With all the garbage available on waivers this week, I am going with the following in my waiver wire order:
Reece - could be a monster if they used him more. Had 8 targets with 5 receptions for 54 yards in week 4.
Ballard - Indianpolis running back Vick Ballard will get the nod as the team's starter Sunday versus the Jets.
Analysis: Ballard is filling in for the injured Donald Brown, who went down with a knee injury late in last week's win over the Packers. The rookie out of Mississippi State hasn't shown us a whole lot in 2012 (42 yards on 21 rushing attempts) so we're not optimistic about his chances Sunday against New York
Blount - )Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount has been performing well in practice, which could his bid to see more carries on gameday. "I think LeGarrette has practiced better the last couple weeks," head coach Greg Schiano said. "I think when you prepare better you play better." Schiano thinks both Blount and RB Doug Martin can play off each other successfully because they have different running styles and body types.
Wilson - With A. Brown out a few weeks, Wilson will get 8-10 carries to spell Bradshaw.
According to the Daily News, the Giants' coaches are now "excited" about David Wilson.
Analysis: It looks like Wilson has finally worked his way out of the doghouse. With Ahmad Bradshaw coming off a 34-touch day and Andre Brown still dealing with a concussion, the first-round rookie is prepping for a real offensive role this week. The Daily News says Wilson "should get a share of the load on Sunday." We're not comfortable starting him in fantasy circles yet, but there's plenty of stash appeal here. Wilson hasn't fumbled since Week 1.
Grant/Green/Starks?Kuhn - Whoosh where do you bet your chips? - Although James Starks has been ruled inactive for the first five games of 2012, he could end up as the starter for the Packers in Cedric Benson's absence. Benson is likely to miss 8 weeks with a Lisfrank injury. Last year, Starks split time with Ryan Grant and will likely have a similar role this season with second year back Alex Green. Starks averaged 4.3 yards per carry and scored one touchdown last year.
Analysis: Starks and Green will get more carries this week but their matchup against the Texans diminishes their value considerably. The Texans are 9th in the NFL against the run but the Packers go on a period of favorable matchups against rush defenses after this week. From Week 7 to Week 9 the Packers play the Rams, Jaguars, and Cardinals who rank 18th, 29th, and 14th respectively against the run. Starks and Green could be value pickups in deeper leagues but Green has more upside in standard ten team leagues.
Kuhn - could eek out a TD for you. This is the same injury that ended Darren McFadden's season midway through 2011 and it is a setback for fantasy owners who loved the consistent touches Benson was seeing. While the injury appears to be a bad thing for the Packers' offense, it could also give McCarthy a reason to increase his reliance on Aaron Rodgers. Alex Green figures to be the next man up, but James Starks could easily split carries with him as soon as this week with John Kuhn likely to see all short-yardage work.
M. Moore - )Indianapolis Colts RB Mewelde Moore (ankle) and C Samson Satele (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Hightower - Still 2-3 weeks away - )The Arizona Cardinals lost RB Ryan Williams (shoulder) to season-ending Injured Reserve, and there are rumors flying around about potential targets either through free agency or trade. One name that makes sense is New Orleans Saints RB Chris Ivory through trade, or former Cardinals RB and current free-agent Tim Hightower (Redskins). However, the latter is unlikely, as he is still not all the way back from a knee issue.
Ivory - He would fit well in Green Bay? AzCardinals.com suggests New Orleans' Chris Ivory as a potential trade target at running back.
Analysis: However, reporter Darren Urban believes it's much more likely the Cardinals look to the free agent market than trade market to fortify what's become a position of need following Ryan Williams' placement on injured reserve. Buried on the depth chart behind Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram, Ivory has yet to be active this season.
Forsett - Forsett is in no danger of missing Week 6, but Ben Tate (toe) is. Tate was limited on Wednesday, but it's possible Forsett will be called on to back-up Arian Foster for the second straight week. Even if that's the case, however, he won't be a deep-league flex option against the Packers.
Miller - Lots of raw talent, but, )Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller didn't play in a single offensive snap in Week 5, but he could be used more often with RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) leaving the game with his second concussion in five weeks. The team hasn't been happy with Miller's awareness on the field so far, though, and his pass blocking hasn't been good.
Analysis: Beyond starter Reggie Bush, there's not a whole lot fantasy GMs can count on with any certainty in the Miami backfield as Miller, Thomas and even Jovorskie Lane all have had their moments -- fleeting as they may be.
Howling - 5'7 - 185 - Horrible offensive line - I'm not buying !
Super sleeper - James Casey - used to be listed as a TE. I dunno? In the last two weeks he has caught 9 of 10 balls thrown his way for 89 yards & a TD. Not bad for a desperation move.
I've already got a bunch of garbage at the end of my bench, (in case of injury) I don't know what to do to find a 1/2 ### RB?
Anybody have a rabbit in their hat they are willing to share?
All the best !
