Would have had this up earlier, but there were apparently some problems accessing the Forums in here last night.
Week 10 is upon us and I see a lot of Sleepers this weekend. Lets jump right into it!
Atlanta @ Carolina:
You know what the absolute saddest part of this game is going to be? I actually have tickets to this game and am taking some of my peeps with me. I can promise you there will be a lot of alcohol flowing through us aw we watch the Panthers stomp a mud hole into the Falcons!
White/Jenkins: WR Roddy White continues to post respectable numbers. With the Panther’s pass defense struggling, he should be able to produce some solid stats. Last weekend against the Niners, Roddy White caught three passes for 55 yards off of eight targets. QB Joey Harrington lit up the Panthers at the beginning of the year, so believe it or not, this is a good spot for Harrington and the Falcons passing game. Michael Jenkins could also see some passes thrown his way. Jenkins had six catches for 76 yards in the previous meeting with the Cats. Start White and Jenkins this weekend as WR3/Flex options.
Sleeper Alert: Roddy White - 6 catches 70+ yards, TD
Michael Jenkins - 5 catches 70 yards, TD
Smith/King: Just how bad is the Carolina passing game you ask? Smith was targeted 10 times last weekend, but only three of them were caught and he went next to no where after catching the passes. Despite how bad the QB is in Carolina right now, I have a gut feeling Smiff breaks one lose this weekend, but anything more than 70 yards and a TD would shock me. Jeff King has also developed nicely in the Carolina passing game. .
Sleeper Alert: Jeff King - 5 catches 40 yards, TD
Panthers 17 Falcons 14
Minnesota @ G.B:
Viking WRs: Nothing to read here, keep going.
Driver/Jennings/Lee: Feel free to start all three of them. Despite what Phillip Rivers looked like last week, the Vikes pass defense is BAD. Look for Favre and company to expose that in a big way. Greg Jennings is RED HOT right now and is a must start this weekend. Donald Driver finally gave his owners something to cheer about with a respectable 5 catches for 99 yards. It would be nice for DD to find the end zone though. TE Donald Lee had a solid game last weekend replacing the injured Bubba Franks. He makes a great sleeper play this weekend if you need some help at the TE spot.
Sleeper Alert: Donald Lee - 4 catches, 50 yards, TD
Packers 35 Vikes 21
Denver @ KC:
Wow, what a butt kicking? Are the Broncos really this bad? It won't get any easier going into Arrowhead where the Chiefs will be desperate for a win.
Stokley/Marshall: WR Brandon Marshall was target an insane 19 times last weekend and caught nine of them for 96 yards. Back up QB Patrick Ramsey was locked into Marshall when he stepped in for the injured Jay Cutler. On Ramsey's first pass of the game, he was able to hit WR Brandon Stokley for an 18-yard TD. On the game, Stokley caught four passes for 32 yards and a TD. Since the Broncos have apparently forgotten how to run the ball, they may be forced to throw the ball against the Chiefs 19th ranked pass defense. Look for Stokley and Marshall to be very involved.
Bowe/Gonzo: Gonzo recorded yet another 100+ yard game last weekend, his third one in four weeks. Last weekend, he caught 10 passes for 109 yards and a TD. The Broncos aren't exactly easy to pass on, but you can't bench Gonzo when he is playing out of his mind like he's been the last month. Meanwhile, WR Dwayne Bowe took a vicious hit in the Green Bay game and was not heard from the rest of the day. You may want to check his injury status for this weekend, but it looks like is going to be OK. However, with Champ Bailey in his pocket most of the day, I'd look elsewhere.
Denver 21 KC 20
Buffalo @ Miami:
It's hard to get excited about this match up. If the Dolphins are going to win a game, it may be this weekend. But if Marshawn gets loose like he did last weekend against the Bengals, it will be lights out.
