Yanks vs. Red Sox - Season Series Thread (1 Viewer)

I did think it was odd of Girardi to ride CC so hard in the first game of the year, but after seeing the Yankees middle relief it made more sense.

Debating if I should open the wallet up a bit and get to Fenway Tues or Wed...

Nice...Sox setting the tone for the season on Opening Night... WATAH!
Same tone they set the first 8 times they played the Yanks last season?Hopefully things turn out the same way.
Maybe we could start by getting rid of CHP and avoid the 0-8 start, cuz that's just inexcusable he's even on the team. I totally forgot about that, and it spelled doom immediately when he entered the game. Nice of the Yanks to hand over the win like that. What else did they expect?
All of a sudden youre a Yankee fan?

Dear Joe,

Granderson cannot hit lefties. Hopefully you'll realize this sometime before the All-Star break.

Your pal,

Hes batting 9th. What do you want them to do? Play Randy Winn?
That's exactly what I want them to do. Winn is one of the most underrated players in the game. How many people realize he has over 1,700 career hits?
Granderson's 1-2. Why dont you wait more than one game before declaring a new lineup?

Betcha Winn is playing full-time against lefties by Memorial Day.

Over Granderson? How much you wanna bet?

Can we stop pretending that this rivalry is anywhere near as interesting as in 2004?
 What does that have to do with good baseball? No one cares about 2004. What people enjoy is when these guys get together its playoff atmosphere.

It's definitely different, but it goes in cycles. There were a lot more brash guys on the teams back then (Sheffield, K.Brown, Soriano, Boomer, Manny, Pedro, Schilling) so there was more bravado and perhaps hatred between the teams. Now it's a bunch of stand-up, respectable dudes who all seem to like and respect one another so you don't see that same type of intensity in these games. But my uncle used to say that nothing could match the late 70's era of Yanks/Sox, and then had to admit he was wrong in 2003-04. So what I'm saying is, hopefully we'll get a few more a-holes on these teams over the next few years!

It is beyond painful watching Posada run the bases. I can't even bear to look.

Name me 2 slower position players in all of MLB.

If I'm gonna suggest that Chan Ho Park kill himself when he blows a lead, I have to be fair and acknowledge it when he pitches well. Thank GOD the wind wasn't blowing out tonight.

Yeah lets not throw the guy under the bus after one game. Plus he had the flu theyre saying.

That 15 inning game was the best game in baseball last year, in large part due to their mutual intensity.

Granderson home run leads Yankees to 3-1 win over Red Sox, anyone thinking the Yankees got a steal in trading for Granderson. I can see him hitting 40 HR'S this year

Hughes / Sabathia / BurnettGood luck with that, Boston fans! :lmao:
Is it Beckett / Buchholz / Lester for the Sox?1 month ago, that would look like a good advantage for the Sox. Beckett>Hughes, CC>Buchholz, Lester>Burnett. Now, not so much. Lester has had 2 very good starts in a row (18Ks, 12 2/3 IP, 5 hits, 2 wins) so it is looking like that matchup may have swung back into the Sox favor. But the other two definitely dont look good on paper.Hughes is 0-2 lifetime against the Sox. With a 7.62 ERA, so I guess the Sox have that going for them. :goodposting:

Beckett looks inspired tonight, to say the least.
Nevermind.
:X I don't think I've ever seen a guy lose it this completely after so thoroughly dominating. He's completely out of control. On a side note, one of my biggest pet peeves is when fans stand and cheer for a pitcher after an awful performance. I'm not saying the home crowd has to boo, but what exactly are you cheering for? The guy looked as bad as a pitcher could have and appeared to just give up this inning, soooooo let's stand and give him an ovation! :stalker: Yankee fans aren't immune from this whatsoever either (in fact we may be more guilty of it than anyone), it's just something that bothers me. Carry on.

They cheered him because he's a dirty SOB who plunked every Yankee in the batting order. That's the loser mentality those fans have.

You beat us by 20??? No big deal. At least we hit JEEEETA with a wicked good fastball....

Hey Murph, pass me another Sam Adams. :banned: :banned: :banned:
