WSOP 2019 (1 Viewer)

Tried to stay up last night and watch it but finally fell asleep about 2 am.  Congrats to Ensan, he had the big stack the entire way, and despite some up and downs he managed to keep his composure and continue to play his game, pick his spots, apply constant pressure and just grind his opponents down.

Worst group of short-handed players i've seen on a final day. All great readers, but no great gamblers. It was comical how badly EVERYONE's cards were missing, though.
The first hour or so had some great cards and a couple of moments - like Dario hitting a river straight. They got it to the point of nearly even among the 3 after that - but they all started to get conservative then. But in the last 2 hours it was crazy with tons of garbage starting hands and few collisions. With the chip lead Ensen just hit every bet that Dario made down the stretch and there never looked to be any hands to strike with.

Best player won imo.

What's the deal with these rail yahoos? The players pay for them all to fly in and stay at hotels and drink? Or does the WSOP do it so it looks good on tv? I can’t imagine more than 7-10 people I’d want there if I was ever in that position.

Wait, seriously?  I didn't see this can someone please break down how this happened?
I never saw Maahs fold pocket Ks pre-flop, and I watched a pretty high percentage of the action.  I remember Livingston folding pocket Qs pre-flop after opening, getting called and then getting a three bet.  There were still six at the table at the time.  I thought that was a bit peculiar.

What do you guys think of the constant crowd chanting?

It wasn't nearly as bad as it was last year, but I found it really annoying while playing.   They say it's great for the TV show.
Annoying as ####.  Bunch of yahoos desperate to insert themselves into an event that they have no part of.

Yeah I saw that hand and was surprised he folded QQs.  Folding pocket kings at final table pre flop is crazy.

It's not that crazy, depending.  The pay jumps at the main event final table are some of the biggest ever and maybe the short stack was somehow at risk (raising or in the bb).

I will look for a description of it.

Yeah, sort of this.  Dario was the caller with fewer chips.  Gates was the 3 better who had a large stack at the time.  He was third in chips at the time, but only had about $50 M.  I think he figured "why mess with it at this point.  There are three guys (one who was still in the hand) who could easily bust before me and I will hang on to my chips for now."

I'd probably just wear a pair of noise cancellers all night. That was beyond obnoxious.

Seriously? I thought the play was phenomenal.  Dario put on a clinic about how to play shortstacked.

The final table was really, really quality IMO.

Agreed.  One person could have gotten more aggressive perhaps but he play overall was top notch with some good reads and some good laydowns and very few unnecessarily large pots.

Darrio ran well for awhile and then he tried a few times to use that mo to bluff and got burned.    It was kind of odd there were so many  4 2 vs 4 3,  10 3 vs 6 4 type of hands.

Only cuz they let him off the hook for about forty limps. i'm not impugning what those guys did to get there, but the first guy to pretend he's always happy about his action blows all those three away.

You could just...not invite a bunch of people?

I'd hire a couple tourney pros to coach, and then maybe 1-2 GB's who know poker. Anyone else there is nonsense. There's literally no other day in your life where you're going to be able to make that much more money on just that day.

Tourney pros trying to catch tells would be a tremendous idea.

They all have guys doing that for sure.  I played with all the top players the last few days in that horse tourney.  They were all talking back and forth about all the shares they owned of each other for the entire series.   Guy sitting next to me had a streak of 8 years broken of having someone in the final 20.

In those HORSE tournies, are there players who basically auto-muck a game they don't play as well?

I would love to make the final table just to get hammered and make lots of shtick. I’d just make fun of the gamble nerds and how seriously they take themselves. HEY HOOD AND HEADPHONES AND SUNGLASSES NERD, CAN YOU HEAR ME??

Counterpoint: :moneybag:

Lot more shtick opportunities with 10 milly.

Never would have thought Dario would have made it as far as he did after what happened earlier when the dealer miscounted the chips in the all-in he called.  I thought he was mentally done, it was just amazing for him to finish 2nd after that.

I’d love being at the main final table and everyone’s rail being rowdy. Probably should calm it down during pots that are being played but the atmosphere has to be out of the world.

Lol.  So day 2 of the horse.  I'm like in 5th place and aforementioned guy from long island is in second.  We both  agree if we made our final table together, that we would storm the main event final table about 75 steps away,  naked.

Maybe in the 1500. Not the 3k.  We had 301 in the 3k.  I played with Negraneau twice, Henninger ,Clements and two other major pros at the same table.  Jon Turner day 1.  And busted sitting next to Krista friend, brendan shack Harris. And those are just the names I knew.

It's really not.   The only people close to the table are the ones you see on tv and they aren't even that close.  They have to watch the tv to see anything.  On the other side, there's a lot of tv production equipment and a little stage for Ho and all.

They had 5k no limit and 3 k horse going on in the amazon at same time this year.   5k ended early yesterday. 3k about 2 hours before main did.  Most of the tables had been broken down and its really weird looking in that room without every table out there.  Huge, silent, wasteland.

A full amazon is an incredible atmosphere with all the tables playing , tv cameras rolling on the feature tables, and rail birds for all sections walking around.

These guys are so good that they understand that things happen and to quickly let them go.

I bubbled the horse.  Stewed for a day. Totally over it.  It's just cards.

Oh, and so many of them have so much ####### money, that they just let it go and are off to the next tournament.  There were like 85 events this year and so many of these guys play in 30 to 40 of them.