Evans/Reed: WR Lee Evans should be able to post his fourth solid game in a row when he faces a Fins pass defense that has given up 15 passing TDs so far this year. Evans has been red hot and is rewarding owners who have been patient with him. I expect another 120+ yards and at least two TDs
Booker/Hagan/Ginn Jr: This is a good match up for the Fins passing game, but it remains to be seen how good Cleo Lemons is at the QB position. He did OK against the Giants in week 9, but nothing spectacular. If he can get some time, he should be able to make some things happen. Booker is the best receiver for the Dolphins, so I would expect him to be targeted early and often. WR Derek Hagan received a lot of looks (8 targets) against the Giants, but only managed to catch two of them for 27 yards. The jury is still out on Ted Ginn Jr, but it's clear he should be nowhere near a fantasy roster.
Sleeper Alert: Marty Booker - 6 catches, 80 yards, TD
Dolphins 20 Bills 17 (Fins fan rejoice as they get their first win!)
St. Louis @ New Orleans:
This should be a fun game to watch. Both of these teams are getting healthy. SJax is back to the Rams, and Drew Brees is looking a whole lot like his 2006 self. Expect some points to be scored in this track meet.
Bruce/Holt/SJax: It only took him eight games, but "Big Game" Torry Holt finally rewarded his owners with his first 100+ yard game of the season. In week nine's loss to the Browns, Holt caught six passes for 110 yards and a TD. Is he ready to snap out of his funk? Ike Bruce led the team in targets with 11 in week 9. He caught six of them for 70 yards. SJax has struggled to stay healthy but this is a great match up for him to produce and reward his owners. All three of these players make great options this weekend.
Sleeper Alert: Isaac Bruce - 6 catches, 80 yards, TD
Colston/Patten/Bush: Great match up for these three. This offense is beginning to look like the scary 2006 version that everybody was afraid of. Last week they made a good Jacksonville defense look really bad as Brees torched them for 400+ yards and three TDs. Colston had another solid outing catching 10 passes for 159 yards off of 14 targets. David Patten is becoming a threat in the offense as well as he caught four passes for 81 yards and a TD. RB Reggie Bush is a PPR stud as he is averaging almost six catches a game. The Air Attack will be in full effect Sunday for the Saints, so start all three of these guys as they should be able to produce some solid numbers.
Sleeper Alert: David Patten - 5 catches 75 yards, TD
Saints 38 Rams 21
Cleveland @ Pittsburgh:
HUGE game here for the Brownies. Can they prove to the league that they are for real and beat the Steelers? Who are we kidding here folks? The Steelers OWN the Browns here. Statement game her for Big Ben and company.
Edwards/Winslow: TE Kellen Winslow received a ridiculous 21 targets last weekend against the Hawks. Is that even legal in the NFL? Winslow converted 11 of those for 125 yards. I guess you could argue that Braylon had an off game by not getting into the end zone, but he did catch five passes for 67 yards. This may look like a bad match up on paper for the Browns, but you can’t bench these two because of how hot they are. Start both against the Steelers this weekend.
Holmes/Ward/Nate Washington/Miller: Could be a big day for this foursome. The Brownies are DEAD LAST in the NFL in pass defense. Santonio Holmes continues to improve, and is one of Big Ben's favorite targets. Last weekend Holmes busted out with 110 yards and two TDs. Nate Washington also made an appearance on Monday night by catching two TDs. Heath Miller also found his way into the end zone. Ward was targeted several times but was not able to hit pay dirt. This is a very favorable match up for this group, so start them with confidence against the leagues worst pass defense.
Steelers 38 Browns 21
Jacksonville @ Tennessee:
Williams/Northcutt: WR Reggie Williams was huge last weekend catching six passes for 128 yards and a TD. That being said, neither one of these guys make great plays this weekend if you ask me. Stay away from the Jag receivers.
Titan WRs: Nope, not this weekend.
Philadelphia @ Washington:
After a pathetic Monday Night performance, the Eagles hit the road to take on the Redskins in a key NFC divisional game. With the Skins, Giants, and Cowboys holding good records, the Eagles are falling out of the playoff hunt and need a win.
Curtis/Brown/Westy: The Skins have a stout pass defense, but the injury to Carlos Rogers is huge. Taylor and Landry are still there though so that is always bad news for receivers on the opposing teams. You know things are not open downfield when your team’s RB gets 14 catches! That was the case last weekend for RB Brian Westbrook. Brown and Curtis each went over 50 yards receiving last weekend but failed to find pay dirt. I would recommend sitting both of these players against a tough Redskin secondary. Look for the Eagles to use Westbrook to carry the team Sunday.
