WWYD - Parking Situation (1 Viewer)

The General

A car is blocking your driveway, like blocking the whole thing. You can get out but involves a 10 point turn and driving down a sidewalk.

Well, what would you do? Completely ignore, leave a note, call city, etc.

Oddly this has happened twice. For some context it’s fairly “car dense” area. But there are always at minimum a few spots at least on every block.

Smash window, Google how to put in neutral and move it to more of street.

Slowly put bumper onto car and slowly accelerate until I dented the snot out of it and moved it

If I can still get out (which I usually can since my driveway is only just barely separate from my neighbor's), I call the city and have them ticket but not tow. They give me the option when I call. Parking on my street is usually taken up by nurses for a nearby age-care facility and I don't think my inconvenience would be worse than finishing an 8-hour shift of changing diapers of dementia patients only to walk out to a dark street at 2AM to find your car gone. The ticket seems like enough of a deterrent from having it happen again.

It’s probably my neighbor. I knock on his door and ask him to move the vehicle. Or, more likely, have one of the multiple ladies he has over move her car. He’s a solid neighbor and appears to be quite the player.

Put a boot on it with a note that says because you wasted my time I'm wasting yours. If it's happened before a cheap 30 dollar car boot would be a handy thing to have. Makes them come knock on your front door when they want to leave. Obviously don't boot the car when your not home.

The parking cops were called. They actually show up which is insane. Their policy is to write a ticket and report to tow truck company to come scoop the car up. Those companies are all lined up to do this work and once that call is in they show up immediately. So about 2 hours after this started a tow truck shows up and the person who parked the car shows up at the same time.

Will add more later.

It's Blue Onion's car. The "owner" who showed up is actually another cop. It's a setup - don't fall for it.

So…I am getting ready to leave when this tow truck situation begins. I’m in the shower and the wife says there’s a tow truck here. Like a minute later she’s saying the driver is there now.

It’s a woman who owns the car and she is reacting how you would expect. Not looking too happy.

I don’t want this person to get towed so make the decision to go outside and see if I can smooth things out 😂

The woman immediately apologizes, I get the whole story, was dark, was distracted…I totally get it.

Then the waterworks start.

So the tow truck guy is sort of milling about, I’m guessing he is used to this. She’s here visiting her daughter, she’s an artist and this is a lot of money.

The tables have now turned in this situation! She did say that she was very sorry and was not trying to make me feel like a **** but this situation was not going down as I would have hoped 😂

Tow truck guy says he won’t tow but he did drive far and he would like gas money. She starts digging and has like 12 bucks which isn’t looking good to tow truck guy and now he looks at me.

So a guilty General is starting to think am I going to having to give this guy some cash now. How did this get spun back on me 😂😂 there’s no movement going on here and I’m literally about to walk back in to get some cash when he says ok this is fine.

What a total fiasco.
