really so sure its a shark move to count on rtn yds. moving forward ie. two punt rtns for 19 yds vs. a wildcard player on your BN like say Shipley, or Douglass much less CJ Spiller, or Karim. Id suggest doing some research on what the experts believe, the kicking game (rtns) will look like this Season, and possibly be able to really add some thoughful input for discussion. Im loving the potential of Cobb, but I know dropping Spiller, may only leave you one spot closer to the top of WW.

I know this isnt the Asst Coach forum, but Id almost gurantee that theres a potential WR2 on the wire in your league. ie. Earl Bennitt has already been praised for his ability for 3rd down conversions (when it counts basically) & what if Roy was brought in to help teach system & what if Tice can make the OLine work (one IF is too many normally). I just felt the need to post, because I seen your join date. One of the worst examples of what can happen when a player gets hyped is probably a guy named "". Im just gonna leave it blank. Theres also the reversal of hype. Manning's appears quite justified (this time)

Sometimes the hype is legit, but its not always. (not all felt as strongly, until one game was played) I have no clue when/where you drafted Spiller (@ 6th Rnd value?), but there is always a possibility that a package deal leaves you an upgrade and an open spot. I believe it would also be a good time to evaluate schedule's. Do you want a team that can make the playoffs? (or a team that should be great in the playoffs) :boxing:

good luck w/ your team & make sure to read the pinned links!
