Injured WR T. Glenn Doesn't Make Trip, Out

Todd Archer, Dallas Morning News - [Full Article]

WR Terry Glenn did not accompany the team to Phoenix on Saturday, and will not play today against Arizona. WR Patrick Crayton or rookie WR Sam Hurd will replace Glenn in the starting lineup. Rookie WR/KR Miles Austin should also be active.

There is nothing in that thread that he re-aggravates knee in todays practice(FRIDAY!)Only that he was hurting all knew that. ;)
OK, but we knew that he wasn't playing, which is why some were asking about Hurd and the other WRs.

I had a hunch too..thats why I picked up Crayton yesterday on the WW..in most of my leagues! :D

Then you should have added that tidbit in that existing current Glenn thread instead of starting another one.

If it's top updated news..it needs it's own thread..instead of reading the other one!

Another update..small but new.

Cowboys | Glenn will be game-time decision this week

Fri, 10 Nov 2006 15:50:01 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Terry Glenn (quadriceps) tried to practice Friday, Nov. 10, however, he was forced to leave after one individual drill. He received some rehab work on his quadricep/knee and will be a game-time decision this week.

Very different from past reports..But odds are he will not be good even if he plays..just to say.

Glenn aggravates knee, appears unlikely for Sunday

IRVING, Texas (AP) Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn left practice early Friday after apparently aggravating his injured right knee, making him unlikely to play Sunday at Arizona.

Coach Bill Parcells had said Glenn probably wouldn't play if he didn't practice Friday, and undrafted rookie Sam Hurd was lining up with the starters during a walkthrough even before Glenn was hurt.

Glenn, who had missed two days of practice because of irritation under his kneecap, appeared to re-injure himself reaching for a pass early in practice. He hobbled off the field and slammed his helmet to the floor of the Cowboys' practice building.

Glenn, in his 11th NFL season, has caught 36 passes for 456 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Before practice, Parcells was not saying who would replace Glenn if he couldn't play.

``I'm not dealing in hypotheticals,'' he said. ``(Patrick) Crayton and Hurd can play that position.''

Hurd, out of Northern Illinois, won a roster spot with Cowboys during the preseason by catching 15 passes for 200 yards and a score. He has one catch for 33 yards this season.

Crayton, Dallas' third wide receiver, has 17 catches for 259 yards and two TDs.

I've got one roster spot open in 1 league ( dropping Toomer ), Crayton & hurd are available in the league. Which one should I grab ?
I assume Crayton will remain the #3 and Hurd won't see hardly any action except for filling in for Glenn if he misses time. So Hurd might be a good choice for only one week. There may be some regular starting WRs on the wire.

Downgrade Romo? Or is TO alone enough to bolster his numbers against the Cards?
I would downgrade Romo slightly because Sam Hurd is no Terry Glenn. However there is still a lot of good targets in TO, Hurd, Witten and Crayton (in order that I would expect target numbers).

Update: Glenn is definitely out, as I heard on TV that he didn't make the trip to AZ.
Cowboys | Glenn OUT for Week 10Sat, 11 Nov 2006 18:40:44 -0800Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Terry Glenn (knee) did not travel with the team Saturday, Nov. 11, and is out for the Week 10 game. WR Patrick Crayton or WR Sam Hurd will replace Glenn in the starting lineup.

whos the better play , crayton or hurd?

read parcells wants to keep crayton #3 so he can still stay in the slot... crayton seems the more reliable but hurd has the bigger upside of having a big day....hmm.

leaning to crayton....

I'm guessing Hurd only because he will likely be in for every play, while Crayton remains in the #3 spot that he's accustomed to. As a sidenote, T.O. took Hurd under his wing during the preseason to help him learn. So I'm guessing T.O. likes seeing Hurd get some PT.

apparently, crayton and romo may have formed a nice bond on the scout team and he's the guy who'll benefit most from glenn's absence:

Rotoworld -- Patrick Crayton, Cowboys - Terry Glenn over the last month: 29 targets, 16 catches, 166 yards, 1 TD. Patrick Crayton over the last month: 16 targets, 13 catches, 227 yards, 1 TD. Get Crayton the ball more! That will be tough in a crowded situation in Dallas, but Crayton is worth monitoring at the very least. While Crayton's improvement started before Tony Romo got the starting job, it's possible that the two young players formed a good chemistry while running the second team the last two seasons.
