IDP league only looking at Sacks (4pts) and Fumbles (forced & recovered: 2pts each)...

how would you rank/tier these DL 'youngsters' dynasty wise (looking for guys born in the 80s):

Julius Peppers;

Dwight Freeney;

Osi Umenyiora;

Terrell Suggs;

Will Smith;

Mark Anderson;

Trent Cole;

Robert Geathers;

Robert Mathis;

Tamba Hali;

Mario Williams;

Elvis Dumervil;

Matt Roth;

Jared Allen;

Luis Castillo;

Mathias Kiwanuka;

(others - I missed)

Gaines Adams;

Jamaal Anderson;

(other rookie);

Done quickly...

Julius Peppers;Osi Umenyiora;Terrell Suggs;Will Smith;Dwight Freeney;Mark Anderson;Jared Allen;Trent Cole;Robert Mathis;Tamba Hali;Mario Williams;Gaines Adams;Mathias Kiwanuka;Jamaal Anderson;Robert Geathers;Elvis Dumervil;Matt Roth;Luis Castillo;
*Kampman misses the 80's by 30 days. Or he would come in at the top tier behind the other four.

Why do you have Mathis so low?

You'd have Kampman behind Will Smith? Maybe long term, but I think Smith has been too inconsistent.
Will Smith is tough to figure out. I've had him from rookie draft onward in a league, and I've never felt that he's been reliable enough to consider a DE1. He was DE14 two years ago while platooning with Howard, then when he got the perfect situation - starting opposite Grant - he was only DE20 this past season.I feel like he's got a bright future, but at this point he's tough to figure out.Side note: Mathis has been DE8 and DE9 over the same two years, despite very similar circumstances (platooning two years ago, starting opposite a stud this past season), and they're the same age.

Smith drove me crazy last year. He'd have a great game, then nothing. You're right he was hard to figure out.

Freeney is probably the most overrated DE in FF. My scoring is a little different, but he was #49 last year, #23 in 2005. If you see him reverting to his 2004 form, go ahead and take him #10 or so, but he'll go higher than I'll take him.

I can see Mark Anderson higher, but Will Smith shows us not to automatically assume he'll perform as well in a full time role.

Jayman - why is Jared Allen not in your top tier?

An oversight on my part... Placing way too much emphasis on the '07 season (he'll be suspended 4 games) in the weigthings in regards to dynasty values... good observation!
