Yanks vs. Red Sox - Season Series Thread (1 Viewer)

A teacher asks her students if they are Yankees fans.

One of them says, “No, my Dad is a Red Sox fan, my Mom is a Red Sox fan, so I’m a Red Sox fan.”

So the teacher says, “Well, that’s not very good; if your mother and father were both morons, would that make you a moron too?”

“No, that would make me a New York Yankees fan.”

:suds:

Let's go BECKETT!

What's the difference between a Yankee Stadium hotdog, and a Fenway Park hotdog?

You can buy a Yankee Stadium hotdog in October!

The Shake Shack is open year round. Also, pretty weak sauce consider the Red Sox have won 2 World Series in the past 7 years and are tied for the longest current apperances in the post season. What's a Twins Fan doing rooting for the Yankees anyway? In any case, I'm kinda disappointed that the Opening Day game is Yankees & Red Sox. The rest of the baseball world doesn't want to hear it any more and I think this year, the Rays might be more of a dangerous team. Instead, MLB should have spotlighted something like Diamondbacks Rockies or Twins White Sox. Starting Opening Day as the Opening Day for a new field in a tight division would've been classy.

Yawn. Two teams are taking the field tonight in Boston, only one of them are THE WORLD CHAMPIONS. Let's go Yankees!!

 Did you also have a problem with the other joke calling Yankee fans morons? Lighten up dude, it's all in fun.

Agreed with this part though. I went to the opener at Yankee Stadium in 2005 when the Sox were coming off the WS win. Wells' Bosox debut, Randy Johnson's Yankee debut, ESPN Sunday night game...had zero feel of an "opening day" and all the feel of a late October game. Not that that's a bad thing, but I like the feel of a daytime opener, sun shining, beginning of spring, etc, etc. That just felt like a continuation of an exhausting war, and I assume tonight will be more of the same. That said, I'm ready to roll!

I have to agree. Even as a Sox fan I find the logic of opening night Sox/Yankees idiotic. It's just a poor use of exposure. Put a good pitching matchup for the opener. Verlander vs. Grienke would have been excellent. Use the Sox/Yankees once the newness wears off the season and you need ratings.

Also as much as I don't want to admit it, the game should be played in NY. If the World Champions play on opening night they should play in front of their home crowd. That said, I'm just happy baseball is back!

Hasn't MLB kind of made it that the World Series winner from the previous year opens next years season?I'm not a big fan of Opening Night.....but I have no problem with giving it to the champs.

Good point, I remember it being Phils/Cards Sunday night game last year. But my memory isn't that good so i could be wrong. Real excited to see games that finally count in the standing, in my fantasy league as well! Bring on some baseball!!!!!

Curtis Granderson in a nutshell. He hits a HR in the top the 2nd then makes a bad jump on a liner in the bottom.

What in the world would possess Girardi to think that Chan Ho Park is a good bridge to Joba/Mo? Good god. His stuff is mop-up caliber at this point.

When he was signed, I asked myself ... WHY?!?!?!.Why, indeed.

If he could possibly kill himself sometime soon, that would be great.

Papelbon not looking great up there....Fastball looking straighter than his heyday.

Nice...Sox setting the tone for the season on Opening Night... WATAH!
Same tone they set the first 8 times they played the Yanks last season?Hopefully things turn out the same way.
Maybe we could start by getting rid of CHP and avoid the 0-8 start, cuz that's just inexcusable he's even on the team. I totally forgot about that, and it spelled doom immediately when he entered the game. Nice of the Yanks to hand over the win like that. What else did they expect?
