Yes, another tie breaker dilemma (1 Viewer)

I'll try to make this brief.......

3 teams tied at 8-5 in the same division for 1st Place.

Tiebreakers state for 2 teams: 1)H2H, 2) Total Pts H2H), 3) Total Points whole year.

Tiebreakers for 3 teams goes right to Total Points scored for the whole yea.

League pays 1st and 2nd Place.

Which option should be used?

A- Teams finish in order of points scored for whole season.

B- 1st goes to the top scorer to break the 3 way tie. 2nd goes to the winner of the tiebreaker using the 2 team tiebreaker, since 1st was already established.

I am rethinking if I applied the tiebreaker correctly.

Not making fun but people really need to think this stuff out prior to the season - it always is comical this time of year :lmao:

That being said do you want to mimic the NFL? Neither way is wrong.

I personally would do the 3 team. Then the 2 team. So option B but nothing wrong with just sorting on total points.

I have no issues with using Division Record as a second tiebreaker for winning the division before total points. To me if you are going to play H2H and have divisions the division record has to count for something.

Anyway I would "mimic" the NFL and establish 1 seed and then go to the 2 way tiebreaker

I personally hate head to head tiebreakers in Fantasy and feel total points would be the fairest way to reward the better team over the course of the season.

Agreed 100%.

I like H2H as the first tie breaker within a division where all division teams play twice, but where teams only play once I dislike using it for obvious reasons.

B.#1 is the highest scoring team.#2 is the H2H winner between the remaining two teams.

Correct. You're not determining first and second place at the same time. You do them individually:Step 1) You have a three way tie for first place. You use the three-team tiebreaker to determine who wins first place.Step 2) You have a two way tie for second place. You use the two-team tiebreaker to determine who wins second place.

Good replies. Every playoff spot that has a tie for it must have its own tiebreaker done. Coming in second in a previous tiebreaker nets you nothing.

Thanks for reaffirming my decision. I chose option B.

My brother was the guy left out, he was actually the second highest scorer, but lost twice to the third highest scorer.

He called me last night #####ing about how I did it and got me thinking and questioning myself.

I was pretty sure though that I made the right decision.

Thanks.

However I will detail this out in the Rules for next year.
