In an attempt to start some conversations (part of the reasons we do these).....At 1.01 I considered:LT2WestbrookAddaiADPand Brady.Anyone think I overlooked anyone? Anyone would have gone with one of these over LT2?Westbrook was arguably the #1 back last year, but that's 2007. Who knows for 08.Brady for 6PTs a TD is also an interesting pick.

In an attempt to start some conversations (part of the reasons we do these).....At 1.01 I considered:

LT2 Most Favored Pick

Westbrook We don't trade down in these, but this would be a solid strategy if you could get something and Westy

Addai See Westy above

ADP Would have been my pick. Byes are unknown and who else are you going to take in Minny that wouldn't go with this pick?

and Brady. QB as #1!!! Not me. Records already set, defenses adjusting for a year, player changes bring too much uncertainty for me in addition to possibly not being the best QB next year or commitee strategy.

Anyone think I overlooked anyone? Anyone would have gone with one of these over LT2?

Westbrook was arguably the #1 back last year, but that's 2007. Who knows for 08.

Brady for 6PTs a TD is also an interesting pick.
Bolded my thoughts.

Brady at #1 would be a mistake, IMO. I made a similar mistake taking Peyton at #2 in the first WSL after his record-setting season. My reasoning was that he would likely wind up as the #1 QB again and he would almost certainly not get injured. With Brady and any other record-breaker though, there's a pretty big chance that he'll regress back towards his career averages, even if Moss returns (which isn't a certainty at this point). It's a pretty safe pick for the mid to late 1st round, but no need to take him as high as #1 considering the dropoff that will take place at RB from pick #1 to pick #32. When healthy, Westbrook is worthy of a #1 overall pick, but his injury risk seems greater than the other elite RBs.

I could've gone in a few different directions with the #7 pick, but Portis looks pretty safe to me. Gets yards, TDs, and receptions and has a proven track record. Betts wasn't nearly the threat a lot of people thought he would be this year. Coaching change could shake things up there I suppose, but he seemed safer than Larry Johnson, Frank Gore, Brady, or RMoss.

I think there is an argument for SJax at #1, but its pretty weak. You'd have to assume massive offensive stabilization RE: injuries to both SJax and the offensive line. But when he's going, he's as good as it gets. His healthy production in '06 and '07 have proven that.

Normally wouldn't want an RB here, but I didn't think he'd be here and I don't want to chance it.

1.14 - Marion Barber, RB, DAL

Seeing another low draft spot in these leagues...I was all set to try the QB approach with this pick. I didn't think both Brady and Manning would both be gone. I guess that leaves me with:

1.15 Ryan Grant

Not my draft, but up for a discussion.LT2 at 1.01 is almost too easy, especially in an early redraft - highest talent, best stability. Westy, Addai, ADP, and I'd throw in Stephen Jackson as the next tier, each with their own question marks (albeit minor in most cases). Brady at that spot has the same issue as Manning after his record year; I think he'll put up good numbers, but not as much of an outlier (more like 4200-4500 yds, 30-35 tds, 10-15 ints). Still solid, and likely worth a mid-late 1st if that's your pleasure, but I wouldn't go for it at the top of the 1st.

Must have just missd shadow when I was on earlier :jawdrop:

Let me have Willie Parker and Reggie Wayne

PMing Shadow

LT2 - Easily the most favorite #1 pick. Pretty much guaranteed 1700-15. Could be slowing down but won't fall out of top 5 next year barring injury.Westbrook - Big man-crush for PPR leagues. But he's always nicked up and misses 1-3 games every year. With every week counting in survivior leagues, there are better options at #1. Addai - Not there yet. Needs another 50 touches or so per season. Like to see him in the 1700-1800 yard range at least before I draft him #1. ADP - People are drooling over his potential but I don't want to have my RB face 10 men in the box all the time. 54-144-2 his last 4 games. Vikings need to get him help. Jackson is not an NFL QB and the WRs need upgrading. Sure ADP will have his huge games but their will be plenty of clunkers along the way. Survivor teams will need good contingency plans. As with Westy, better options at #1.Brady - As others have stated, I think this season was very special for Brady and the Pats. One has to expect Brady to regress to the mean, which closes the QB gap. In the WSL, I think he's a solid choice late 1st round and 2nd round. But #1? No way. SJax - I think he needs to be included and may be my choice to supplant LT as the #1 RB next year. The OL should be addressed in the off-season and they still have weapons in Bulger and Holt. Food for thought. After StL bye week, SJax was the #3 RB, behind LT and Westbrook.

Yo guys...take a look at my sig. The one eyed beagle used to provide us a great ff application free of charge. Time to reward a good guy like that.

LT2 is the obvious safe pick and is perfectly fine if you want an anchor you can build the team around early on. I mean he's scored 350+ points in this format over the past 3 years, you can't really ask for much more than that considering usually only 3-6 RB's actually get to 300 over the last 4-5 years!.Westbrook and ADP I see as both the 'huge upside' picks. Westbrook has finished in the top 10 in three of the past four years and the other year he was 11th. Go figure. He's also had a 20+ PPG in, again, three of the past four years. If you think Westbrook will play at least 14 games, then you've got a top 5 RB and someone in the running for the top slot. If Philly stops becoming the McNabb show and Westbrook starts rushing more, it's certainly possible he gets even higher. ADP played in 14 games, starting 9 and finished 5th in WSL scoring. And he was a rookie. I'd of taken ADP, but that's purely because I think he has the potential to put up a string of 400+ point seasons with his talent, developing skills and an incredible offensive line to run behind. If Minnesota gets a QB so teams can't stack 13 in the box, then he really has no downside.Addai isn't worth the #1 pick unless you think he's the new LT. Addai is very good, but when you talk about the very top of the top, he's not quite there yet. Brady would probably be worth it if you knew he was getting 100-200 points on the other QB's finishing in the top 5. Since we don't, I wouldn't take him.
