Yahoo game on TV? (1 Viewer)

Wondering what options there is for getting the Yahoo game on TV?

Xbox One, PS4, Roku, Apple TV, TV station?

Or will the only choice be streaming from a computer?
I'd imagine any app that can stream the internet will allow you to goto yahoo.

Most don't stream the internet though they have dedicated apps that stream their specific media.

So while Xbox One has an internet browser you stream Netflix in their app. On Roku there is no internet that I am aware of for instance but has a large collection of apps that they host for almost everything.

Am I the only one who hates the idea of Yahoo getting in on the streaming NFL games business?

Leave football games on TV, I shouldn't need to think about how to stream a football game to watch it on my TV. Why would I want to watch a game on a computer screen when I have a 55" HDTV for football?

Ugg, don't make this a trend

Hopefully someday they'll figure out a way to connect computers to televisions.

I can connect my computer to my TV, but its inconvenient. My TV has apps which does not include Yahoo so I cant use the apps to stream (to my knowledge). I can set up my laptop (I've done it in the past), but its a pain. I don't want to spend my time setting up my TV/laptop to watch a game. I should just be able to turn my TV on, tune to a channel, and the game comes on.

The only way I wouldn't mind this is if my TV acted like a computer and I could go directly to yahoo to stream.

Maybe I'm just getting old  :Get off my lawn

Download Yahoo Screen on any of your devices (roku, fire TV etc) it seems that yahoo is using this to show the game for the app world.

Agreed. Pretty sure it is part of the second amendment, for god's sake.

Easy, connect your laptop with an HDMI cable, done.

I have a mini-desktop PC connected via HDMI and optical for DD 5.1 audio to my A/V receiver. About as simple as it gets. :)

Is the game going to be available for the NFL ticket package?
Checked the schedule, it appears it won't be.

I also read that it will not be broadcasted on TV in local networks but I could be wrong. Glad to see Yahoo screen and other apps will be streaming it. Was worried I would have to stream it on my laptop/computer.

I'm surprised cable/networks aren't publicly up in arms over this.

Get off my lawn Yahoo!
Yahoo bid on it for the one game just like all the networks bid on their packages. They had a shot to put their money where their mouth is.

But now I have to run a hardwire to my laptop. I have a brand new wireless router but for this I'd rather hardwire

Yahoo has been streaming games for 5-10 years. It's been to foreigners though. When this first came out everyone griped and IIRC a direct TV price hike fueled the fire.

My common vizio tv comes with yahoo apps. They actually sent a notice that they would no longer be making them and then not long after(maybe because of this) there were a ton of new ones.

Any device that has flash should be able to display it.

check the speeds. Nowadays wireless is faster than wired in many areas
Even though the "speed" of the connection is faster (I have an N at 300MBbps), I have noticed that streaming over my hardwire (100MBps with powerline adapter) is way better and not choppier. I directly hooked up all of my smart TVs/Xbox in the house. It really helps, especially if you are far away from the router.

I'm glad they picked the worst possible matchup to test this with, so maybe only 11 or 12 people will actually bother to watch it and the experiment will kill the idea for a decade
That is definitely not going to be the outcome.

That and the fact that the game starts at the crack of dawn Sunday morning in the Western US.

Yahoo has been streaming games for a long time but to foreigners

Downloaded the Yahoo channel on my new Roku TV. Looking forward to watching my first football game on my TV in over 3 years.

any of you guys know if you can pause the game on your computer? I have some errands in the morning to do with the wife. I would really like to watch it to if I could. Any input on this would be appreciated?

thanks

Guy up top posted the link to give you all the options.

Hopefully this is finally the start of the future where all games are put online for free. It makes no sense to have games broadcast on local NBC/ABC/CBS/FOX and then not allow you to stream it. Just have GPS a requirement on the device and have it pull the local broadcast commercials. Uncharge the non-local games or just charge more for the marketing spots.

Doubtful most streaming options do not give you DVR level control. Now if you have a screen capture software running or something else then possibly.

I don't know how they are getting away with not putting the game on the Ticket. I was promised every game when I signed up for DirecTV and the Ticket.

:goodposting: Absolute horse####. I want to wake up, turn on my big ### beautiful TV and watch a football game. I don't want to deal with apps and streaming and chrome cast nonsense.

Absolute junk... I don't want to wake up and be chained to my front room watching TV. I don't want to not be able to watch games when traveling to an NFL stadium to watch a game live. I want to be able to watch any game, any where, any time, any device.

There is a million ways to watch this game and if you don't have even 1 smart TV or external device connected to your TV that can get the game you are one of the few people and are likely in the minority compared to those who have an ability to watch this game and even more so the 20-30 year olds who have no ariel antenna to watch local channels on their TV (if they even watch sports on their TV).

In the end we have people talk of ways the NFL is trying to capture a foreign market in England when the truly untapped market here in the US is those without TV service and those unable to get NFL Sunday Ticket.

:goodposting: They freakin charge enough they need to be giving EVERY game.
Thursday Night, Sunday Night, Monday Night??????
Yeah obviously excluding nationally televised.
Well.... This is nationally televised for free.......... Or did I miss where Yahoo makes you pay or has it setup for a regional broadcast only?

The untapped market that the NFL gives up by accepting several billion dollars from Direct TV?

Never said the NFL wasn't get a ton of money for it. I am not arguing that fact at all, I am pointing out that a majority of possible watchers are able to do it from more than a TV Box so complaining about it only being available in that format makes them in the minority.

Also Directv even charges more for Sunday Ticket Max for usage on mobile devices which points to the fact that people are willing to even pay more to untether from their TV.

In the end what I want is not going to happen while Directv is willing to overspend for Sunday Ticket exclusive rights which is possibly going to end now that ATT has merged with them. I have Verizon and its nice but wish they didnt have exclusive rights either.

MLB/NBA need to get on the ball and put pressure on the NFL by removing blackouts from their streaming packages and making them more available by lowering the cost to push their sports to the forefront.

This will turn out as bad as the Dolphins-Jets game with out audio. I just have a smart phone out in country with no internet service. I'm not going to waste data streaming this game.

I am surprised some of you guys can figure out how to post on an internet forum.

Streaming is the future. In 5-10 years kids will have no idea what DirecTV/Sunday ticket is just like kids today have never seen a cassette player, payphone, or an encyclopedia.

The "we cut the cord" thread in the ffa has lots of good info on transitioning from the cable box lifestyle to the streaming lifestyle.
