Yahoo trade issue (1 Viewer)

In one yahoo league I am commissioner of, there is a pending 3 player trade that involves Romo, who the original owner had in his lineup. The trade is supposed to go through on this Friday. IMO no trade should go through once the weeks games have started. Anyone else having this issue? And before you rub it in about using yahoo, my favorite site I play in is MFL. This is just a fun free site for a league that is been going for 8 yrs.

Your opinion is much stronger than what would be needed to postpone the execution of this trade. I think your opinion is wrong, but this trade has to be postponed because Romo already played. Obviously his points have to stay with the team that owned him during his game. It doesn't even matter that he was started, though of course that would make executing the trade even worse.I doubt the league software is dumb enough to switch Romo's points to another team, but who knows.

As long as the guy who had Romo in his lineup is credited the points this week and the guy acquiring Romo understands he doesnt get Romo's points and has another QB to put in his lineup this week; what's the problem?

The other guy wants to know if he can use the players he has involved in the trade and I told him he can, but what if yahoo's software is dumb enough to switch the players on Friday. I already told them if that was the case I'm going to transfer them back to the original teams and then transfer them back on Monday. I have no plans to reject the trade.

It was different when all the games were on Sunday and Monday, but now that games are on Thursday every week (Wednesday this week) you are basically giving owners 2 days to complete trades. Trade should be allowed everyday except for Sunday once games start, in this case Romo should start for the team that had him before the trade was complete and the new owner of him can start him next week

Just trade the players that didn't play this week. Then have the romo trade next week. Just message your league and tell them what's up.

The bolded is what I wouldn't have done. I have a Yahoo league and wherever possible, our "rules" are aligned with the way they do things. I would have investigated how the mechanics of this trade would shake out before telling an owner anything. Establish what will happen first, then determine if your league finds it acceptable.

Normally you would see a message on the screen that says something along the lines of "This trade will be put into effect starting Week 2". No mention of that on the trade details screen?

Yahoo is smart enough to deal with this. Look at the trade effective date somewhere on the trade screen.

I don't think that will be a problem. If Romo was in the guy's lineup on Thursday he will be credited for what he scored. Any other players who havent played yet should be eligible to enter into the new team's lineup.I am the Commish of a Yahoo league that's in it's 12th year. All trades go through immediately. I don't recall a situation exactly like this but I'm pretty certain that the software will not allow for points already in a lineup to be taken out and will not allow the new owner to put Romo in his lineup after he has already played.

Let the trade go through. I don't see any issues.

I just went into my Yahoo league and sent a trade proposal to another owner, offering Eli for Stafford, just to have a guy who had already played (and also to ensure a quick owner couldn't beat me to the punch before I canceled it). This is what appeared on the details screen.

Note: This trade will processed on Friday, Sep 7 and reflected on Week 1 lineups. If you've set your lineup in advance for future dates, please note those changes will be reset to match your lineup for the day players are added.
So yeah, looks like it could go through right away. Either push through the trade on Monday or let it go now and use commish tools to edit the team scores to reflect how it should be.

Pretty positive they aren't smart enough to deal with this despite the never old Good Posting or This. If the commish pushes it through, it goes through immediately.
Possibly, but my understanding from doing trades previously in Yahoo which mirrored this, is once the players points are written into the team's starting line up, they are written in stone. (The points won't move even if the player does.)Yahoo software may have changed, but I'd be surprised if the points move, I expect they won't. (At least from my previous Yahoo experience since 2003.)

Of course if the commish PUSHES it through then it goes through immediately. I must have missed where he was considering doing that.