Moss/El Randle/Cooley: Nothing to get excited about here, other than maybe Cooley. Moss and Randle El are very streaky, but Cooley has been solid now for three out of the last four weeks. Keep him in your lineup.
Redskins 17 Eagles 13
Cincinnati @ Baltimore:
After an embarrassing beat down on Monday Night by Big Ben and the Steelers, the Ravens hope to turn things around against Carson and the Bengals.
Housh/Chad Johnson: Everyone saw what Big Ben did to the Ravens on Monday Night. Ben threw for five TDs in the first half against the Ravens. The Ravens secondary is very shaky right now, and Housh and Chad should be able to get open whenever, wherever on the field. Because the Bengals don't have much of a running game, look for Palmer to throw at least 40 passes this weekend. Johnson and Housh as usual should be in your lineup. You may want to make sure Johnson plays after taking that vicious hit last weekend that knocked him out. I think he will be fine and he should be in fantasy lineups.
Clayton/Mason/Heap: Talk about from one extreme to the next. The Ravens passing offense goes from taking on one of the top ranked pass defenses in the Steelers to one of the worse in the Bengals. You won’t find very many times that I recommend starting all of the Raven primary receivers, but this weekend is an exception. Mason, Clayton, and Heap should all have very good days. I've seen Clayton emerging within this offense the past couple of weeks, and he may be a sleeper this weekend against the Bengals. He was second on the team in targets against the Steelers, so he's getting some looks within the offense. He can be used as a WR3/Flex this weekend. Watch the injury report for Heap, but if he plays, you can expect something like 5 catches, 50 yards and the possibility of a TD.
Sleeper Alert - Mark Clayton 5 catches, 60 yards, TD
Ravens 24 Bengals 21
Detroit @ Arizona:
Ya know last year if you saw this match up you would have yawned and just turned the channel. One year later and this looks like it could be a good game. Both teams need this win in the worst way.
Williams/Calvin Johnson/McDonald: Somebody needs to file a missing persons report for Roy Williams. He was last seen in week 3 against the Eagles posting 200+ yards in receiving and actually celebrating a TD pass. Since then... POOF! He's disappeared. If anyone sees RW, report him to the Lions organization, immediately. One bright spot this year for the Lions is Shaun McDonald. With the exception of weeks five and seven, he's been very consistent. He leads the Lions in TD receptions with four. One thing I don’t understand is how Calvin Johnson is not getting looks in the offense. He has not gotten more than five targets in a game since week 2. He's too good to not be involved in the offense.
Fitz/Boldin: Tough weekend last week for this duo. Tampa Bay had these two locked down for the majority of the game. Don't worry though Fitz and Boldin owners. They will reward you this weekend against the hapless Lion secondary. Fitz and Bolding should be able to run wild this weekend and each should find their way into the end zone as well. This should be a high-scoring game with tons of fantasy potential.
Arizona 34 Lions 30
Dallas @ NYG:
This is not the same Giants team that showed up in week one folks. I see this as a revenge game for the G-Men. This is going to be the best game of the week if you ask me and should be fun to watch.
TO/Crayton/Witten: TO abused defenders last weekend and made the secondary look silly. Amazingly enough, he did not drop one pass for this game and caught 10 passes for 174 yards and a score. Anybody else see that sick hit JWitt took when his helmet came flying off, but he stayed on his feet and sprinted down the sidelines before getting tackled and almost scoring. JWitt got back to his feet with a bloody nose and acted like nothing happen. You can’t script that any better folks. Receiver Patrick Crayton has been slowing down a bit of late as he has two catches for 19 yards in his last two games. I would let him sit on your bench this weekend, but TO and Witten are no-brainers
Burress/Toomer/Shockey: Giants receiver Plax Burress has to be salivating at the thought of facing the ‘Boys. In week one, Burress abused the Dallas secondary to the tune of eight catches, 144 yards, and three TDs. The Cowboys have no one defensively that can match his size. Toomer and Shockey should also post some respectable numbers. All three are worth a start this weekend.
