WR Ricky Pearsall, SF (3 Viewers)

Deedo returning? thats kinda of a surprise. How do they pay all these players
Not surprising after they restructured his contract. Minimal cap savings even if they did something after June 1. Other then that I think they view him as a major contributor who can still play.

I wonder if Pearsall can elevate to an elite level. Top 20 or better.
Ignoring the dumpster fire the team was this year; the way Shannahans offense runs when it's going well, just about anyone getting enough snaps/targets can finish as a top 20 fantasy player at their position in spite of not being an elite talent. I think Pearsall does have that talent, but even if I didn't, if SF returns to form next season I'd still say top 20 is very much possible.

The rise of Jennings concerns me
Deebo's coming back unless someone makes them a compelling trade offer. Aiyuk likely returns in the second half. Kittle back doing his thing, CMC back. It's difficult for me to see him being very valuable next year unless they thin the group.

Huge bump

He could be WR1 in SF?

Possibly. Although he’s not an established blue chip player, he seems to be very talented and he could get the volume to be in the Top 10-20.

I like his profile. You likely get a lot of potential without the likelihood of paying a premium.

Feels like fools gold to me...i think the whole 49ers offense underperforms this year
If they can fix the OL I expect a resurgence with Aiyuk and McCaffrey healthy. That’s a big if for both. Aiyuk may be slow out of the gate. Who knows if and how long McCaffrey will be healthy.

OL is a pretty big fix

I wouldn't expect much from Aiyuk

Cmc health is an interesting one but even when 'healthy' last year kind of looked like a shell of his former self

Shell huh 🤔

I've got Pearsall in dynasty, a bit conflicted on how to value him, but I'd say a pretty decent bump here. I think it's potentially meaningful that he closed out the year so well. But not necessarily. He could go right back to averaging 4 targets/game all next year and would anyone be truly surprised? But that and the Deebo trade have me hopeful, at least.

Good chance Aiyuk is not ready or at least not 100% at the start of the season. Now with Deebo gone, path is wide open for Pearsall for a hot start. My guess is he will now be overvalued and see a pretty consistent rise in ADP leading up to the seasons start, especially if Aiyuk suffers any setbacks or is slow on recovery.

I love Ricky but man people are sleeping on Jennings. He could easily be the #1WR in this offense and comes with a much better ADP

It’s hard to say what’s going to happen. Jennings may be the better value play. That said, I don’t think either will command a premium. They are more likely to go at a discount to their potential.

He’s going to be a stud this year ..
I don't want to get into a huge debate vs Jennings but I like a lot of what I saw

-2 games that stand out for me...
First of all he was shot thru the chest/torso and didn't see the field the first couple months, I commend him for even playing in '24
He didn't really get going for a couple games and then finds 4/73/TD on just 6 targets vs the Bucs, had almost 80 yds week prior when you add in his 39 yd run
Then he gets hurt and is gone for several weeks until the very end of the season and his next big game is vs another Playoff bound team- Detroit where he racks 8/140/TD on 10 targets
6/69/TD week 17 on just 8 targets

Final 2 weeks we have 18 targets - 14 rec 210 yds and 2TD
7/105/TD avg to give you a taste of what he can do

-Can he avoid being shot and not being injured and missing 6 weeks during the season, those are the things that concern me but his skills on the field and his ability to learn the offense
Early returns are glowing I would say
Had he played the whole year I think folks would see him a little more like a possible Ladd McConkey
I love the upside here

I love the bull cases for Pearsall. I gathered a number of shares last year and was super excited with what he showed at the end of last year after getting healthy.

For whatever reason I find myself hedging a bit. There seem to be plenty of people who are high on him in my leagues so he can net a pretty nice return. There are a lot of IFs in San Francisco (health of Aiyuk and CMC being the biggest) so I can see him really taking off in year 2, but I could also see him having to share the ball quite a bit.

The #1 WR will probably be CMC. Followed by Kittle. Not sure Aiyuk will be healthy to start, but he may start drawing more targets as the season progresses barring any setbacks. Jennings is no slouch either. I have Pearsall in a couple leagues but I'm curbing my enthusiasm for a bit. If Aiyuk misses most/all of the season, then I can see Pearsall as a solid WR3. If CMC gets hurt again, I think Pearsall will blow up.

From Roto so take with a grain of salt:

"The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall has worked extensively with Brock Purdy this offseason.
Pearsall missed critical practice time last summer after struggling with shoulder and hamstring issues and being shot in the torso in late August. The second-year wideout has tried to make up for lost time by working with Purdy in Florida and Arizona this spring. “There’s been so many moments throughout the year where [Pearsall] has run a route and I’ve thrown a ball and it’s just slightly off,” Purdy said in January. “And we know that, hey, once we get a real offseason together and we can talk about the basics, the fundamentals, the timing of concepts and everything and just get a bunch of reps together — dude, it’ll get way better.” The 49ers could lean on Pearsall and Jauan Jennings early in the season with Brandon Aiyuk (ACL) expected to miss the early part of the regular season and Demarcus Robinson potentially drawing a suspension for a DUI arrest in November. Pearsall’s performance against press coverage, Barrows said, could make him a valuable part of the San Francisco passing attack in 2025."

Also this from Roto:

"The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports that 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall “tweaked his hamstring” and is unlikely to “practice in full until training camp starts in July.”
Pearsall’s 2024 rookie season began similarly. He strained his hamstring during a mid-July practice and spent nearly two weeks on the reserve/non-football injury list. Perhaps Pearsall needs to work on his ramp-up methods. Much will be asked of the No. 3 wide receiver, entering his second NFL season with Deebo Samuel now a Commander and Brandon Aiyuk recovering from a torn ACL. We will follow Pearsall’s health closely in the run up to training camp. He has a chance to return flex value this season."

I'm starting to get Treylon Burks vibes from this guy.

I honestly dont recall if he was injury prone in college and after he returned last year - if not his injury history is being shot and a tweak in the offseason which should have plenty of time to be 100% - i personally hope this gives a discount for him

Shanahan scheduled to speak to the media on Tuesday.

The 49ers have placed the following players on the Active/PUP list:

WR Brandon Aiyuk
WR Ricky Pearsall
S Malik Mustapha
DL Yetur Gross-Matos
OL Andre Dillard
LB Curtis Robinson

I didn’t even realize Pearsall was hurt?
Neither did all of us.
Hammys are tricky, too.

Jennings is such a value.

Thought he had the same hamstring problem last May, as well.

I don’t know anything, but he does run a bit different - wouldn’t be crazy to think he’s got some Christian Watson to him in the hammy dept.

Maybe this is the year Kittle finally gets targeted like the HOF talent he is?
It certainly seems like the stars are aligning for him and CMC to carry the load out of the gate. I think both will start out hot and very productive. Only question is how long can they keep it going and stay healthy.
