WSL1 Draft Thread (1 Viewer)

LOVE all the guys who went Qb early trying to spread some panic. :fishing:
There's the first smart guy. :shrug:While I do admit I was hoping to start a QB run, the above info isn't a lie. 18 QBs were gone thru 5 rounds. And didn't Rudy win this whole thing last year with a QB in the 2nd?!Just sayin.
As a note, Fro won in 2005 with QB in the 2nd AND 3rd, meaning 2 out of 3 WSL champs were with high QB, a much higher rate than the other leagues (I'll do a look later at earlier years in the other leagues to confirm). And while you were the points leader in 2 with a low round QB, Fro led 2005(4th/5th QB taken), while I led WSL I with a 4th round QB (8th taken). While I agree that QBs are very overrated in the MBSL format, these WSLs are a little different. With the higher percentage of inactive/useless players due to the higher guesswork involved, ANY player you can guarantee will be playing in the fall gets a value increase that might not be there later in the year once the lower ranked players are solidified. Yet another reason why this is a very interesting draft.

4.3 Donovan McNabb, QB PHI

I could have went in alot of different directions here. In past drafts, if I skip QB and wait for my 5.13, I'm missing the top dozen QBs. I don't want that to happen.
I agree with this. If someone drafted in previous WSL drafts, they'd see that several QBs get taken in or by the 4th round.
Actually, I was curious if I was right - so I just looked it up. In WSL1 last year, through 5 rounds - 18 QBs were taken. 18 in 5 rounds!! This isn't like a 10 or 12 team redraft where waiting for a QB til round 8 or 9 works wonders. That means some had their 2nd QB before even having their 2nd RB or WR. (ie, if you have 2 QBs through 5 rounds, then that leaves only 3 spots for everything else)
:fishing: Big Ben and Batch took me to the points title.
When did this happen? Batch? really?
WSL last year. Refuse to participate in the QB run. Figured I could survive one week without a QB v. a boatload of other teams that would be wrecked with injuries, bye issues, and retirements. I think I was the only guy to draft Batch last year in any of these leagues. Turned out to be more valuable then Nall.
I would venture to guess you hit on some pretty hot prospects here. I just happen to have a copy of that draft board handy.. Let's see...You hit on Steven Jackson... you took Ben Roth in the 4th round!! What do you mean refused to participate in the QB Run?

Reggie Brown, Marion Barber and Berrian certainly helped your cause, it wasn't due to avoiding the QB run to snag a good prospect.
IMO drafting a 2nd QB in rounds 5/6/7 would have been participating in the run. In hindsight, I would have been better off skipping BigBen and just taking Grossman late.
Maybe so, but the chances of nailing the Rising Star QB is pretty slim.

Depends on how late as well. I took Grossman @ 8.08 as my 2nd QB. You can't hold out too far with this group. A solid prospect doesn't last as long as with less knowledgeable groups.

All the QB takers are talking up a QB run, while all the non-QB takers are posting the laughing smileys.

I feel like I am in the middle of congress listening to the arguments.