Sleeper Alert – Amani Toomer - 5 catches 70 yards, TD
Giants 28 Cowboys 24
Chicago @ Oakland:
I’ve got a strange feeling about this game. The Raiders have a decent pass defense and has been creating havoc in opponent passing games. The only way the Bears have been able to move the ball as of late is Brian Griese passing the ball. The Bears defense has not been very good this year, and I can see the Raiders having success moving the ball. I smell an upset here.
Berrian/Moose/Clark/Olsen: As I've mentioned above, I don’t like the match up here for "Da Bears." The TE's though are getting a lot of looks within the offense, and I can see Olsen and Clark being the most productive options here. Sit Moose and Berrian, but Clark and Olsen look like good options and may have the best opportunities in my opinion to find the end zone. They make great Sleeper picks this weekend.
Sleeper Alert: Desmond Clark - 4 catches, 40 yards, TD
Greg Olsen - 6 catches 80 yards, TD
Curry/Porter: As everybody knows by now, the Bears can be passed on this year as they are the 22nd ranked pass defense in the NFL. With McCown at QB, Curry struggled a bit, but Porter was more active. Against the Texans last week, Porter responded with four catches and 55 yards, while Curry caught two passes for 12 yards. I actually like Porter for some reason this weekend. Just a gut feeling but a 4 catch, 80, one TD performance is what I envision. Curry has to be involved if the Raiders want to get the “W” this weekend.
Sleeper Alert: Jerry Porter - 4 catches, 80 yards, TD
Raiders 21 Bears 17
Indy @ SD:
Rebound game here for the Colts. I hate Norv Turner. I'm still wondering how the hell he got this job. He’s turned a 14-2 team from a year ago into a very average team if you ask me.
Wayne/Harrison/Clark: Check the Marvin Harrison reports to see if he plays. My guy tells me he plays, although I’m not sure how effective or limited he will be. I think the Chargers struggle this weekend stopping Manning and company. Reggie Wayne has a good game this weekend as he will go over 100 yards and a TD. TE Dallas Clark had one of his worst performances of the season last weekend, but will rebound this weekend. I just don't see the Bolts being able to stop the Colts passing game.
Gates/VJax/Chambers/LT: What the HELL happened to Gates last weekend? Dude was supposed to rip another rip apart the Viking secondary and he only manages one catch for 10 yards? Now do you understand why I hate Norv? I'm convinced Chambers may be taking over the WR2 spot. VJax has disappeared since he has arrived. LT will have his 5 catches for 50 yards but not much more.
Colts 34 Bolts 24
SF @ Seattle:
DJax/Battle/Davis: I called it a couple of weeks ago. Get Vernon Davis on your team NOW! He's heating up and has a juicy match up on Monday Night. DJax made his return last week, but looked a little rusty. Would not be starting him until he looks healthy. Arnaz Battle was targeted 10 times last week, but only managed four catches for 35 yards. Look for Davis to be the best option out of this group, as he catches 6 passes for 80+ yards and a TD.
Sleeper Alert: Vernon Davis - 6 catches, 80+ yards, TD
Engram/Hackett/Branch: I'll be the first to admit, bad call on Hackett last week. He looked real good, and his stats should have been better had he played the entire fourth quarter. Bobby Engram pulled a Kellen Winslow and was targeted a whopping 21 times last weekend against the Brownies. He caught 14 of them for 139 yards and a TD. Until Deion Branch comes back, he is a MUST start. I don't see Hackett taking targets away quite yet.
Sleeper Alert: D.J. Hackett - 5 catches, 60 yards, TD
Seahawks 24 49er's 13
Top 5 WR Match Ups to Exploit:
1. Vernon Davis TE SF(may be his last weekend as a sleeper)
2. Roddy White WR ATL (should be able to post some fine numbers)
3. David Patten WR NO (Saints offense heating up, and he seems to be getting looks)
4. DJ Hackett SEA WR (With Branch still out, he could have a great game against the 9er's)
5. Amani Toomer WR NYG
Week 10 is upon us and I see a lot of Sleepers this weekend. Lets jump right into it!
