On 12/26 I fell off a ladder and Landed on my wrist. X-rays showed non-displaced Scaphiod fracture and basal thumb dislocation. Was in a split till Jan 4, then a fiberglass hard cast over my wrist and forearm until last Fri. Never had an MRI or CT.
Last Friday, the cast came off. X-rays showed good healing in the bone and I was given a velcro type brace.
I'm still having on and off numbness in my index finger and thumb. Also, still have sharp pain when bending my wrist outward/inward, cause a "locking" feeling. However, I can use my fingers decntly and can rotate my forearm almost pain free.
My question is whether the pain, "locking/catching" feeling, and on/off numbness is just part of the healing process; if I should get a 2nd opinion, follow up with my hand ortho doc, or just give it more time.
I've seen improvement since Fri in general mobility of my hand and it's a massive improvement since the original injury. Swelling and constant deep ache/pain are all but gone. It's been expensive already, but I don't want to risk ending up with long term problems.
Any help is much appreciated; thanks in advance.
