WR Terry McLaurin, WAS (4 Viewers)

He had a 25-30 ish yard catch called back by an illegal shift or formation. Keenum missed him high on a 20 yarder in garbage time. Keenum missed him high on what should have been a 2 point conversion. He.Gets.Open. Did everyone see his conversion on 4th down? He shook Fuller WITH EASE to convert.
He's also adept at finding open spots in zones, which is something that's hard to teach.  You either have the instincts or you don't.

I thought this running joke would get old quickly....it hasn’t.

the Scary Terry nickname I could do without however
Agree on both. McLovin it is....

Bears D is incredible. McLovin's floor is likely last night's totals. Curious what kind of offers will start to roll in.

1.  The TD catch last night was big time.  I was hopeful he'd turn out to be a WR3, now I think the sky is the limit once the team improves.

2.  I feel like his nickname needs to be something related to Mclarin cars.  Someone on Twitter proposed "F1."  I'm going with that.

I have source that said the Haskins and McLaurin playing together rumor is just fake news.
"Apparently some pathetic journalists have been spreading rumors about our nation's young quarterback and WR1 having 'chemistry'. SAD. Implying that perhaps they went to the same 'school'. FAKE NEWS. Everyone knows they went to the same college."

Because everyone in my big-money league is paranoid and skeptical, he's still on the WW. Undoubtedly, the bids will roll in heavy tonight after his MNF performance. Dammit, I knew I should have grabbed him last week. Can't decide how much $$$ to cough up. I wish I had more confidence that he'd finish the season as more than a solid fantasy WR3.

What more do you need to see?  Hes almost a must start

At this point I'm worried about a switch to Haskins. Keenum seems to like him and I can't imagine the chemistry being better with Haskins, college connection or not.

Keenum is on pace for 4,976 passing yards and 37 passing touchdowns.  It's hard to imagine that Haskins would put up similarly bigly numbers.  I think it's more likely that Haskins is bad than good.  So I too vote for the status quo.

Whoa! Whoa! Easy there hoss - nobody here is saying anything about them going to college together. Geez.

JK yeah I tend to agree. If their season keeps sucking, though, they're going to have to make the switch.

Scary Terry McClauren F1 is a ####### beast.

But who is this Haskins guy?

Seriously tho, MF1 should be his nickname.

Well call me crazy but I just turned down the following trade offer for him (12 team ppr dynasty league).

N’Keal Harry & Demarcus Robinson

for

Terry

I kept Terry.
Good job. Harry is still an unknown at the NFL level and Robinson is a small cog in a great offense with a lot of mouths to feed. Stick with what appears to be a great WR

Exactly my thought.   Too many mouths to feed in both NE and KC.  Once Tyreek Hill comes back I’m not sure Robinson is relevant anymore.

I'm also worried about the possible switch to the rookie QB.

McLaurin is off to an amazing start through 3 games, especially for a 3rd round rookie, with 16/257/3 on 24 targets. The Keenum-McLaurin connection is clearly working.

Part of why McLaurin fell as far as he did in the NFL draft is that he was rarely targeted in college. His last season he had an astounding 14.3 yards per target, but just 49 targets in total over 14 games, leaving him with just 50 yards per game and only 701 out of Ohio State's 5100 passing yards. Good things happened when the ball came his way, it just didn't come that way often. He is already just about half way to his target total from his biggest college season just 3 games into his first NFL season.

And what a lot of people don't realize is that the promising rookie quarterback who they're clamoring for as Keenum's replacement is actually the very same Ohio State quarterback who rarely looked McLaurin's way last year, Dwayne Haskins (source). At tOSU he threw more passes to each of Parris Campbell, KJ Hill, and Johnnie Dixon than he did to Terry McLaurin, and even Austin Mack & Binjimen Victor were in spitting distance (within 1 target per game of him). I'm a little nervous about where he'll throw it with Washington.

As nittanylion pointed out so astutely in another thread, Gruden's guy is actually McCoy when healthy. It might be posited that as long as Gruden remains in control of personnel, McCoy is next man up.

Keenum is in a walking boot today.

I’m not too stoked about this QB change, regardless of who it is, but frankly this kid has become one of my favorite players and I’m holding just to watch the games. Plus, the Skins need him. This is one player I’ve seen put a charge in this franchise for several years. They need to turn to him and rely on him and I think they will. Having said that I might bench him Sunday just to see how the new QB pans out, we’ll see.

The same qb?  No way

Gruden insists Keenum is the starter.

I agree.  If Keenum doesn't play I think I sit mclaurin just to see how it goes

Then there's this:

Gruden said right now that Haskins would start Sunday if Keenum can’t play. Colt McCoy did participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough

His counting stats end up fine by the end of the games because they are playing from behind, but Keenum has been missing open receivers all over and his ball placement (minus a few tight throws that have shown up on McLaurin's highlights) has been pretty awful. I'm not saying I'm sure Haskins will be better for McLaurin right now, but Keenum is a mirage right now. His pocket presence and ball placement is trash, overall. These were two areas where Haskins impressed me when he finally started getting some run in preseason. Of course the fact that he's a rookie with a little over a dozen starts since HS could counteract that.

But my main point is that despite the way the stats look right now, I think Keenum is playing poorly (even setting aside his 4-5 turnovers on MNF), and imo McLaurin is succeeding in spite of his poor play and poorly thrown balls. McLaurin has been ignored while running open constantly and overthrown multiple times.
